  • This video shows the operations of modeling a beam-to-column connection in a non-linear field. In particular, we will illustrate the geometric modeling, reproduction of the contact between head flange and flange, bolts, definition of combined plasticity by Von Mises , insertion of geometric imperfections following a buckling analysis , improvement of boundary conditions and definition of the displacement control analysis, suitable for determining the capacity, moment-deformation curve of the connection. This modeling aims to show SAP2000 capacity that any type of connection can be easily adapted to real cases.
This is the story of the step-by-step deformations, highlighting the local instability behavior due to buckling of the connection core panel. Two versions of the same model will be made: with and without stiffeners of the column web panel.

That is something cool. We had done something similar like that before. If only sap2000 had available modules/plugins for such steel connections, it would have been nice.

Thanks. Actually there is a plugin to do such connections. IDEA StatiCa Connection plugin works nicely with SAP2000. The below link is an example of it.

sir, Can u give the link of video from where I can design similar steel beam column using bolted connection and the pushover analysis of that frame....That will be very helpful.
