The cost is the issue sadly. I've been a lifelong PC gamer, but am looking toward a PS5, at least for my AAA gaming. My PC is 5 years old, and starting to show its age with even 1440 60 gaming, let alone 4K gaming. When I'm seeing a last gen 1440 or 4K GPU for over $1000 AUD, or current gen for at least $1500 AUD, assuming I could even get one, and knowing I could get a PS5, charging dock, and a couple of used games for under $1000 , it makes it harder to stick with a PC, at least for AAA games.
I have to say, I've been on consoles for over 35 years and only recently discovered the world of pc games I so much heard about and always dismissed. I wish I discovered this sooner.
Pc has an endless variety of titles and genres. Pricewise, yes you need to spend some money for a good rig that will last several years (I got myself a used pc with a GTX 980 Ti and have to admit it performs really well for the £ 250.00 I paid).
Overall I would have saved so much money if I had a pc from 10 years ago and I would have played games unheard of on console.
My RTX2080, 32GB, 9600K system still runs ultra in 2023, no sweat. But I also own a PS5 and Series X. It’s great to have all systems which I can choose between. I have red dead 2 on Xbox and completed it, now I have red dead 2 on PC which is night and day difference. But i will not stop playing consoles!. It’s just nice to have all systems and not be a fanboy which is better. Because it doesn’t matter!!!.
i was thinking about getting ps5... but realized my 1050ti computer with a really really stuttery amd athlon cpu wasnt working well anymore, so i knew i finally needed an upgrade. Going from 1050ti 8gram(i think ddr4) to 3060ti with ryzen 7600x and ddr5 16 ram. Even thinking of upgrading my graphics card in the future but for now it gives me everything i need on a 1080p.

I'm a pc gamer but the worth Vs cost is diminishing rapidly. The GPUs are costing way too much to get the advantage over consoles.
Totally agree! My PC was high end 4 years ago. Now I needed to upgrade to run the latest AAA games at high settings. Upgrade cost: 1600 USD. Just got and Xbox X for 450 USD on Black Friday and never looked back assured that it will handle everything for the next 7 years or more.
@@ketle369 I have a i7-9700k and 1080Ti. I was waiting post covid to buy a new gpu. It's still does 2k high/ultra settings for most games. With a series x I get 60fps or 30 FPS ray tracing and optimised games. To get Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk with ray tracing at 60fps I would need a 4090Ti and maybe a new processor? The cost of having both high frames and ray tracing together is £2000+ Vs buying a playstation 5, Series X, Steam Deck and a Gamepass subscription and having change. PC gaming is going to need to figure out some things before people give up on it.
I looked a lot into this and went months thinking back and forth to upgrade or just get a console. I ended up getting a console after seeing the pricing of the RTX40 series after covid ended. People think I'm exaggerating, but to get a PC thats slightly better than PS5/Xbox X the price in North Europe is around 2000 USD without the cost of a monitor and KB.
But i mean the Performance of the ps5 snd Xbox series x can be compared to a RX 6600 and you can actually build a PC under 700€ so in my opinion a gaming PC is worth more
@@Dennis_N. I get what you're saying but you need to buy a separate monitor, keyboard and mouse. It's not easy to transport around and it likely runs louder and the games are optimised for consoles and not pcs. I've been gaming on pc since Voodoo graphics 2 on mech warrior (the GPU used to make a clicking sound when it kicked in). PC gaming needs to improve or get cheaper now going forward.
I’ve honestly gotten so tired of all the troubleshooting and micromanaging that comes with PC gaming that I’ve gone right back to consoles.

I have a $2000+ gaming PC and have hundreds on games on Steam, and just got a PS5, which is my first console since Sega Genesis. Don’t really notice a difference, except sometimes the controls work better. Been loving the exclusives I’ve been wanting to play for years. As others have said, if there’s a difference in quality that favors the PC, it’s small, and hard to justify a 3 or 4 times price difference. I got it specifically to try PSVR2, and so far the game catalogue is tiny, and is a good reason to hold off on it, but it seems about as good as Index, better in some ways, more comfortable. The only good reason I see to prefer PC is for mods, but I only use them for a few games. Plus trusting that once I buy a game I’ll have it forever.
PS: other PC advantage is keyboard and mouse for shooters and still having the option of using a controller when you want. Sticks are just not good for aiming. I re-bought RE4R on Steam because playing with a controller makes at least a difficulty level higher: standard with controller is like Hardcore mode KB&M and vice versa. And I got a Azeroth Cyborg keyboard…it’s awesome.
The thing is yes, on paper PC gaming is a better experience, but working 8 hours on my desk i dont want to spend my free time on that same stupid spot untill i go to sleep. I tried so many different controllers on PC and they ALL suck big time in most games no matter how much fine tuning you do ( ive spent easily 7 hours just trying different settings to get a smooth experience) , as soon as you get a decent setting for lets say a shooters game you have to completly change shit again if you switch to another game. Bullshit, i switched to PS5 even tho i have a strong gaming pc wich can handle everything at max 4k. I dont give a fuck about those extra graphics, i want a decent system with a great controller that actually works on ALL games, not just a hand full with much luck, so consoles are the clear winner.

