I've done the cabin filter in my Expedition twice now and I still come back to see how it's done every time... Did my wife's Mazda this morning... So much easier
What an awesome video!!! A little trial and error at first but your video nails it step by step! Thank you so much! Saves money and a trip to the shop to have it done. Please make more DIY videos on 2021 Ford Expeditions. I swear you sound like Chris Pratt which makes the video extra special.
Excellent video! I did not need to take out the top piece with 7mm bolts to expose the filter box, but not a problem removing and installing this part. Thanks for your help!
Thanks for your very detailed and to the point video, it was extremely helpful. I would like to beat the engineer that designed this process with a bamboo Cain. Much more difficult than my wife’s old Sienna or my 2019 Ram 1500. There should be an access panel in the rear of the glove box and no tools should be required. The regular air filter change only took 30 seconds.
Great video thanks for the help. I only have one suggesting, there really isn’t a need to disconnect the glove box light as you can gently let it have down as you replace the filter- not a big deal but just a small pointer. Great video!
Great detail. Easy peasy. And they told me to take it to the Ford service center. 😂 Thanks for making these videos to enable people to do it themselves!
I’m going to use this video to replace the air filter because I think I have dead mice in there. But what if they have got into the blow motor. Is it easy to get to that to clean up the mess?
Appreciate the video…first time changing was easy with the help of the video…. I have to say though that Ford doesn’t make it easy. I’ve owned Toyotas and Lexus my whole life and you have one step to access the cabin air filter.
Thank you for this video, even though working on cars isn’t new to me…having an $80k expedition max is, and I didn’t want to break any plastic parts on it :-) Thank you again it was very helpful.
Any ideas where to get replacement white clips at? I managed to break one but also doesn’t seem like I need it (like you mentioned). Just wanted to ask in case I break more on future filter replacements.
I would start by calling or visiting a Ford Dealerships parts department. They may have them but if not they may be able to at least give you the actual part number or the technical name so you can search for them online that way.
Is there a cabin air filter on a 2013 Ford Expedition? I can't seem to find it and some forums say this year (2013) did not have cabin air filters. Any ideas?
I can't find a definitive answer that either but I would not be surprised if a 2013 did not have one. Most but not all cabin filters are located behind the glovebox so I would start there to see if you can find one.
Thanks for posting PYR.. I own an Expedition and I just hate the new domestic engineering designs that auto techs have the use the "Grip it and Rip it" method to remove parts and components just to get to a cabin filter. There is no way any of those parts will last any more than 5 or 6 years with replacing a cabin filter maybe a few times.
I have mice in my car, and I think that they might be hanging out in the area of the cabin filter. Going to order a new filter and be brave and check it out.
I own a GMC Sierra and now an expedition. How stupid of Ford to bury the cabin air filter this deep. Every GM vehicle I've owned since 1999 was a simple couple minutes to get to the air filter and minimal disassembly. This is just stupid.
Probably the best example of the most horrible design I have ever seen!! It's as if Ford went out of their way to make it a royal PITA to replace a commonly replaced part. I'll add this to the list of my disappointments with this POS vehicle. Already replaced the lower half of the engine in the first year of ownership. Still burns 1 quart of oil every 2k miles. And that apparently is "within Ford specs". SMH
This is a terrible design! I got it changed and think I messed up the glove box light, maybe plugged in wrong. I’ll by a new expedition before I do that again! My air filter was filthy too! 1 1/2 years old truck
One of the best automotive DIY videos I have viewed. Very helpful and spot on for each step. Thank you.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
@@PYR-AutoAre there vehicles that really have no cabin air filters? Because i can't find one in mine. I've looked.
Thank you for this tutorial. Direct, to the point, and friendly. Just what I needed.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Leave it to FORD to complicate this process. Honda had the access door simply to the back of the glove box... no surgery required. Omg Ford.
Ford sucks
Fukn hate fords..
Really one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made is buying this Ford. Going directly back to Toyota ASAP.
Its not that difficult… took me two minutes
I've done the cabin filter in my Expedition twice now and I still come back to see how it's done every time... Did my wife's Mazda this morning... So much easier
Just sent this to my Mother, I have complete faith in her she can get it done with this amazing tutorial! ❤️
Awesome!
Thank you for sharing this video! I swapped out my cabin filter in 10 minutes! Fresh air again!
You're Welcome!

Great video!! Everything went exactly as you showed us. Super easy! Thank you so much! Wish everything was this easy to replace! LOL.
Glad it helped!

Yeah rams are ez pz
My 2022 expedition takes about 10 seconds to swap out a air filter just to side buttons on the glove box n it pops out
Thanks for the DIY video! This took me 20 minutes, awesome!
Great! You're Welcome!

Great video!! Could they make it any more difficult? Compared to other makers this is a PIA.
Thanks! Agreed!
One of the video on TH-cam, detailed 👌
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thank you for the support! It is appreciated!
Wow! How convenient! Lol thanks for the video

Thanks for watching!
Very helpful and informative, I'll be having Ford do this for me. Big hands and arthritis don't make good bed fellows for something like this.
Thanks for the video it does help a lot. Makes it very easy.
You're welcome!
Amazing - great video - thanks so much !!!
Excellent step-by-step video.
Thanks!
Can you add a video how to remove the dash panel above the glove box that houses the airbag?

Great video! Nice instructions. Thanks for the help!
Thanks! Glad it helped
Unbelievable how many steps it takes to swap out a filter. Coming from a long time Toyota owner.
Yes - hard to think it's made that way for any reason other than to try to get people to get it changed at the dealer
@@PYR-Auto you hit zee nail on the head my friend 👏🏼

So no need to pull the whole dash? 😅
Thanks!!! Perfect walk through.
You're Welcome!
Excellent
Thanks!
Does this affect the cold air blowing or it just helps with smell and cleaning the air?
just cleaning and smell
Thank you for this video!
You're Welcome!
Where can I buy the filter ? Thanks
Your local auto parts start will likely have these in stock - otherwise there are many places online that will have them such as Amazon.

This is old but to answer your question, Ford only has the cabin filters on the 2015s and forward
Thanks, 2020 FORD EXPEDITION MAX.

That's why i love Japanese car .
Our 2023 Limited does not have the middle part nor the glove box light...good times
this is for the 2018-2021
Excellent!
Thanks!
Well done.
Thanks!
So this will help my misfire n a way.cuz I did change it out now coil 3,5 now misfire.
no - this will not fix a engine that is misfiring

good luck!
Dumbest thing ever. Why would they make it this difficult to change a filter. Thanks for taking the time
To show us how to do this
Jesus Christ all this to replace a cabin filter? I got a 2022 Expedition and it’s literally takes 10 seconds 😂😂😂
Thanks
You're Welcome!
Wow, that was dumb engineering for the air filter! I want to slap every single one of Ford's engineers for coming up with this.
Thorough.
Oh so thats where the filter is! lol
I own a GMC Sierra and now an expedition. How stupid of Ford to bury the cabin air filter this deep. Every GM vehicle I've owned since 1999 was a simple couple minutes to get to the air filter and minimal disassembly. This is just stupid.
That cabin air filter must be made out of gold because why on earth is thatbthing sealed up like fort knox?
lol
What a pain this process is. Good lord this is ridiculous.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🌹🌹
You almost about to break it. What a bad design..!!
Yeah its pretty tight
Too many steps for an American daily. 😔 You can do better Ford.
areu kidding me Ford????? wtf???? why so cumbersome????
All this for a filter? I'd rather pay to get it done.
