Thank you for this! My Nigerian husband approved it and my Lithuanian best friend tried it for the first time with her British husband - it was a hit 🔥
Jidenna did a great job pounding the akwu,it’s thick and must taste delicious please I need a plate of the soup I have rice, beans and plantain. Omo mummy life no be here
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?! I don’t understand why so many recipe content creators just assume everyone knows what you’re filming? The first step is to prepare my fresh ingredients; what are they? What’s the paste made from? It’d certainly be good to know that for sure because it seems like the paste is a major part of the dish. Something THIS amazing (& I believe that it IS) & as someone who’s never had it, I definitely don’t want to GUESS what the integral components of the dish are! Thank you for posting!
My Ghanaian friend told me the most important components of egusi soup are meat (any of your choice), tomato, red pepper, garlic, ginger, and maggi cube. Optional components are an assortment of meats (eg smoked fish, goat, beef, chicken), spice/ pepper, shrimp/ crayfish powder. Finally, you can eat this meal with rice or swallow (different pounds root vegetables which depend on the tribe/ nation). If you can, try to eat it first before you cook it so you can understand the flavors.
@@cutieee_xHello. She did not. You understand already because you are raised with this food or are knowledgeable of it. Someone who has never heard of this food would not understand what the podcaster is saying.
The puree is red peppers, tomatoes, or a combination of both and it can include ginger, garlic, and hot pepper if you want. That are usually the ingredients when you see West Africans adding this red mixture
@@eve3363Is there a name for the red mixture? I've used it so much lately (I'm new to West African cooking) for Efo Riro, Groundnut, and now Egusi- it's like the Sofritto or Mirepoix of African cooking.
Is it completely unacceptable to eat it with rice? I can't make Fufu to save my life and I'm not a big fan of it- so far Semolina is okay, but I'd still rather rice.
Girl what kind of instructions are these ?? You have a very strong accent not everyone can understand subtitles will help along w you putting WHAT you used to make your soup. This didn’t help me at all I’m going to have to look elsewhere for better instructions
