I feel like you had the opportunity to keep it as a companion but when you started shoving it with a stick it was confused like “Wait I thought we were chill ” , then it was just trying to inspect the car haha
the bobcat is scare of you guys. he think you coud attack if him lost attention, so if you want him to get away, just leave him for a secon and when you com back, he already disapeared!

You guys badly need a catch pole. I always have one with me in case I get a dog or cat or other unwanted. They are expensive to buy but you can make a cheap one out of 5 foot 2" PVC pipe, two fitting PVC caps and 8 foot of plastic coated 3-32 airplane cable. Look it up on here PVC catch pole and catch pole trap release.
