"We need to get as many blightcysts as possible and then we win" "16 blightcysts!? From a glade event?! We dont want that! No i'll pick the other thing!"
Found this game watching you play it, Potato. Picked it up at a good discount on Steam. Great game! Keep producing these videos -- there as good as your Civ videos -- and your mom!
Just wanted to say, I ended up buying this game because of your videos, and I'm really enjoying it. Wish I'd had a discount code so I could tell the developers that you turned me on to it! (It was discounted regardless, Steam Winter Sale, but I just think you deserve some credit)
I absolutely love how you explained your actions through this playthrough! We need more content creators like you too many just assume people know why they are doing something. I learned a lot by you explaining your actions which some were different than what I was doing but failing in my playthrough of this map. Great job man, you have a subscriber in me!
Curious to watch you do more AtS content. It was really fun to see how you approached your first seal, and there's plenty more content for you to mess around with.
If you want to learn a lot of shortcuts and stuff, watch Winter Gaming play it. I learned how incredibly useful all the different overlays you can use are, it's really neat.
Damn man more people need to like these videos because I don’t really want this to be a short lived series. AoW 4 and now this, love civ but these have been great games for me to discover and watch Potato play
So interesting to see you putting down a grid of streets. I've just been putting buildings up against each other in a wad, maybe with a path out to outlying glades if I happen to have an idle villager.
Not sure he realizes that building paths around houses don't mean anything since villagers never go to the houses to rest, but they go to the campfire. It looks nicer though and hurts less on lower prestige where space may be a bigger problem because you can't have as many woodcutters at the same time etc.
Holy moly potato! I just finished the first video of the series of Against the Storm and was going to comment on your most recent video for you to continue it and BAM already 2 more videos you are insane!!! Thank you! And keep going!!!
So honest question: at about 1:12:00, Potato chooses to not pick the option that would spawn 16 cysts. Is it just that the purifiers don't burn them down fast enough or what, because these cysts would be enough to push him over the edge for the cleansing goal?
16 cysts would have added a LOT of corruption to the hearth. My guess is that there was a risk that the purifiers wouldn't be able to deal with them all (especially considering they were understaffed most of the round), and that it may have led to a death spiral.
One blightrot post can handle 20-25 cysts/storm. Nothing really bad happens with high corruption, you just loose 3 villagers. Potato was overpopulated.@@CamoCraft109
@willbrolley262 I think he picked lesser evil because spawned cysts also increases hostility, and he already had high hostility because of glade event for 1 minute into storm, and without glade event it had high hostility due to high amount of workers and years passes, opened glades. He could do it by building 1 or 2 more purifiers, but as i said his choice was less risky. I had games when i almost won, just to have too much cysts even with 2 purifiers, and i got impatience from lost villagers and gg. I would pick 16 cysts option.
Not sure if you know this already, but there are also overviews for rain engines (hold TAB) and for recipes (hold control). They make managing the town MUCH easier imo
Bought the game after the videos. Really nice game and even better to see a new series! Anxious for the next one (yes i came here looking for the next episode, WHERE IS IT POTATO? WE NEED MORE)
This was your first bronze seal? How do you have so many upgrades?? I just reached the sealed forest and I doubt I'll win it. I am only level 5. Should I have just skipped it and reset the world without doing it? What are these rain engine things? Would you consider making a guide? Your Civ guides are so good, I bet you'd make a great one!
He has upgrades because he played before seals were added to the game. Try to do them anyway, worst case you lose a map. No penalty anyway. You probably don't have rain engines yet but they're optional anyway.
@@yaelz6043 I did it on pioneer. It went pretty well. Took like 10 years, but I got pretty lucky with a lot of things. My hostility didn't go above 0 until year 9, and I got an achievement for not going above 2 impatience the entire game. I've never had a run go that smooth before, it was crazy. I feel like maybe that was a 1-off, but maybe it's time to try veteran? I'm still new to the game and not at all a "veteran" so that sounds crazy, but that map was way easier than I expected.
