  • This video is all about our road to the summit of Mt. Rainier during the 2023 climbing season. This video includes three points in time between February, May, and June. The first two points in time are all about training and recon in and around Paradise Park, the Muir snowfield, and Camp Muir. The second half of the video includes our entire summit climb via Camp Schurman and the Emmons/Winthrop Glaciers.

Thank You. I try to give viewers the full circle. Climbing is more than just the ascent of a peak.

At 5:17 - Left to right >> Castle Peak - Pinnacle Peak - Eagle Peak
I've been on top of all three. Twice on Pinnacle!

So Awesome. The peaks of the Tatoosh are a world all of their own. Trying to climb Lane via its Zipper within the next month.

Got to include wildlife if possible. He only cared about one thing in that moment and did not give much notice to us. There was actually a cougar in Glacier Basin a week before we came through.

Like the crater, a full circle. It was good spending time with you in the Muir shelter. Looking forward to our September trip.

DSV, I'm looking for some boot advice for summer trips of Baker and Shuksan. I'd rather not use my heavy and stiff ice climbing boots and want to go lighter. But how light is the question. Light and more comfortable with no insulation or heavier and stiffer with insulation. My feet tend to run a lil cold but the comfort of the La Sportiva Aequilibrium LT GTX is hard to ignore from my living room at least. thx

During the summer it is quite warm on the glaciers on those mountains. With boots I believe it is a very important choice because comfort is at stake. Light and more comfortable might be the best so long as they are water proof. You can always add insulation with your socks. Sarah went light and comfortable and loves it.
