Thank you for sharing this video. I passed through Vigo last year on the Portuguese Camino and I had a rough day getting there. So I didn't have the greatest first impression. I appreciate your video for giving me a different view. Thanks!
We haven’t done the Portuguese yet, but we have heard that the walk into Vigo is very industrial and full of concrete. Which isn’t a nice approach to any city! Hope you get another chance to explore there!
I loved Vigo when I was there twice passing through on Camino but it looks like there is still much to see. Thanks for showing us what is close to being my fave city on any Camino.
@@DaysWeSpend lol, no pressure. You just inspired me. We're planning on moving to N.Spain in Fall 2025 and Vigo is high on the list for when we come a-scouting through to check things out.
I will be visiting Spain for the first time this May. I'll be landing in Vigo, taking a bus to Baiona, then a friend and I are going to walk the Camino Português. It will be my first camino and I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the look at Vigo, it looks interesting!
That restaurant called "la malinche" has a very curious and ironic name. La Malinche was the native woman who joined Hernán Cortés in the conquest of Mexico 500 years ago. They had a son called Martín Cortés Malitzin, one of the first mixed blooded nobleman; half american native and half spanish. Martín was named Knight of the order of Santiago and participated in many wars under the orders of Felipe the II. It's funny to find a mexican food place like that in Spain.
You made my day when I saw you bought the Platero y Yo book! Wow what a flashback to my early schooldays. I really enjoyed this video. I have been reluctant to visit because most people say “it’s a port city” , but it definitely has nice vibe.
Thanks! Great little video on Vigo ❤. Um, I would love to see a video on lots of places I always intend to see but never do when I’m on Camino, like Granada, Cordoba, Sevilla? Love what you do and your energy so much ! Buen Camino
Hi . It was so nice to see Vigo with all the Christmas decoration. We slept in Vigo during our Camino but did not see Vigo as you saw it. We arrived with the rain and left with the rain. It was not the best day on our Camino but now that I saw you video I think it is an OK city!! :-)))
We were just in Vigo on the last week of Christmas lights too! We walked right through the square your hotel looks out at. We LOVED Vigo and our first trip to Galica. We live down in Andalucia, province of Malaga.
I really enjoyed this. I spent about a month in Galicia a few years ago, and didn't get a chance to really visit Vigo. I spent a weekend on Isla de Ons with some friends and definitely recommend! Beautiful beaches, some wilderness, some ruins. Gorgeous sunsets. Oh, also Castro de Barona. Magical.
I don't know if you have been to the Caminito del Rey in Malaga, but this visit is very impressive, with those cut cliffs and the color of the water of the reservoir below. In the Basque country I suppose you would already be on the islet of Gaztelugatxe and the flysch route between zumaya and deba.
@@DaysWeSpend I've done both the coastal and central routes, and my recommendation is to do the Senda Litoral the first couple days then bus (don't walk, trust me) to the central route until Pontevedra, then do the Spiritual Variant.
I would recommend a tour for the small coastal villages of Asturias and Cantabria. All are different and very unique. Vigo is the biggest fishing port in Europe in volume of captured fish. Good video guys!
Do you understand?
Ooh, i was there just a few weeks ago during my mini winter camino. I lstayed 2 days and loved it. I stayed in the historic part of the city wich was great. 🙂 The cristmas lights were fantastic, were'nt they 🙂

I'm looking at doing the Camino Portuguese starting in Baiona with the Spiritual Variant. Looks like to best way to get to Baiona from the US, is to fly to Madrid, then fly to Santiago and bus it to Vigo, transfer and bus to Baiona. Does this sound right? Great videos! May spend a day in Vigo on the way!
We live in Vigo. If you can fly to Porto, then bus to Bionia. We ubered for $150. Or fly into Vigo and take the bus down. Vigo is a 6 day walk to SC. You can also train up from lisbon or porto.
@@JeffRhinoBannisterThanks, Jeff. The route I mentioned was from Rome2Rio. Now I'm re-evaluating! Open jaw flight from US to Lisbon. Spend a couple days exploring, transfer to Porto to explore, train to Vigo and walk Vigo to SC via the variant. (this looks like it is just over the 100K) Train SC>Madrid and back to US. Thoughts?
@DaysWeSpend how about the certificate of marriage? Would be enough to present them a notarised copy with apostille? And one more question, please, did you show any passive income or just proof of savings would be enough? Many thanks

Thanks so much!

Thank you! We've all had those days on the Camino. The weather makes a bad introduction to a place.
If you go to Vigo without seeing Las Cíes Islands, you’re missing out. Try it next time. 🥰
As soon as they open up, we plan to visit them!

@cyranoEibar: al lado de la grandiosa Ría de Vigo, ni Caminito ni islote.
Visit Pontevedra
We will!
May 2018 walked by Vigo en route to Santiago de Compostella. Recall oysters farms in bay and gray skies.

They’re mostly mussels, I think.

Tell me why Mexican is ethnic food and Spanish isn't
Ethnic food depends on where you are. In Spain, Spanish food is local and anything else we would think of as ethnic.
Mexican food is very different from Spanish food. Lots of local influences in both countries.