@@scully4life i absolutely recommend upping the difficulty. Better lose and understand why than just win on easy mode. Just be ready to sit at hostility 5 every storm.
Just bought the game in sale before christmas and am binging it ever since. It's been a long time since a game hooked me like this! Made me look for youtube content on the game, too. Unfortunately there seem to be very few bigger content creators covering it. I would absolutely love to see more of it coming from you! But please... up the difficulty 🙏 the stakes in your games are a bit too low to really captivate. You are never really in any danger.
Hi there! I see you play a lot of nice games and as you can imagine, I can't watch your whole gallery of vids. It would be great if you could have somewhere a list or (even better) a short video browsing through all games you played so far, so a newcomer (like me) could check it and see what is fitted for him to watch in depth. Thanks!
Most of the time, it seems to me that is better to wait when you spend a reputation bonus. Opening a glade may change everything, like discovering a huge resorce on a glade or getting a specific order. it may not make a difference in low prestige games, but it certainly makes a difference in high prestige games.
Damn, they totally revamped the Sealed Forest for the full release. It used to be much easier because you could win those maps through Reputation like anywhere else.
You had the small farm, and the oil presser for most of the game. With those you can produce endless amounts of oil. You also had loads of unused fertile soil, and at times 15 unemployed population. When cutting trees cause hostility, it is imperative to move to another source of fuel for your hearth, and industry...
@PotatoMcWhiskey I think devs fixed it, coal and copper no longer appear beneath trees, and there is always 3x3 space around ore. There was button that showed all water buildings, alt, ctrl, shift or tab, don't remember, so you don't have to click on each building to hunt storm water buildings. 4 or 5 hearts and 78 workers, nice game. I am at gold seal for now. Didn't know there was 8 seals, nice, plenty of content :).
Thanks for the extra content. I feel like maybe the auto release was configured wrong. I liked this game variant: just getting points meant previous games ended too fast. With the alternate ending requirement, it really reshaped how the game is played.
There's this other quite good city builder I'd recommend you check out, its songs of syx, it has a slower pace, but you get to make some quite grand and intricate cities.
I tried this game but it just wasn't for me but I'm happy you enjoy it. I'm just sat here waiting for the next civ video. Got all this time between Christmas and New year to fill so help me out 😂. Love ya buddy, keep up the great work.
The most important resource on this map is oil. You want to produce oil asap so you don't need wood as a fuel source. Otherwise hostility gets out of control
How is it possible to have so much tech but zero seals? When you come back with an old save doesn't it ask you to to either restart or auto progress to part way through the game?
Aaaah the fact you were so upset about not getting lizard resolve high enough but you forgot you can deactivate woodcutters to reduce hostility and you literally only needed to get rid of one woodcutter, since I can't recall that you ever had the perk that reduced woodcutter hostility in this run.
@@kayedongamesAh I didn't know because I haven't played that map myself. Then I think he should have worked harder on getting that bakery online for pies at an earlier point.
Please, if your able, create more 'Against the Storm' content, its a great game. And your way of presenting it is inspiring!
"We need to get as many blightcysts as possible and then we win" "16 blightcysts!? From a glade event?! We dont want that! No i'll pick the other thing!"
That event is amazing if you have the cornerstones for benefit
He could have won so much faster with that, but whatever. We're not here for super optimized play.
This man is singlehandedly entertaining us for Xmas. Happy Xmas potato you beautiful bastard.

Same thing here! Never would have discovered the game without ’Tato, enjoying it a lot
Potato taking a pop off of something and adding it to something else when he has a massive unemployment problem in his town just drives me nuts

16 cysts would have added a LOT of corruption to the hearth. My guess is that there was a risk that the purifiers wouldn't be able to deal with them all (especially considering they were understaffed most of the round), and that it may have led to a death spiral.

This game is awesome. Im still stuck on the last seal after probably 5-10 runs to try to complete it. Its brutal to get enough shards tbh.
Seriously. 2nd last seal I can do in my sleep but that last one is harsh.