I think the issue is PC upgrades more frequently than a console and it's a lot more expressive to have the top tier of a PC so for me to have a console that is maximized to preform a certain way without me tinkering is better for me at the price of a console and the speed at which new consoles come out.
Well think of it as like this if you build a decent pc you don't have to upgrade like that 4-6 years is good

For me consoles like Xbox or Playstation will be always better than PC. For PC you need like 2000$ for a mid gaming experience and consoles only 500-600€.. also for pc there are always some errors or viruses that you have to watch out constantly and even paying 30$ just fir a virus security that sucks tbh. So consoles always 🔛🔝
you get good gaming pc that crushes 1080p or 1440p on ultra for like 1300 bucks. ps5 is like 580. considering game prices difference is really irelevant (you can get pc games day 1 for like 40 bucks). Also you have to consider fact that you always own pc or notebook besides console for work, everyday stuff etc. btw windows defender for security is just fine in most cases unless you visit darkweb lol
@@pritok6 im looking on amazon im seeing pcs that are 799-850 bucks that kill in 1080p and most have a 3060 gpu and a 3700x cpu which this combo is like 35 percent better performance then a ps5.
I used to be a big console guy. Until a few weeks ago I got a gaming pc rtx 3050 and i5 plays bo3 custom zombies great. So many things pc can do that console can’t. That gives pc a huge advantage for me. Especially rtx with Minecraft is great too can’t be done on console either. Pc just has so many advantages compared to console!

I have a PS5 and a 7900xt PC. Console speaks to my inner child more and I play there 90% of the time.
PC is more a long term investment for family use, older games and any games I want that are only 30fps on console.
Both are tied to my LG C1 OLED *chef’s kiss*
I like playing story heavy games on my 55 inch TV rather than my 27 inch monitorm That's the issue for me. TV setup seems hard to do.

Here is the difference between PC and Console.
Back in the 90's there was the N64, the games were made on the SGI Workstation. The workstations cost like tons of money, but they were the superior machine, but then when the consumers bought the system, it wasn't the SGI workstation, it was the N64, the lesser powerful system.
So its like people playing on the SGI workstations and being like "yo this is better than console", well of course it is, you have a machine that cost $100,000 vs a machine that cost $199.
But the reason why I like consoles, its not because something looks better on PC or runs better on PC, but the actual console experience that you get from hooking up the system to your TV and playing some games.
I mean you can get a pc for the same price as the consoles and get better performance on the pc.

yeah 2500€ for a 4090 in my country, 6800xt 750€ but always sold out and other 6800xt costs 999€ :D, 3080ti 1300€ these prices just for GPU are fucking crazy and not worth it. I still have a 2070 super and i hope it'll still last for a while because i'm not paying these new prices
Same here. Got a RTX 2060 and upgrading GPU to RTX3070 also means upgrading CPU/Motherboard and RAM. Cost: 1600 USD. Bought a Xbox X for 450 on Black Friday. It’s the only sensible thing to do if you’re a casual gamer.
Yea I feel ya! Am still using my 1070 but I'd like to get a newer card but if I can get a good deal on the 3060ti I'll buy one... But my eyes ARE set on a PS5.. nothing better than playing on a 65" 4k OLED screen on your sofa... However I'm grateful for my Current Pc and old PS4 Slim line.
My RTX2080 still runs everything ultra in 2023. With 32GB ram and a 9600k.
The only thing that I enjoy more in console is the controller in single player games. My god it feels way better than a keyboard.
You can use controller on PC, whichever brand you want to. Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Logitech etc...
Console:
Better games.
Better graphics.
Better online.
Local multiplayer.
Cheaper.

the same exact thing happened to me last month, I was checking deals on amazon got an asus tuf with a 1650 TI, (not the best), but after playing games in it with 32 gb of ram i won't back to consoles, ever again (over 100fps - low settings) , play station is a waste of money in my biased opinion, games over 69 bucks, controls over 70 ,and in pc there are free games... you do the math...... pretty awesome vid
It's very hard to go back to console after PC. I got my first "real" PC last year with an RTX3080 and the difference is night and day.

