Already utilizing my skills! I used to be a cook in high end kitchens... I also have a canner. I over prepped 3 weeks ago when I saw what was coming (I was looking at Italy). I began doing bulk shops at the farmer's markets and costco knowing a lot of my friends and their extended family might not prep in time.
I began cooking and canning a few weeks back. I made bulk chicken stock and canned it. Salsa, veggie chili, pickles, peeled tomatoes, etc all made from scratch and canned. Then I began making massive batches of fresh pasta and drying them in individual servings.
I have a modest garden with some kale, rosemary, cilantro, cucumber, and lemon trees.
I began assembling care packages for people once grocery stores began to empty and friends began running out of food or being laid off.
I've delivered a few locally here and now we're getting ready to ship a bunch out.
It has brought a little lightness to people going through some very dark times. I too was shamed by someone claiming I could spread the virus... This was insulting to me because I've been certified many times in food handling, have used gloves through the entire process, and waited almost 10 days in isolation with my wife before I delivered food to anyone. But there you go...
I have enough raw ingredients to still feed myself and wife for 6 months and continue to send out care packages with food to anyone who needs a life line or just a reason to smile.

Great economics and history lesson Curtis! Get prepared for the coming changes people! Move outside of the city, create community, build skills, and start growing your own food.

The trouble is of course that if everyone, or even 10-20% of people, move out of the cities... we'd just have more different "cities" with no infrastructure. Times are tough in rural America too, not just the huge population centers.
This is a country with 330,000,000 people. We cannot simply just all run out to the country and grow all our own food; not even a quarter of us could. I'll wager not even a tenth would ever even try on their own, much less succeed at it.
Libertarians hate that cliche' "We live in a SOCIETY!" ...but there really is a point to it.

If you can't get out of the city, grow your own within the city! London provided 45% of it's own food during WW2. And grow some on the verge in front of your house, between the sidewalk and road, if you have that space. Make it a place where you can share with the neighbours.... part of the 'heart' thing. Good will goes a long way in times like these.

I am so sorry people are calling the police on each other. God bless Texas, none of that nonsense going on here. I am finding people being very supportive and helpful of each other, at least here in Austin. In fact, the president of the community garden where one of my plots are, issued a message to the rest of us saying, "instead of social distancing, let's practice physical distancing" but keep the social. In other words, lets continue to be neighborly and talk to each other while at the garden from a reasonable distance. Everyday I am realizing more and more what truth to power that message was.

Head, hands, and heart. I like that Curtis. I also like your philosophies and I truly appreciate what I have learned from you on growing food. I do truly believe that being a person willing to help others is an essential part of being a good human person. I would only add that in addition to your philosophies concerning what’s in your heart is that I have, and it is so available to everyone, that peace that passes all understanding from having giving my heart to Christ. With that, I am able to walk daily without fear yet with the true desire to live as Christ has taught us. Whether you know it or not, you have so accurately described what He teaches about how we treat others.

Well said, this can be a real wake up call and possibly turn into some real hard times. I’m so thankful I have been really poor but pulled myself out of it by going to college and becoming a nurse. Once I started making an income, I paid off everything, saved and lived way below my means. I live on the edge of a forest with lakes, wildlife and a lot of foraging possibilities plus I have a big garden, canning supplies and knowledge!!!
Being poor has taught me how to survive and I have a heart to help others, so I’ve been preparing for this too !!!
    Stay safe
    Stay strong
    Stay kind
Social distancing is beneficial, people just don’t listen to how it should be done and they take it too far or not at all......it’s common sense people !!!

I agree! The leaders of our church have counseled us to have a years supply of food if possible. I love it has given us the opportunity to bless other people’s lives. Because I Garden I have been getting lots of texts and calls on how to start a garden. I have given so many seedlings away.and sold a lot of them this week. We have been given the opportunity to see what we can do. Individually, as a family, community, state and nation to be better prepared. Learning what your weaknesses are can help you turn them to strengths.

