Just when I start feeling like acoustic pianos don’t matter because of the fantastic reviews I see on digital instruments here … you drop of this. This is very impressive. You know how some people are said to be able to sing the phonebook and make it wonderful - well Stu could play a pump organ and make it worthy. Kudos to your whole team.
I think this is the only thorough and quality review of Bechstein A175…. I happened to meet an A175 couple of days ago, and was quite impressed. But it's so hard to find good reviews or opinions on the internet… It seems like a good piano, but why so few reviews out there..? 😢
We're glad you stumbled on our review! The C. Bechstein A175 is an absolutely stunning instrument! I think it tends to get overshadowed by the larger A190 quite a bit as the 6' mark is a very popular size category within the grand piano market. In any case, we hope that more people catch on to the amazing A175 model! :)
@@MerriamPianos Thank you for replying! I tried this model for about a couple of hours in total, and I also recognized the tonal differences in the three sections: low, middle, and high. I also like this character cause Chopin's Pleyel also seemed to have similar characteristics in terms of having different tones in the three sections.
Hi, Stu! Very nice demostration! I am wondering if you could compare C.Bechstein Academy series with Shigeru Kawai SK series since they are in similar price range? A175 is probably about SK2 A190 to SK3 .. etc Thank you! There is no C.Bechstein dealers in Taiwan, can't really try them by myself😢
Hi! Brent here! Thanks so much for the suggestion! I think those would be great pairings to explore in future videos. We have a few videos in the queue right now, but I will certainly pass along the suggestion to Stu and our production team. :)
Thanks for the suggestion! We will do our best to tackle that comparison. However, as you mentioned, they are not exactly like-to-like comparisons in the same price category. But, I do agree that it would be interesting to break down the reasons for the price disparity between different instruments. :)
Hi! Brent here! I think that is very well said. They offer very different musical profiles. I have had a number of customers choose an Academy series model over the comparably sized Concert series model because of its warmer, softer voice. It all comes down to a matter of musical preferences. :)
There are certain regional restrictions when it comes to selling/shipping certain brands. For more info, feel free to reach out to us at pianos@merriammusic.com. Thanks so much!
Hi! Brent from Merriam Music here! Thanks for tuning in! That is a really tough question, as it really comes down to the personal preferences of the player. If you're prioritizing tone, the R6 would have the edge in my opinion. But, if the responsiveness of the action is a critical concern, the A175 would offer all of the touch benefits that come along with a grand piano.
Absolutely! The Bechstein A175 would serve as a wonderful piano for a church setting. It is an incredible expressive instrument with immense musicality. :)
We will do our best to tackle that comparison for you, but we usually focus on comparable instruments within the same quality/price tier. Thanks for the suggestion! :)
@@MerriamPianos absolutely no worries! Thank u so much for even replying. I feel the Feurich I play at has the Steinwayish kind of bass and mid bass/low mids if you know what I mean. The Bechstein sound feels more like the upper Yamaha models, can’t describe the sound really but I think you get me here. I had a little tendency in the Hoffmann Vision video with the ”stiffy” bass/mids but the T sounded a bit more Bechstein’y, like the A series. Best!
Hi! Brent here! I am not exactly sure what you mean by sample pianos for free. Are you referring to VST plugins of these pianos or actual acoustic pianos?
Hi! Brent here! Thanks so much for tuning in! I am not sure what the game plan is for the next video release, but I know Stu and the production team are working hard on new content. :)
Sometimes, we shoot videos with very fresh instruments that are right out of the crate, which means that getting them in a perfect and solid tune might be a bit tricky. With that said, I think the beautiful voice of the A175 is well presented here. :)

Great sophisticated playing, as always! 😊
Thanks a million for tuning in! I will pass on your kind words to Stu about his playing! :)
Thank you guys 🙂

@@MerriamPianos Thank you! It means you have infinite materials for new vidoes, fighting :)
Have you done a comparison between the Kawai GX-2 and the C. Bechstein A175? What are the $35,000 differences?

To me the Academy series sounds like a more mellow version of the Concert series. It's a matter of taste, but both of very high quality.

Do you sell to customers in the USA? You’re actually closer than the nearest larger C.Bechstein dealer is to me here in the states.

Great review, Stu! If you could pick between a concert series upright vs academy grand, e.g. A175 vs R6, which would u go for? :)

So it would be the ideal piano for a choir like in a Church?
