I am so frustrated with my spins these days, they travel sooo much and make like a cocoon drawing on the ice. I think I need to go back and start with practicing the pivots again.
I've been really struggling with my spins... And this is a dumb question but when you spin on what part of the blade should you spin? Cause im used to hockey skates and when i try and spin im never spinning on my toe pic always mostly at the back or middle of my skates any tips please?
Try this. Bend your knees and start the spin by doing a swizzle with your right foot. Then stand up straight for the spin, then bend your knees foe the graceful exit. Surprisingly that instruction got me going the graceful exit easily on the first try, and I had never come close to doing it before.
Another tip: Keep the knees bent the entire spin. This helps keep you off the toe pick. Once you are good you will want to stand up straight legged but bent knees helps when you are learning.
Im trying to learn how to exit a 2 foot spin like that pretty beginning one. Do you have any videos that explain that aspect? Thanks! So far it seems like I need to take the foot going forward, do the tiniest FI 3 turn, swing out my other leg out, and exit on an outside edge.
@@ilovefictionalcharacters8174 I fixed it by mastering a one foot spin and then suddenly being able to do a two foot spin 😂 I think it had to do with knowing how much weight needed to be on the other foot (not a lot)
I am an adult learner and I have done everything the video says but for some reason I only go around 1 and a 1/2 times. I am confused where my the presure should be on my skates. Should both feet be pressing down forward in the skate or one foot forward and the other back. When I watch others it is like they are slightly lifting the skate at back on one foot and at the front on the other. On these videos it looks like the blades are both staying on the ice. I am confused. Please help me spin. Thanks everyone :)
Hello Coach Mary, thank you for the tutorial. I understand that we are supposed to spin on the ball of the skate, but I can't really keep my weight there for long and I'll eventually lean forward and stop because of the toe pick. Do you have any suggestions for that?
I recommend practicing 1 and 2 foot glides and focus on staying on the ball of your foot. Also make sure your shoulders are even and keep your core tight when spinning. Good luck!
Hi im new at figure skating and for some reason i physically cant pull in or flex my core while spinning.. my spins last for half a circle just because i push off but i cant find the right place to hold my hands and how to keep my stomach pulled in while spinning or holding my balance.. any tips ?
I recommend balance exercises off ice! Doing one foot balances on the floor, balance disc, bosu ball, or holding onto a chair, etc will help. Also off-ice to strengthen the core.
I do maybe one or two turns and then stop, I’m staying on the ball of my feet and they are close together. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, any tips?
hii! i’m just finishing my one foot spin and i’m now learning my scratch spin, i’m really annoyed because my i usually spin for like 1-2 turns and then my blade just slides up to my toe pick any idea on how to prevent this ? ❤️
you may be leaning at the waist. try to keep your core tight! i also thinking of pressing down on the ball of my foot. make sure you are spinning on a back inside edge.
A dump question: at the beginning of the video, it says "tips in the description box below", but didn't seem to see "tips", am I understanding something wrong? (Just a lazy student trying to see if there's already nice notes created already, hahaha).

It's crazy how just standing up straight makes some of these work so much better!

i wanted to let you know when your doing a spin you have to bring your foot in front