If your buget it limited to around the price of a console and you don't mind / like using a gamepad then a console is probably a better choice. If your buget is any more or less than a console or you need a desktop pc anyway then pc is almost certanly a better choice, outside of you really wanting to play some specific exclusives right now.
been a console gamer since 1980 I will all ways be a console gamer the only pc I use now is a lap top the only pc games I play are Dota 2 and world of tanks

You don’t need a $900-$1800 tv to run 120, you can do that through a $200 monitor with a console just like on Pc for way cheaper though. Also buying a $900 tv for a console is not the same as getting a $2k pc because that Pc needs a $900 display to run that sane 4K 120+ that the tv will run but those tvs are like $700 now. Lastly most console games run at 60fps eith in 4K or 1440p so I don’t know what you’re talking about there and most competitive games are 120 or unlocked frame rate

Console vs PC? They’re not the same devices. If you want to spend thousands every other year for a PC then go right ahead. If you want to play games that’s optimized for console, and more PC games are coming to consoles, then get a console. U have to build a PC that’s support ray tracing 4k 60fps n also 120FPS 1440hz checkerboard with super fast loading n it will support every AAA releasing n those r soon to be released for next 5 years.

He never really gave a good reason why Pc is better, he just kept bringing up old things in the past. Options isn’t a good answer because a lot of people would rather have things more simple so quality and performance/ performance ray tracing option on console is better for a lot. It’s all preference based, nothing in this video was factual
The only reason im tired of pc is the fact that i have a 5800x and a 3080 and youd think the games would run better than console... But console is optimized better

As a gamer of an HP Omen 40L, an Xbox Seires X, a Wii, Nintendo Switch and an NES and Super NES Classic, I’ve had the most enjoyment on Nintendo Switch 😂
But, if I had to keep one, I would keep my PC, because of all the games it can handle in such high graphics at such high speeds!

PC better in every way and then some. I see comments saying "I had a pc and sold it because of......". These people never had a PC. Trust me ask them what specific parts they had and you won't get a clear answer
most of them had some basic pc, or some low end last gen pc we in 2023 and they got low end pre-built gaming pc from 2018. These guys are on rtx1060 gpus.
I have to say that PC can do more things. Now it can not only play xbox games, play xbox game pass on it, but also play some PlayStation exclusive games, and even play games that the console can't play, such as csgo, Valorant, League of Legends. The biggest advantages are the compatibility of old games, better picture quality, and higher frame rate. PC is more expensive than console, but the huge game library is worth the price.
Pc will always be better than console for one very crucial reason: freedom!
For me I want 4K @ 120fps and finally got it with my 4090 FE with my 65" C1 OLED 4K TV.
Emphases on the "options" part, that's what PC is ALL ABOUT, sure it can look prettier and run smoother but I'd take a PC that's way less powerful than any console any day, because, options. Mods, free online, kbm as well as controller or any other input, multiple monitors, in-game settings that you mentioned, I can make a beautiful game look like crap if I want to just for the lols, open platform, cheaper games, more games, back a decade ago consoles were plug&play and PCs weren't as polished as today so consoles had an upper hand in that sense, but today? Consoles are just like PCs in a lot of ways, but without all of the benefits. The choice has never been clearer.
With the current price wars on " dose my coat smell of leather" I think if you're on a budget then a PS5 for £500 is your better choice with regards to price.
I'd say it also depends on country. There are many countries where PC parts are significantly more expensive than consoles.

@AM PM after looking into a budget carsa that can cope with most games in 2023 I think I'll go for the XT 6800 over the 3060 seems like a good option for me as the XT6800 are going from around £300 which is not bad to be honest. However, I'm keeping my options open
Depends on what you refer to as "gaming" and both have pros and cons. I prefer consoles because they're much more simpler to use. You don't have to worry about upgrades or crashes. and of course the exclusives.

