Great work, it's good to see a step by step video before i do my car. It takes patience a safe work environment and the right tools, jack stands etc. Be careful jacking those old cars from under the trunk, behind the wheel like that, honestly it should only be supported from the frame near the 4 factory jacking points. They rot out behind the wheel wells, saw one the was welded together under the seat, rear clip from a flood or something; you never know. It's not worth the risk or collapse and it actually will give you more room in most cases.
It's supported in the heavy duty spot. Right behind the sway bar where the metal is very strong. Not by the trunk pocket behind the wheel. I am not an idiot. Been working on cars for years
@@VITOSGARAGE could not really see in the video, it's very dangerous as you know. That would be a good video to make, some people don't know can maybe save a life

@@VITOSGARAGE Sorry, I saw that you showed the box later on in the video. I have a particular differential and, although it has the same code (0039978347), the dimensions are different (45 - 85.3 - 10/18.5). Only Elring is making it (467.995).
hey! great stuff, did you have to do anything to the rear shock absorbers to fit the axles into the hub? i heard that its a little difficult to get them inside the hub.. th-cam.com/video/zXRHV9AuhEQ/w-d-xo.html i'm asking cause i dont wanna start the job and end up being stuck since my 240D is my daily driver lol

The remarkable thing is that he does this all with one hand while holding the camera in the other.

You shouldn’t have to. I did disconnect the sway bar links which made it a lot easier to get the axle in/out. And use a jack to lift up the diff.
