Manar A. Have you watched Concert For George? (Most likely you have). As great as this particular track is, when all those stellar musicians got together in honor of George and performed this song, it was so good that the tears indeed fell. Still do when I hear it.
Manar A. you spoke out my heart...very few songs make me cry this is right up there...bless u beatles....i wish i was lucky enough to listen them live :'(
His guitar is crying/weeping because the life we live, stops us from paying a guitar and being in the moment with music, love and god. I love you George. What an amazing soul you are and always will be. The depth in your lyrics inspires me.
it's so refreshing to hear someone who has a better taste in music than everyone else their age. while most kids just want to fit it, it's obvious that you are better than "most kids." you are truly an inspiration to other people who believe they are better than everyone because of their musical preference. it would be nice to see more kids your age also listen to true classic rock, as this would obviously make them better than everyone.
Once when I was really little I walked in on my father listening to this song and he was crying. When I asked him what was wrong he said that someone has to be so incredibly sad to have to write a song like this, that this man felt so sad he had to express his pain by saying that his guitar was weeping. Now every time I listen to this song I cry
I was listening to a bunch of my favorite Beatles songs and stumbled upon this song in the process. Knew right away it was Clapton's guitar.. George is amazing but I knew this was Clapton, he just has so much soul in his fingers. Cant stop listing to this.
I'm 14yrs old and the Beatles is the only music I enjoy, my friend introduced me to this.... Art and I've been in love with the Beatles and their "time period" ever since
i'll always love em. listened to em my whole life. my dad would play his collection of albums and 45's on our console stereo made of wood. i started listening on my own around twelve. im 37. you can callit goog old music, but this stuff is timeless. peace.
her songs will never come close to the amount of times the beatles songs have been heard and will be heard. She was a twinkle in the universe of music while the beatles are an arm of the galaxy.
Many people don't know this but this song is actually about George Harrison contracting gonorrhea during their trip to India. Little tidbit for the day
Really? That's pretty cool if it's true. I always thought this song had a sickening thing about it. Not in a way that it's bad but sickening like being on a crazy roller coaster.
You sang this on the stage in grade school with your guitar because you are fabulous! You died and I listen to this song and I cry out for you Brye! My special one
And the guitar that's weeping is Eric Clapton's Strat.... just so you know... And then he ran off with George's wife after writing Layla for her... the bastard
Erulin68 Well George was, according to Macca, the most sexually active beatle... besides John. And he slept with Ringo's wife. So I mean I don't really blame her too much tbh
Just an FYI, the statements about copyright are completely incorrect. Non profit and crediting the songs does not give permission to use songs. Making money on something or not does not effect what constitutes infringement. And "Fair Use" is more of a legal defense, not a grant of permission. (Meaning if you get sued, you can try to cite "Fair Use" as your defense) Also, there is nothing about uploading lyric videos of songs that would fall under fair use. That being said, luckily TH-cam now has the ad supported deal and most songs are now ok to use for the most part. (TH-cam will put ads and the copyright holders will collect the money from those ads) I just wanted to clear up the copyright misinformation in the description of this video.
Ikr you had the Beatles and Zeppelin and all these super good bands and now you hear nothing but people saying words in a mic with a beat in the background.
A bit harder version of this song was performed by "Jeff Healy" in the early 90's it probably is the best version of this song guitar wise especially since he was born totally blind, R>I>P Mr healy , and Mr Harrison, your music will never be forgotten.
TODAS LAS CANCIONES DE ESTE FABULOSO GRUPO QUE JAMAS MORIRA,HAN MARCADO NUESTRAS VIDAS DE MANERA DEFINITIVA...SIEMPRE LOS DISFRUTAREMOS: LARGA VIDA A LOS BEATLES!
Love this song, and has many meanings I suppose, but I see the plea for humanity to wake-up to its loving nature. One look at the violent world around us would cause anyone or a guitar to weep. Thanks George, and stick figure for posting.
I am a straight up Beatles rockn'roll fan. You know fast music, with a great bass line, and rocking drums. This song however has caught my ears and has become my second favorite, next to "In my life".
I think you meant to say "The Beatles is such an awesome group." Because they remain a band to people, and still have such an influence and impact on people's lives because of them
I hate how a lot of my generation have no idea what The Beatles are. They were music legends and everyone out there should know how brilliantly talented they were. I'm almost 16 and I only listen to old music.
Eric Clapton was always reading from the same script when it came to Beatle "guesting" and was a great friend of George Harrison. Harry Neilson was great mates too with John Lennon. These were the guys who could jam with the boys of the Fab Four and still maintain their own rite. Obviously, Clapton is a legend and Neilson, despite a short life, is still very much alive in the music he left behind, and was another very bright star ("Without You" being Neilson's most memorable hit). Even avid Beatles fans like me didn't know at first (in the late 60's when the White Album came out) that it was Eric doing the lead solo in this track. It was so hard to spot at first because Clapton "blended" in so well and produced one of the most memorable lead guitar solo's ever! At that time, we (avid Beatle fans), thought that only The Beatles could produce such contemporary brilliance. We went on to learn that these (special) "guests" could indeed enhance certain tracks of the Beatles music and did so. What an accolade! Billy Preston is another legendary "special guest", especially notable for his keyboard solo on "Get Back". This song - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", has got to be amongst the top favourite tracks of all time. It's certainly one of my own top favourite tracks - but as all avid Beatles fans know, the Beatles make us shuffle our top Fab Four tunes because we can never settle on which is the actual greatest - it can change in the listening and with new appreciations to be found all the time! Such was and still is, the great effect of The Beatles and their most brilliant compositions.
God, I live this song. It's so beautiful. That's Clapton playing lead guitar though he was uncredited in the album notes. After several recordings, Harrison wasn't happy with his own lead performance so he asked Clapton to come into the studio and record the lead. Clapton didn't want to do it but George convinced him and the result was nothing short of brilliant.
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping While my guitar gently weeps I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping Still my guitar gently weeps I don't know why nobody told you How to unfold your love I don't know how someone controlled you They bought and sold you I look at the world and I notice it's turning While my guitar gently weeps With every mistake we must surely be learning Still my guitar gently weeps Well... I don't know how you were diverted You were perverted too I don't know how you were inverted No one alerted you I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping While my guitar gently weeps Look at you all Still my guitar gently weeps Oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, oh Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh, ooh
Honestly people, when it comes to taste in music, it's what you were raised around. I was raised around parents that listened to ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Ac/DC, The Beatles, etc..... So, now that I'm 20, it's the music I listen to. all of my friends also listen to the same types of music. If you were raised around it, you like it. If you were raised around rap and hip-hop, then that's what you'll like the most probably. Why can't people just leave others alone about their musical tastes?
I heard my first Beatles when I was nine. It was Oh-Bla-Di, Oh-Bla-Da. I now own all their albums and have memorized where each song comes on each track.
lol i created an account just to comment!! anyway I'm 21 and I love this kind of music! I only listen to stuff with taste like Aerosmith The Rolling Stones and this, respect the classics man! they will be around longer than you and me.
George was so underrated and I hate that. He had so much talent, and not many people recognized it. Now they realize he was amazing, but now he's dead and didn't get his chance. RIP George. I love ye
One does not simply pick a favorite Beatles song
We can work it out.

