@@sunsin1592 That's not his problem. It's a problem with the sourcebook "Oriental Adventures". The people who wrote it weren't trying too hard make already existing material match Asian mythologies/fantasy. I get the feeling the target market was non-Asians who were interested in having an oriental campaign. Consider that they tended to favour non-Chinese and non-Japanese romanization like wade-giles and hepburn for Chinese and Japanese-sounding words respectively rather than Chinese favoured ones like hanyu pinyin (which you mentioned. Also, I believe Asians who are familiar with D&D don't have many problems adjusting core stuff to oriental campaigns. I honestly always thought there was a bit of redundancy with the lungs. A lot of the main true dragons could easily have been retrofitted or modified slightly for an oriental campaign. The gold dragon was directly inspired by Chinese dragons (look at the 2nd Ed wingless version), and the myth of the Yellow Emperor's (huangdi) triumph over the Red Emperor (yandi) was the start of China proper. They can literally just be represented by red and gold dragons. lol
So... basically, Chinese Mythology set the stage for a potential sequel where the vengeful yandi returns, overthrows the rightful Emperor, and establishes an evil, ‘Red’ regime...?
Love the chinese imperial court accent on your chinese words, that deliberate over pronunciation and extending of the words was favoured by eunuchs in the imperial court historically. Your announcers and lesser dignitaries in Lung's households and courts should definitely speak that way. The hour of the silent dragon approaches, may the grace of heaven smile on you!
In early D&D, Gold Dragons looked very much like Lung Dragons. Did they ever give a reason for changing the aesthetics of the Gold Dragon to a more western winged look?

AJ! You are among my favorite youtubers! Your work is second to none, when it comes to D&D! I love this video! It takes me back to my days of playing 1st edition D&D with my dad when I was a kid. He was in the Military, and he and his friends would play D&D to pass the time. He still has all of his 1st edition books, along with the used ones I found in book/comic/game stores, I added Oriental Adventures, along with several of its modules, to "our" collection. Another interesting vid. I loved trying to figure out how you could explain how a Oriental or Lung dragon could fly even though they did not have wings without falling back on magic. Even went so far as to make a a dragonic sub-race related to the Lung dragons that was kinda like the Imugi of Korean mythology, and create a adventure in which the group was tasked by a scholar to find an bring them samples of these creatures to study. Thru the adventures the group came up with the idea that the creature had two long air-bladder like sacs that ran along either side of the serpentine body they had, and that these were attached to a pair of organs that could produce a lighter than air gas that could allow them to float, but then that they could also expel this gas from different horn-like nozzles that covered its body to maneuver themselves thru the air in different directions.

In real life, they didn't have a creature close to them other than dragon, so they were named dragon and the word lóng became synamous with dragon, thus the idea of Chinese having the name "dragon".

Well if the lung can control scales water creatures what about if the lung was in the same area as a black dragon would it neutralize it or what
good point . i think any mortal creature can hear the call but after a certain point with intellect and power. It could just pay it no mind like a phone call you can't stop ringing.
I think "Egyptian" gods could be called "Kien". This was supposed to be old name of their culture i'v heard...
16:40 if it is a 2e thing make it 9'th level for 5e conversion as 7'th level is the max divine spell slot in 2e except quest and true dwemor etc
why is divine wind wizard spell
Good question... I dunno.
can someone explain what this means its from the monster manual lich
This tether lasts until initiative count 20 on the next round or until the lich or the target is no longer in the lich's lair
I love them 😍
That Lagiacrus doe
Where are ya gettin the 5e stats for the lung dragons my dude????
are they true dragons? also with are they as powerful as chromatic and metallic?
In real life, they didn't have a creature close to them other than dragon, so they were named dragon and the word lóng became synamous with dragon, thus the idea of Chinese having the name "dragon".
Zion The Dragon no im asking if theyre true dragon like do they get more powerful as the get older. But thanks for the reply anyways
@@Borkeen2024 well, as far as my knowledge goes, they WERE (Past tense) true dragons, and are listed as true dragons, BUT in original/older material, no they were not. Also, they are also listed as spirits, aka NOT living creatures in the D&D universe, so take the true-ness with BAGS of salt. And they gained more types of powers and abilities as they aged, but intelligence & powers DIDN'T increase. And they changed species, this is all in 2e. In 1e they were not.
Where can can i find more about this? A book with stats or something or campaing o with the lore or something xp
Its Flamey from Secret of Mana
are lungs true dragons?
Yes

Stay Puft
Mother puss bucket is one of the greatest utterances in the history of cinema.
How have I not noticed that line before. Perhaps it was too unexpected for my mind to comprehend. I did not know I could appreciate that movie more than I already did. This was the highlight of my birthday.
Happy Birthday!
Thanks : )
You really should do better research, this was not based on l5r
LOL, ok, thanks for the feedback. Of course its not based on Legend of the Five Rings. And just a friendly tip, using an acronym (with a number in it, no less) without first using the full title you are contracting, is counter productive to actually communicating with people (thankfully I speak fluent geek, so I can pluck that nugget out of the realm of gibberish and answer you). Have a great day, enjoy your games!
