Guys, I still kept most of the parts, the cabinet, grill, and motor were just so grimy that I scrapped them. It looked like it had been used in a kitchen, as it was covered in all sorts of grease and grime. I still have the plastic grill, blade, switches, etc.

you should keep the entire fan and cabinet as its vintage as im sure can get another motor for this as i think Century which used to be A.O. Smith makes a 6 pole shaded pole 3 speed motor for it as that company is now Regal-Beloit. if u can find a proper size motor for this as i think these older box fans the motor is a 42y frame. as vintage fans are better than chinese made fans but are most loved for collectors. i have vintage and the modern US made Vornado fans when the motors go bad i replace them not get rid of the fan. if its a 3 speed motor i replace it with a single speed motor and use a variable speed Triac motor control switch. as now im turning aray from these old school shaed pole motors and going with Permanent Split Capacitor PSC motors in my vintage vornado fans as they save energy and draw lass power. the motors i use for them is either FASCO, Century or US Motors as you can get replacement motors from your local HVAC wholesale store like Johnstone supply.

I agree with Derek Obidowski. You don't have to just throw the fan away. That's money down the drain. See if you can find a way to repurpose the propeller at least.

This scares me now.. cuz I have a 1960 vernco fan that runs beautifuly and is technically my rooms air conditioner so I run all the time especially at night. Now that I know I have the GE X motor in it I’m kinda freaking out now 😬

I have that same exact fan and motor, but mine is in much better condition. I made a video on mine, very nice fan.

You could put a McMillan motor on it.

+Marshall H. (gatrwrks) Yeah, but the fan is electrically reversible, I don't believe mcmillan produced any electrically reversible motors. Also, the rear grills is rusted out pretty bad, and the cabinet paint is peeling and has some fair rust on the bottom. It also seems like it is covered in layers of kitchen grease. At least I have some spare parts though in case I find one in the future, and I can use the switch/thermostat to bring the Sears Kenmore that I found in pieces back to life.

McMillan did make electrically reversible motors for the Lakewood HV-18WR window fans and other lakewood window box fans.

+Marshall H. (gatrwrks) You are correct, I completely forgot about those fans. Maybe I can find a beater and use the motor.