His guitar is crying/weeping because the life we live, stops us from paying a guitar and being in the moment with music, love and god. I love you George. What an amazing soul you are and always will be. The depth in your lyrics inspires me.
I love the line "I don't know why nobody told you ....how to unfold your love"

when you notice the floor needs sweeping, you write a song about it.
All generations could enjoy the Beatles if you give it a chance. Their music is ageless.
No comment can reflect the awesomeness of this song.

What makes the Beatles group so great is that each of them were inspired by the others to create the next masterpiece.

Beautiful and heart song from The Beatles (?) signature, but the feeling of George Harison. Doesn't matter at all, it's a beautiful song, forever.
I was listening to a bunch of my favorite Beatles songs and stumbled upon this song in the process. Knew right away it was Clapton's guitar.. George is amazing but I knew this was Clapton, he just has so much soul in his fingers. Cant stop listing to this.
In case you didn't already know, that's Eric Clapton on lead guitar.

I have learned to bring my dreams to reality. Thank you: John, Paul, George, & Ringo.
Eric is WOW on this!
How could you not love this song and of course, the Beatles?
the beatles were so good, i used to listen to them when i was a mere boy in the 60s, and still do.
i don't know if they would have lost millions, when a musician dies abruptly it immortalizes them forever and their record sales skyrocket.
It always makes me weep,so very soulful song,Love you George Harrison, for all your beautiful songs
Can't get enough of this song - love it! Such amazing lyrics

Thank you for posting this. This is clearly one George Harrison's best songs....
Love this song, and has many meanings I suppose, but I see the plea for humanity to wake-up to its loving nature. One look at the violent world around us would cause anyone or a guitar to weep. Thanks George, and stick figure for posting.

The best song of The Beatles. Masterpiece
Eric Clapton's guitar is what really brings this song to life.

The jizzy solo sweeps me down , Beatles forever !!

This song is so haunting. I'm in love with it. RIP George Harrison. You left us too soon.
JLennon tells us a story with his lyrics...I'm completely mesmerized!
Such a beautiful sound, yet such sad lyrics. Still seems as true today as it did back then
Ohhhhh beautiful - think I was 14 when this came out and right it's a bit errrm soppy but still gotta love it! My sweet George!

Thanks for putting the lyrics up for us. I enjoyed singing along.
I love the drum rhythm. Being a drummer myself, well executed boys.
George is my favorite Beatle! What a great song!
You mentioned the 3 Beatles who didn't compose this song and left out the one who did, good job!
Awsome post Buddy! thank you so much for that! OMG! ...the memories!...Good Job!
