      Fr can’t avoid the news in Britain about LA fires and wealthy Americans losing homes when there’s people’s houses burning down in Gaza and Ukraine, it’s vile

      Exactly worshiping billionaires, Americans and celebrities has got to stop .. they are not super heroes .. they are rich because of us .. need to focus our mind on the needy ..

    fashion brands NEED to pay these merchants at kantamanto market to help them build back their livelihoods. this is so tragic, thank you so much for highlighting this disaster and calling out fashion brands for not offering any help. honestly i feel like if something like this happened to a clothing market in western europe, i bet they would already be pledging money to the affected merchants :(

      agreed!!! we'd already have billionaires funding rebuilding & plans to improve the system in place by now 😮‍💨

    Thank you for bringing attention to Kantamanto. Love what the BFC will be doing - definitely a step in the right direction. When it comes to gifting, it's gotten out of hand and I have watched so many videos where influencers have said no more please! 19 lipsticks is absolutely insane...

      agreed, it's good the BFC are finally taking the right steps and hopefully will lead the charge of the Big 4 all adopting sustainability requirements!

    As a Spanish I’m so disappointed that the most famous brand from us now is Inditex (Zara), I don’t want to have anything to do with the precursor of fast fashion 😭😭😭😭

      honestly it's just tricking people into thinking they're getting a deal like with the ASOS bot, it's so nefarious

  • @BeeLZBeeb

    So basically every major brand seems to be implicated in dodgy dealings. I recently was going to try temu.. yes I know, I didn't go through with it.
    My reasoning though was I don't have much money and I need clothes. When I gave up on trying temu or shein, I'm left with amazon or a big online store, but it seems like they're all doing something awful.
    I'm housebound, I can't get to shops physically, can anyone suggest affordable clothing outlets online that I can get clothes from?

    • @illtellthemoonyouresecrets
      @illtellthemoonyouresecrets 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      maybe you could try online second hand spots? like thredup or depop. even ebay can work if you know how to look for what you want!

    • @mwahha6965
      @mwahha6965 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Second hand clothing is best even unused , there’s lots of sellers like myself who sell clothes new on those sites like Depop and vinted. You could also choose brands that at least try to make a difference over those who don’t try at all but can understand how off putting it is when they all sound corrupt !

    Please please please find your local dressmaker and realise that it is cheaper annually to have your clothes made for you. Made to measure (bust waist hip measurements only) is much cheaper than bespoke, I promise you. You can choose the fabric, the finish and in fine, the garment will last longer.

    These companies are terrible. They only care about their owm pockets, not the human cost. I’m hoping they will prove us wrong and do the right thing and donate.

    Them not responding on your sensitive skin argument kinda explains a little bit why it is so difficult to find make-up that's marketed for sensitive skin. It feels like they're saying: We don't care if your skin gets all itchy and/or breaks out in rashes, just buy our 💩y products!
    🙈🙈

    • @katierobinson
      @katierobinson  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      literally I got so disheartened when they stopped replying / sending me stuff because it felt like I'd done something wrong 😭 it's not like I need the products so I'd rather be off their list if they're just gonna continually ignore what I actually could use in favour of what they're trying to push 🥴

    Apparently the ABFC is only implementing their sustainably programs with upcoming brands, not necessarily more established companies. According to BoF's sustainability briedfing, "[...] Such fledgling labels typically have negligible environmental impact and next to no resources, which means the policy is likely to do more to generate buzz than drive real industry change. Plans to roll out the requirements more widely in time are very vague."

    • @katierobinson
      @katierobinson  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I think they're planning to implement it for every brand in 2026 no? could be wrong and I think there was some confusion over the press release with a couple articles having to do corrections so I'm honestly not entirely sure, definitely agree that it's not a perfect solution and maybe more to generate buzz at this point that actually have an impact but I guess it's a start 😬

    So I agree that India has child labour problem .. but you shd also think if these kids work in a farm they get money to eat that day if they don’t they starve ..
    country is not to blame because cannot manage this population
    Parents are to blame ..
    Let’s all consume less and be mindful .. tats the best we can do

    • @catherinesfakeemail727
      @catherinesfakeemail727 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The blame lies in multiple parties including the country, when you factor in the wealth gap in the country and consider the fact that keeping the poor poor is imperative to making the rich richer.

      I am from Indian origin so I know how people do .. some beg having young child on streets just to grab attention .. govt tries to put beggars into a private home for shelter but they would not go as they have to work .. they prefer begging .. I have seen all sorts of people .. India is an experience only people grew up here can understand .. I would not blame govt for these people honestly

      There's a book by Jean-Maurice Derrien (Rencontres avec des enfants travailleurs remarquables) about him and different teams across the world surveying and observing children and teenagers who work (as well as their families if any and circumstances) and the ways they can either make the work less dangerous to them or find ways for them not to work. It's very interesting, but I'm not sure whether it was translated to English or not. Some of his books are available in Turkish, though.