I understand it's huge, and I'll be out of my depth and overwhelmed, but I don't care about that. thinking neighbors will like it. community garden has covid restrictions and fees involved. plus, is there an easy way to "cover it all over" like a diy greenhouse? 60' × 200", excluding the house.

Love your videos Curtis. Just to put your mind at ease over the hyper inflation that you are worried about, here are a few points to clarify. Fractional reserve banking is the money multiplier and we all think that the banks have to keep a fraction of all deposits. If you check Reserve Requirement in Wikipedia you will see that Canada and here in Australia there has not been a reserve requirement imposed on banks for decades - although they are self regulated so they do keep some reserve but nowhere near 10%. In Australia this has resulted in 98% of our money (97% in the UK and probably similar in Canada) not actually existing, it only represents someone’s debt. See money supply in Wikipedia, the charts show how the removal of the fractional reserve requirement has led to the growth in debt money in circulation while the line representing real money has hardly moved. So, in an economic downturn, all the money that doesn’t exist can literally disappear causing the economy to grind to a halt. It has to be replaced with real money printed by the reserve banks. The problem is where this money is introduced into the economy. As you said, if it goes to the banks that would not be good. However, this crisis is very different. It is the people that need the money to survive as we have to go into lockdown. If a Government is accepting new money from the reserve banks then that new money should belong to all the people of that country. A temporary Universal Basic Income for the duration of the crisis would ease a lot of tensions and anxiety and as it is replacing money that has disappeared from the economy there should not be hyperinflation. However, some inflation would be good, especially if everyone had the UBI to cover it as mortgage payments would become a smaller part of your overall budget. This is a complex field but Positive Money UK have a range of 2 minute videos that explain money creation very well. Good luck and good gardening to all.

Your one of the most switched on people I've ever heard from Curtis. I have thought the same over the recent weeks. If ever there was a time for people to search their hearts that time is now!
There are many people who are so self loathing and full of hate they look forward to the death and suffering of people and even the entire human race. As a younger man i myself flirted with such fantasies.
For all the hurt people can cause they are still the joy of life. Not all people are equal and you can never judge a book by its cover.
While we still have the freedom I want to thank you for sharing some of your life with me.
May you, your family and community live long and prosper through this attack on the human heart.

Wise counsel. During the 2008 financial collapse it became very clear how important "faith" is. When people couldn't determine the value of assets it became clear how dependent we are on the value of our money and the willingness of others to "honor" that value. But when people lose faith (trust) in the currency and they are not connected to each other we can have big problems. COVID just reinforced that for me. We have "systematized" life to such a degree through the finances that we don't think we need each other in terms of committed relationships. Trust in Jesus is also an integral part of to what I mentioned before and the (true) church is built on the kind of relationships I just mentioned.

I totally agree, but not that isolation and handwashing is important in any way. On the contrary, we need to be with eachother, hugging and so on. It gives us hormones like serotonin, the feel good one. And washing hands will only make them cleaner, it wont help you stay healthy as virus don't live outside the body. But you are so right on many things, whats in the heart. Yes!!

on the lame stream media point, it is what Voldemort did to Harry in Harry potter. He was isolating him to the point where he was on his own, and then he would be easier to take out, because he was on his own. Also human beings are social creatures, and we need to communicate. Self-isolation is going to be a death sentence, for people mentally, physically and spiritually.

Much respect, very few people have the capability to think anymore due to "social media influence" let alone think rationally, they prefer to "be first" with the rumours instead of doing real research into any topic that is sensationalized!!
May you and yourn ride this coming wave of a crash and we shall see you on the other side!!

Garden that’s about all I’ve got but enough where we can start finding other options on the mean time

It all depends on how you want to talk about it. The current global financial system you call "A Scam" is one of the greatest systems mankind has ever seen. It has fueled the advancement of so many wonderful things (and bad obviously). I am still positive about the last 100 years of growth and development. Let's use this to clean up the bad half, like corruption and pollution and other things.
