- In a follow-up to a Speakers Corner story about a GTA appliance repair business facing multiple accusations of unfair business practices, calls increase for the government to step in.
In most cases, the repairs and labour costs are almost as much as buying a new appliance. Just buy a new one and save yourself a headache.
Not true. Mr appliance in Edmonton used to repair appliances for cheap. Saved property owners thousands in replacement. They were running for years until Ontario shut them down claiming they had been using their name. The same company that just opened up a major appliance chain.
There is corruption behind this where someone higher up just kicked the little guy and took his "lunch money".
@ ok so the point is, that business is now shut down. Unfortunate but yeah, I still think it’s best to buy a new appliance than go to a repair man.
@@FedUpwitU Your story makes no logical sense and is probably a lie.
@@purple7vi0let This is true, the previous owner put in a LG dishwasher, broke as soon as warranty expired, tech came out, diagnosed issue and the part was $300 and out of stock, no indication when it would come in but still wanted $125 for service call.
Yeah, more government involvement is always the answer at City"News". How about checking online reviews, asking friends and family and going that route?
So much license and certification here and there. Nothing gets done in Canada without a big price.
I had an appliance repaired under warranty in Toronto. The man they sent stunk so bad my throat hurt for two days. Use TH-cam you can probably fix it yourself.😁
@@greggreg2263 you should’ve told him 🤣
The person wants other to get certified so that the supply of servicemen will go down and the prices will go up. In other words it hinders competition.
Uh, ok. No certification, anyone can say "Hey, I'm Jim. I repair stuff. You got stuff to repair?" See how simple that was. But if you introduce certification, it'll be like "Hey, I'm Jim. I repair stuff. You got stuff to repair? Oh, you want to see my certification card? Hold on, I left my boat parked upside down, I'll be back." and the consumer is like "Where's that guy Jim, it's been 4 hours?" The end.
With all the certification, appliance repair will get more expensive. When useless government can tax repair-work more efficiently, this also drives up the cost. Government needs to stop interfering.
They aren't...hence why this happens. You don't sound like you did well in school.
@velmano9191 All the Giuseppe Pasqueezi people love colluding with government. Waste management, unions, construction contracts and now appliance repair.
Repairmen have priced themselves out of business congrats
