Growing Vegetables with Self Watering Planter l Cabbage, Lettuce and Green Onion

  • I went for grocery shopping for the first time in three weeks and I didn't want to throw away the roots.
So I planted them in self watering planters.
Having seen their growth day by day, I now actually get more joy from simply watching them grow than consuming them.

Would it help to slice off a thin layer at the bottom of the vegetable to reduce bacteria and encourage root growth?

      Yes! That’s so true!
Instead of seeing only successful example and wondering why mine kept dying, this shows what I did was normal!

a helpful tip for celery and lettuces: As you see they sprout new growth from the middle. Try removing leave from the outside first until there are only a few in the middle. Then root or plant. This should make it even easier to grow!

I'm glad to see someone else repurposes water bottles for growing plants! I use water bottles in a very similar fashion for rooting African violet leaves. I use sphagnum moss for my wick and regular potting soil, and keep the bottoms half or less full of water. Works very well!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful idea about Jasmine it would help you feel like you have a garden without a garden, great for Window dressing too add a few bamboo's keep them small indoors like Bonzi trees. HUG from across the pond keep smiling autumn tapestry is rare beauty worth seeing... You might even try knitting a picture of your plants and flowers into a scarf or cushion covers or a blanket .
