    I have the Ruger American rimfire rifle in 22LR and I love just how great it fires and how the bolt action cycles as smooth as butter.👍

      Al 357, respectfully I disagree. If I have a bolt gun with a scope I always lay it on the right side to better protect the scope. I'm not an expert, but I did take a bronze at Camp Perry on High Power National Match. But, as an old dog I am happy to learn from others - including your comments as well as the others.

    I have one in .17 HMR and it's one of the nicest guns I have seen in that caliber. Got it for $302 and it's one of the Lipsey guns so it has a green stock and no sights at all with a threaded 18 inch barrel. I threw a used 3-9 scope on it and set it up to bust clay pigeons at 125 yards and will hunt foxes with it. Can't get a better deal than that!

    It's also really easy to lighten the trigger pull by just replacing the trigger return spring with a lighter weight one. Some people have just removed the trigger return spring altogether, which will also work, but I'm not crazy about that idea.

    Love mine. Unfortunately, Ruger doesn’t make a “Lefty,” but I’ve learned to adapt. I scoped mine, but the open sights work Ok. I’ve ordered a ‘peep,” or ghost ring plate that replaces the notched piece in the rear sight. Am curious to see if that helps the open sights.

    • @scotteger6271
      @scotteger6271 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be ammo related. Most rimfire optics are set to a 50 yard parallax, as that is the distance that most people shoot 22's. Not that you can't shoot them at whatever distance you want, that's just common. You could try hotter ammo, such as CCI Stingers, or even get a 20 moa rail, which will give you more adjustment for longer distance (or to make up for being low at 100 yards).

    hi The Hunting Gear Guy! nice video! I am live in Europe, I got a new Ruger American 22lr few weeks ago, I try to mount the scope to my rifle, I maxed out the vertical adjustment, and I was still hitting low at 50 meter and more worse at 100 meter,I use the Warne scope base for Ruger American Rimfire M825/825M. The dealer tell me all the Ruger 22lr rifle had that same problem, the only solution is shim the base or rear scope ring, but I am not happy with that solution. I just want to know is that a common problem for a new rifle or I got a bad rifle and bad dealer? thank you!

    The front sight is not movable. The rear sight needs a collision with a semi to drift out. Given that amount of force required, I fail to see how the aim can be adjusted only a little. Mine in a 22WMR came inaccurate - 3 inches to the right at 25 yards shooting from the bench. If you get a RAR, assume you will be mounting a red dot, scope, or replacing the sights. If the factory sighting is good enough, you lucked out. Ruger should provide Williams style fiber optic on front and back and adjustable both ways and then they have an OK gun.

I do give Ruger a thumbs up for the tang safety ( sooo... why the extra safety ?? ) A Savage Mark GXP II w/out the accutrigger is $ 108 with the rebate going on right now with a 4x Tasco scope. And that's with a genuine wood stock, and I'm a wood guy. Might as well do a camo stock if its not wood. In my opinion that stock isn't going to have many admirers. @@Thamac15 I guess it just depends on each person's individual circumstances...personally I'm with you...I'd rather have a Browning T-Bolt than a Ruger American rimfire, but there is a substantial increase in price. You can pick up a Ruger American rimfire for around $300 and the synthetic stock T-Bolt will be around $600-625. The Browning AB3 or Winchester XPR are much closer in price to the Ruger American centerfire, but even then, you can usually find a Ruger American with Vortex scope for just a little more than what the AB3/XPR cost without a scope.
      I started investing in things like the X-Bolt, Model 70, T-Bolt and other higher quality firearms, but I did buy a Winchester XPR for those times when I don't want to risk damage to one of my other guns. I came here to see how the Ruger rimfire reviewed, as I was looking for a less expensive rimfire for a gift. After the review and some of the comments, I think I'll keep looking...maybe pick up a used T-Bolt or something.
