I bought this exact pen early in my fountain pen experience. They had one left in a broad…I didn’t like broad nibs at the time, only fine, but I had to have the pen. My tastes in nibs changed, and now I use this pen a lot, it’s one of my favorites, so smooth and pleasurable to write with. I have the lavender one in a medium. Both great pens. Huge jump between the medium and the broad, though.
Thanks for the pen closeups. I didn't realize the pen was faceted. Like you, I prefer flat versus rounded, cigar shaped pens. The texture makes this model visually more interesting. Lovely ink paired with the rose colored pen. I haven't "graduated" to pens in the over $100 category. I'm still new to the hobby.
Thanks for sharing this video. I have bought two of these pens and the writing experience is exceptional. I have my eye on at least two of the celluloid versions 🙊. Yours looks really pretty. 💕
For Patinum pens, Medium will write more like fine. Did you see my line width comparison? Japanese fine is different from western fine nibs. I guess it all depends on how you write. If you write small, then May be a fine nib is for you. If you tend to write big then May be a medium nib is for you. I don’t normally use Broad nibs except for headings and when I want to display ink properties like shading, Sheen or shimmer.
I've got the 3776 M and writes wonderful, like an European M-F (if they made them) and very smooth ! Quite stiff also, which I like. The Platinum B seems to write more like a true B. European and Japanese makers differ by just half a grade, not really a whole point. In the last years Jowo and Schmidt make slightly thinner nibs than they used to. Chinese pens are all thicker and wetter, and they all seem to be M->B, whatever they are branded.
