This year my Dodge had weak battery as it was over 5 years old. So I purchased a battery desulfator and again it didn't work. So I had to purchased another battery, I purchased a a gm battery as these lead acid batteries suck. The agm batteries were running about $350 but I found it walmart for under $190. I almost want to build a lifepo4 battery with a massive Bms so I can avoid these useless expensive car batteries!
Great job in that you updated us giving us all the info we need. In the end we now know if someone hasn't the money for a new battery, they may get by, at least in warm weather until they can get a new battery. Plus, we know if the guage even touches the BAD range, its time to replace if at all possible or make see sure we carry a jump starter, or at the very least jumper cables.
I’m glad you liked the video and I’m really thinking about upgrading to a lfp battery next time my Prius 12 volt goes bad as they are nearly the same price and on the Prius the motor is not start using the 12 volt. I have a Prius c now so it might be time in about one year. I just need to find a 50 lfp battery with at least a 100 amp bmw.
Nice video! I was getting ready to do this but having seen your update at the end, I will just go and buy a new battery! Thanks for saving me from wasting my time!
Yeah, I tried on to rescue my battery a few more times since the Prius and every time it’s a unsuccessful. Here is the resent update th-cam.com/video/cV6NewPWo2E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mkpZ_v6spkUIeaKq Try to buy an agm battery vs the flood acid batteries as the last longer and less prone overheating. Good luck 🍀
Walmart said my battery was low amps so i just cleaned it and put purified water in it. Still works so ill leave it in for now. I didn't use distilled but too late.
Wonder if there any actual proof non distilled water will significantly hurt a battery? I ask because it has been said for years and even today that storing a battery on concrete will kill it, but guess what...not true. I would love to see some experiments proving non distilled water will ruin a battery.
Just be ready and prepared if you get stranded again. I had key Keylime battery desulfator that help battery but only newer batteries not to revive older batteries. There is a battery solution called battery water ( yellow container) that may help but I’ve never tried. I just opt in for an agm battery whenever possible as these flood acid batteries are hopeless. Keep me posted about your experience.
Will i be able to start the car soon after the refill? Some say we should run about 20km after refill, so battery re charges it self, but my question is would it even start soon after refill?
If any of the acidic fluids from inside the battery had wasted or gotten on anything, hr would have used the baking soda water to neutralize it and clean that area. DO NOT PUT BAKING SODA INSIDE THE BATTERY.
So they said charge the battery and then add water? So do did they say to charge again after you add the water? I don't see the benefit of doing it that way but I'm open to learning.
I'm elderly and once I grabbed the baster, I assumed I must be forgetting the turkey, so long story short, the battery will now have to wait, but I'll eat well tonight.

Just noticed, by your wording, and the way you made up the baking soda solution, then went back to the plastic cup, it appeared, or will at least appear to some like you put the baking soda solution in the battery. Question 1) you didnt do that, righr? 2) since the baking soda in the battery will neutralize the battery acid, Im very concerned some will make the mistake of putting the neutralizing solution (baking soda and water) into the battery, something that may ruin it. Am I the only one seeing this? Or did I misunderstand something? If I did misunderstand, are some viewers likely to do the same? Easy mistake to make so, if I'm right, no judgment here.
I just watched the video to make sure I didn’t mislead anyone, the distilled water cup is near empty when I remove and so the neutralizing water which near full. Thank you again for your feedback. I will never create a video unless it has some sort of usefulness in the world and if you ever find a proven method for repair bad battery please send it my way as these batteries are super expensive.
No worries, thank you again I will to try be even clearer in the future. I am learning too. I just tried this again on my 2014 grand caravan and again it didn’t work. So I had to pay 200 dollars for another battery but this time I got an agm.
Good video, However... a lot of talking and very little information. I think the car on fire thing is important but I have NEVER seen or heard of a car catching on fire like that.
Is it okay to run the car/truck all night or drive to charge the batteries? Instead of having one of those battery chargers. I have 8 batteries that l will fill up with distilled water and l would like know if l just keep running the truck to get them charged.
Sure you can do that if the batteries are in good condition however 8 batteries might be a lot of hooked up at once. I high suggest getting a load tester so you can identify dmamges batteries fast and recycle them. Like this one th-cam.com/video/Zpe_oOUZsUs/w-d-xo.html
Car batteries do not require water refills anymore .We ain't had to refill a battery in probably 25 years . Not to mention , tampering with a car battery is very dangerous . I have personally witnessed a battery explode in a man's face . I don't know if he ever got his sight back .
Why would someone buy this over one that doesn't take water? More specifically, why in the world would my 60 year old brother buy this type for my 80 year old mother. 🤦♂️ 😂
@@RANDOMFIX You answered it perfectly at 7:30 into the video, in writing. I was taught (in auto shop in 1971) to fill to just at or below where the end of the plastic inspection hole is, looking down the cell hole toward the cell plates. You might want to edit or delete your post to my response.
Nope, I dead battery is a dead battery. I won't not risk it for myself. Again it may work for a few days, weeks, or even months but I'm would not take the chance.
Good day Sir, so what do you conclude? That there is no point adding water? Maybe its because, as in your video, once those plates are exposed then they are permanently damaged. So maybe adding water works only if the cells havent yet been exposed? And you dont say in your video wether to fully charge the battery BEFORE adding distilled and in charging the battery AFTER adding distilled you should wait about 30 mins, as mentioned in some other videos.
Just adding distrilled does not do much at least my case. Yes, you need to charge it after adding the distilled water. I will try the battery water ( the yellow bottle) in a future video.
Good job on this, and thank you for the 3 month follow-up and for being candid on the results! Good job!
Any time! Thank you for the feedback.
Props for posting the follow up 👍🏼
Thank you
Thank you for your honest review. I've seen a video telling that this method will make the battery last for years.
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to post this.
Lavelling water is like checking the oil. Maintenance... thank you for good video.
lol i thought it wouldnt work, thanks for the honesty at the end compared to all those fake youtubers!!!

Thank you so much for the great feedback
Thanks for the information 👍
Glad to help

This guy has seen everything. Wow!
Brah only issue i see is the two waters are in the same type cup and are not marked, otherwise appreciate the detail thanks.
Thank you for your feedback, much apprecated!
Thank you. Appreciate the great info.
Glad it was helpful!
Yes it does really work..😊😊😊😊
Please share your method.

@@RANDOMFIXeventually it will corrode because of the mineral…
Just added DISTILLED to my Diehard battery, may have overfilled a bit. Any advice?

In my case it didn’t last three weeks so getting 20km will be hard.
What did you use the soda/distilled water for?
The baking soda is normally for the refrigerator and the distilled water was for the video.
If any of the acidic fluids from inside the battery had wasted or gotten on anything, hr would have used the baking soda water to neutralize it and clean that area. DO NOT PUT BAKING SODA INSIDE THE BATTERY.

Thank you for the great feedback
so did the new battery work or...?
The battery really needs to be replace.
Thank you!
My pleasure and thank you for taking the time to post this great feedback
Great video 👍🏻 Now I gotta go find a turkey baster😂
Lol 😂, yes that would be great to find a Turkey 🦃

I guess it does work if someone is in a tight spot and doesnt wanna spend the money that same day😅
Iv never heard of putting water in a battery. Is this really a thing
Yeah distilled water is needed if your battery water level is low. This affects lead acid batteries not agm or lithium batteries etc…
