This Babar Azam bashing is getting overdone and overcooked.. Its become addictive for ex players to sit on TV channels and abuse. Sanjay Manjrekar once said '' a bits and pieces player''; probably describes Shoaib Mallik. SM has an excellent physique that helped him take his career forward. One thing i must add is that SM is the only current player that debuted in 1999 and still playing ( pls correct me if there are others too).

I don't think Malik is wrong.. I am talking from a purely logical point.. who will Babar replace in India or England or Australia.. Australia left Smith behind, remember.
Anyways, stat wise babar will become perhaps the greatest ever in T 20.. but a major chunk of his runs may not have any value.. Look how Virat and Rohit completely changed their approach and style, adapted to uncomfortable scenarios for the sake of the team.. Virat was flipping at opening, yet he never came back to no 3, despite not getting runs he was going after the bowling from the start, though it doesn't suit him..but team comes first.. Babar immediately went back to opening when Sam Ayub failed with Rizwan..he could have stayed at 3 and give chance to another opener.. but he didn't..
Rohit also completely changed his style, no waiting for half century or century..just go after everyone .. naturally their stats will get affected.. however team strategy matters to them , not stats..
Babar never have shown any such intent to reinvent himself or to adapt to uncomfortable position for the team. He also plays all the series irrespective of importance..
Babar has to come out of such statpadding and show that he can adapt and reinvent himself for the team.. otherwise he may score 10000 runs it T20, it won't matter.
Muhammad Rizwan is far better t20 player than babar azam but never gets the lime light. He was offered captaincy after 2022 asia cup but he refused
