It was toward the end of the season. I was just a regular college student from a different college wanting to go to Notre Dame game. The next morning after the game in which Notre Dame won, I was in the cafeteria student cafeteria having breakfast and noticed Joe Theismann. At that time he was a Heisman candidate. I was a big fan of his ability to win games, and also looking for an opportunity to collect a memorable object, noticing that Joe Theismann had eaten some chicken, and only the bones were on his plate, I quickly went to the table after he was gone and gathered up the chicken bones, if only he would have won the Heisman trophy. I could’ve sold those chicken bones for a lot of money. This story is true. I only put it here to show what a young fan might do . Go irish
Thank you for interviewing Joe. The last time I talked with him was in 1968, when I lived 2 doors down from him I totally agree with him about Marcus. At the time, I also thought that it was a gamble. It looks like it is paying off, even though I was in the stadium for 2 losses that I think BK would have won. I don't want to ruin Joe's story on his name, but Joe knew that the traditional German pronunciation of his last name was Thighs man, even though most people did call him Thees man, and he never objected to either pronunciation.
isnt it a bit of a coincidence that Notre dame won a national championship in 1988 the same year the commanders won a superbowl. Funny how the commanders and Notre dame are both in a position right now to win the national championship and superbowl again lol

I’m a huge fan of Notre Dame and the Redskins. I am willing to take a Redskins loss against Detroit for a Notre Dame win and a national title
His 526 passing yards against USC in 1970 still stands as the single game school record. One of the very few records that Brady Quinn didn't break.