The multiplayer side of things was why I sold my console, that's very annoying.
With PC's the possibilities, countless configurations, tweaks, mods, settings, hardware, software far outweigh what consoles offer...BUT one major factor that matters a lot to all is...COSTS. PC Gaming at one time was within the reach of many but the insane costs of GPU's has made it impossible for many. It's pathetic when a GPU can cost 2-3 times more than a console alone. You can buy a Console for $500 and it lasts you 5-6yrs...Buy a PC and you'll need upgrades 2-3yrs later to keep up with demands of newer games that costs more $$$ than a console....
PC is better but console has pre compiled shaders. Less stuttering and better frametimes. For example look at the UE5 matrix demo. Asset streaming is better on a console. PC needs direct storage which it doesn't have yet in games.
PS5 will have the advantage to asset streaming and optimizations. There are no bottlenecks.
My 3060ti is ok but I prefer the PS5 or Xbox S/X.
Consoles do not have better frame times and stuttering. You can just play with more modest settings if u want that. Pc puts that into ur hands which does require a more hands on approach by the user.
And what do you mean by "direct storage"?
What makes u think ps5 has no bottlenecks? All systems have bottlenecks. Good selection of products helps reduce bottlenecks but they will always be present.

@isaiah1927 I looked up direct storage. Yes consoles do have direct storage. However they still don't have better frame times. And frame times are like the bronze medal of the performance Olympics.
Regardless consoles are not less stuttery. That really has more to do with your hardware vs the settings you choose to play at. The reduced stuttering is probably more to do with frame caps honestly. Keeping realistic framerates like 30fps or 60fps will keep frametimes consistent and reduce stuttering.
@@vespaman101 check out digital foundry. I play many videogames and I can clearly see when a game stutters. Unreal Engine 4 titles have a stutter issue when loading an asset for the first time on PC.
Literally consoles don't have this issue for the most part when it comes to UE4.
Ghostwire Tokyo stutters on PC no matter how good your PC is the game doesn't on PS5.
Same thing with stray that runs on UE54.

It doesn't matter how expensive your PC is. It matters if the game is optimized. Forza 5 makes you wait and compile the shaders.
@isaiah1927 I'm subscribed to digital foundry. How often are u loading assets for the first time? Ur talking about a mere glimpse and moment in time under specific circumstances. And ghostwire honestly isn't all that popular. The grand majority of pc games run pretty much flawlessly with some exceptions. U can find instances of stuttering but the general experience is very smooth.
in the last couple weeks i ran half life 2 on my office pc on 4k monitor (was the only game that ran without crashing) and compared the picture quality to my series x... and i was blown away that every series x game that benefit from the power looked worse in terms of sharpness tesselation and so on... i was shocked... some came close but witcher 3 for example looked like shiat...
that was the time i decided to go back to pc gaming and building

Been playing on pc for 2-3 months, at that time, ps5 was $1000 in some cases, I thought why not buy a pc, then thought build (great learning experience)one, so I did , there is NO comparison. I can do xbox, ps stuff, it's cheaper buying games, my pc build is like just under $1000(when gpu's come down little bit more, and they will) I acually like sitting in a gaming pc chair and playing on a keyboard, I am definitely team PC.
well I feel like in work playing in computer chair, thank god it's not a problem to run games from couch on tv lol But I have been playing on pc since I was 4 years old I am 33 now
I love pc gaming, the problem is the games are either very complicated like strategy games etc or either very repetitive and one dimensional like shooting games. There are no games like God of war or spiderman or ufc, which has both entertainment value and fun value. Also pc games are cheap but for someone who is not taking games seriously and want to play for fun and time pass, it's annoying to play with other people who are very competitive and instantly kill you. Pc games are fun but pc games need games like God of War that provide entertainment and consumer satisfaction. I am thinking of having a simple pc that can run games like dota and buy a console instead.

Not to mention the fact, that on the strong PC I can play both "Elden Ring" from this year, and "Dune" from 2000, which makes this platform having the most games to play on forever.

i got 13900k 3090ti 1200w ddr5 32gn 6000mhz 4tb ssd for 6000usd and i still feel ps5 & series x are better for me? mmm im new to pc i grow with consoles sooo im used to controller i just series x controller on pc still encountering bugs and games that freezes or dont work on steam..
I would say:
Single Player Games: PC, because mods, FOV sliders and such.
Multiplayer: Consoles, little to zero cheaters = i guess it justifies the monthly subscription + more player based than PC.
Unless if it’s cross play with PC, then go with PC because you don’t pay for Online Multiplayer.
