Not these guys. They have naturally shorter tails. No need to dock. The Icelandic sheeps tanks are only a few inches long. These crosses are still pretty short.
You are an all around woman ! I never saw a banding done before. You make it look so easy to do. How many sheep (including lambs) will you have once you sell off the ones you decide to sell ? Take care Wendi and God bless you !
😊 I do what I can. Its pretty easy and its not too hard on the lamb. I have 13 lambs (8 breeding adults) right now and I'd sure love to sell all of the lambs. If not, they will end up in the freezer. Hopefully not mine as I'm out of room! Its been tough selling the past few years. I've only sold 3 so far and feeling a tad worried 😟. ❤ Thanks for stopping by again!
I've helped at bandings before, and yep, it's about 20-30 minutes and they act like nothing's happened. It's far better to band them young like this than to wait till the boys get too big, and they need surgery. Your lambs are very cute and adorable. (Jan Griffiths).
For sure. It's kinder than surgery. I have a mini gelding that I had gelded as a 10 year old stallion. He had not the easiest time of it, but he's OK now. He could only produce colts, that's why he was gelded. He's 16 now. (Jan Griffiths).@@baldknobfarmstead5167
Oh she has plenty to go around! If they ever look like they aren't producing enough, getting thin or the lambs are struggling we either pull them or supplement.
No. It's castration, also known as neutering. The testicles will die, and fall off. No testosterone will be produced, and they will have no interest in ewes. They already have a ram, and don't want another. (Jan Griffiths).
Fast and great job!
no docking tails? ususally its done at the same time

I wish more people would be open minded to this!

Looks like them lambs shouldve been weaned on top of that you got 3 big lambs draining the ewe

After doing this procedure will they able to breed?

I really like the black ewe lamb. She's the cutest one. (Jan Griffiths).
20 minutes of having the blood cut off from your testicles must be pretty horrific still
Well I'm sure its not comfortable but they get up and back playing pretty fast like nothing happened.
They get numb after banding, and don't feel a thing. Like she said, it's takes about 20 minutes or so. (Jan Griffiths).
