    Pike bottlenecks | What may be limiting you - 02:16
    Pike stretches | How I taught myself to Pike - 05:23

    PNF stretching is my favourite too! It really feels like a workout when you do it.

    your background is really similar to mine. I hadn't ever stretched for years while I played rugby (except maybe during the odd warm up or warm down session). It is great to know that it isn't just me

      I think that is the real problem with these sort of sport in not focusing enough on encouraging athletes to move well. I do get it, there are so many things for coaches to focus on that so things can take the back stage, but mobility should be the foundation of all sportforms

    Excellent video! Is there an alternate position for the sciatic nerve flossing? Only because it's a little rough on my knee that's on the ground.

    Love this video Andrew! I can't pike well at all which means my pike Pushup form is so horrible I don't feel I'm doing the same exercise. Hopefully this helps.

    • @CaliToTheCrowd
      @CaliToTheCrowd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I hear that! the frustration with flexibility can be a real problem. Try this out for a while, but don't worry if your pike mobility isn't the best in the meantime - it will soon come 💪🏿

    Will any of the stretches you mentioned help gain the mobility required to hold an L-sit? I’ve been trying for a while but can’t keep my legs straight, and struggle to get them to 90 degrees. Good video as always 👍

    • @CaliToTheCrowd
      @CaliToTheCrowd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah so pike flexibility will definitely help with the L-sit, but the strength to do it will still need to be trained.
      Here are the exercises that helped me with straightening out the legs (and dealing with cramp): th-cam.com/video/-obqBV2cZRc/w-d-xo.html

    i have a question im the same way im 15 i play basketball i can touch my toes but for only like a second then it starts burning bad hopefully this vid helps me . And also at the end of the vid are u supposed to message before u stretch or after

    • @CaliToTheCrowd
      @CaliToTheCrowd  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all, good job that you are starting to pay attention to your flexibility. I would suggest reducing the intensity a little bit, as muscles are able to stretch more once your CNS realises that you are relaxed. spend about 30 seconds in a deep stretch (but not painful) and just breathe.
      Also I usually do foam rolling before a stretching session so that I can really get into the knots =]

    Hi Andrew,
    I came up a good 6 inches short when trying to touch my toes, a veritable mountain to climb :)
    I came across a video that suggested it may not be down to the hamstrings and it proved to be correct. Within 5 minutes i was able to get within an inch of reaching my toes, it was amazing. I will still need to stretch my hamstrings a few inches, a far less daunting prospect than 6". Its worth checking out and maybe jotting down in your book of tips and tricks. All the best

      Just watched the video and its a phenomenal take on likely reasons inhibiting pike range of motion! Thanks so much for suggesting, John!!!
