Awesome vid cuh. Vlogging and putting yourself out there is all about getting out of your comfort zone. You inspire the boys every day, keep cooking dawg.
I've been following you for a bit but I absolutely love this concept. I've always wanted to create youtube videos consistently and simply just post because I always feel the need to edit and create this amazing content...but that never made me happy. I'm always more happy just creating something and putting it out. I will keep that mindset of "casual vlogging" in mind this next year :) thanks for sharing jason!
I followed your journey with my other account and now that I am officially in the "American version of this platform" I can say that you inspired me to make a video. In one of your previous ones you explain why is important to document your life, and I have done that for 10 years, so I wanted to give a testimony to that. It's such a powerful thing that a lot of people undervalue!
I am struggling to pull out my next video and I am currently struggling to make it without bothering the people I hang out with so I am literally filming nothing until I figure out how to make it okay for everyone. I'm glad your video came out, very informative and helpful
if people don’t want to be part of your video that’s cool just don’t film those moments but i’m sure some of your friends would love to be in your work
Really gets me thinking... the part about "what i was up to in college" and looking back in general. I keep 'skipping' the mudane things, because I forgot that thing
@JasonZhao Really? For me it's random moments in life but school wise I can remember mostly what I was stressing about 😂 It's the mudane days nowadays that I be forgetting
I'm a new follower since today. I like the way you work and express yourself. It's truely great! I alway wanted to make videos and wanted to upload them on youtube. But I was not sure who and even what to film. Now I can say I have a plan and will be creating my own stuff. The idea of filming and documenting my 20s is brilliant. I wish you all the best for the future and see you soon!! Best regards Bruno
Hi Jason, I’m a big fan of yours, and you’re my English teacher! You never knew it, haha. I really enjoyed your video. Your voice is so calm and peaceful when I hear it. Thanks!
When i’m alone, I can take my time and setup shots, look for cool angles, try transitions i’ve seen others make the problem is as a husband and father i’m rarely alone… that’s when it becomes intrusive because I can’t stop 5 other people just to setup a shot. Today for example me and my wife went to the mall to do some shopping. I had an idea for a video before even getting to the mall but the issue is having to stop being with her to get the shots or a-roll I needed so that video will have to be done whenever I get to the mall by myself
love your content! i recently startet vlogging too and i'm still kinda struggling tbh - thinking "no, that's not worth filming, nobody will care about it" 😅 but i keep practicing haha - we really need a video on how you colorgrade that iphone footage 😍
I have the most recent GoPro and I'm amazed about the little thing. You can do so much with it, even with your smartphones, I'm trying to take it everywhere outdoor and film myself randomly at home talking. Just to have some clips and those things can turn out great. Expensive gear isn't per se necesseray, Skills in editting and filming are the big key.
yea i’ve gone through the cycle of making stuff for views/ money and it just sucks the life out of creating. gotta do it in a way that’s mentally sustainable for you
I need to try using my phone more. I've always dismissed it because I have such an old phone I feel like the quality will just be shocking. But that's not what matters. I can catch all the little moments - the casual magic. You're so right, people will feel so much less conspicuous if you film on your phone and not using a camera, even if it's a small one like mine. I often try use my canon G7X mark ii, but it's often just not convenient. I'm now motivated to try use my ancient Pixel 4a and hope for the best haha 😅 thanks man, great video!
Pretty new to filming and vlogging and I know scripting and planning your shots is pretty big thing, but I was curious how much “run and gun” and improvising ends up happening (at least from your experience)
I started filming on a portable webcam back in the day. Then point and shoot. So I always get the itch to use a most recent point and shoot. But I noticed I gravitate most to my phone because I like to use Snapchat. Snap let’s me share the moment in real time with friends and have funny convos about whatever it was. I started snapping horizontally so when I put the clips together at the end of the month it’s horizontal 😂 Garfield
i have about 100 gigs free on my phone, just dump it to an ssd or computer after each shoot. my clips are usually like 10 seconds long, 2 min max for talking

🥺🥺
100% agree. I know the quality is better with an actual camera but the convenience and "stealthiness" of the iPhone is so useful. I use mine daily.

Love the content man and I’m learning a lot from you!
I wouldn't have guessed you were shooting on an iPhone. Your colour grading is amazing
Your videos are very entertaining, and I love the aesthetic! Did you shoot in log or just regular? I'd love to know the setting you used :)
log!
@@JasonZhao Nice, thanks!
Your endeavor has paid off.
Super helpful video! In the process figuring out sustainable ways to upload more often, lots of little gems here

a video is a video and if the moments captured then that’s the best you can do!

Do you film with the default camera app ?
Do you keep a ssd with you to film in log ? What you setup because log footage is so large
i have about 100 gigs free on my phone, just dump it to an ssd or computer after each shoot. my clips are usually like 10 seconds long, 2 min max for talking
