Worth checking out Poppy's catalogue - quite a range of stuff, some very strange stuff but some great songs - her career got really interesting when she ventured in to metal!
I've been obsessed with this song since it came out. It introduced me to Bad Omens and I'm a new fan for sure. I love Noah's voice but this song isn't a feature. It's as much Poppy's as it is theirs. She co-wrote it with Noah and one of her collaborators, who co-directed the video with her. She's a great artist imo. You should react to some of her music. She covered Spit by Kittie, that's fire 🔥 And her EP EAT (NXT Soundtrack) is amazing. She produced the whole thing. Bloodmoney is also different, Grammy nominated for best metal performance. The whole album I Disagree is a masterpiece imo. Hope you get into it! Oh btw Noah does have a lyric at the very end "I am not a-" They sing it together live and he does more. Yes, layered with Poppy on the verses (which slap)!
Absolutely love Poppy. I've been a fan of hers for years. Her music is all over the place, so many different genres... which seems to be a driving force in music these days and I love it! Just recently got into Bad Omens and I'm pleasantly surprised by their sound and probably will become a fan as well. This song however does not 'feature' Poppy... it's a collaboration between Bad Omens and Poppy. Even though Noah doesn't sing on this track, he wrote and produced it. There is major talent in this song and I hope they do more collaborations in the future.
OMG MICHA FINALLY W SOME POPPY! SIS THIS IS IT! I'm sorry you were unsure of how ya felt about it. Poppy is literally my fave artist out there. Every Album and EP is a totally difference inspired piece and all have different genres tied in. She's honestly incred, especially since you love Kim Dracula. If you know more about Poppy's story the themes kind of fit in more. She started in cutesy pop music when she made her youtube videos posing as an AI/Robot type. Back then her music was more satirical. She then broke up with the director who made the character/videos with her because he was abusive and that's when she started making the music she wanted to and went the metal route. So I kind of take the VAN as her being violent against her director, the guy 'who created her' (hence the line before the first breakdown). her EAT NXT soundtrack is her heaviest alongside her cover of Kittie's 'Spit' I Disagree is the most popular album probably though (Although I feel she's polished her work so much in the 4 years since it's release) Flux is more punk, Zig is more Dark Pop and probably the weakest imo. Hope you enjoy her! I lowkey wish she'd make a full album w Bad Omens after this track.

Poppy is great, she did indeed start out making pop music but nowadays she just makes whatever she feels like at that time. She has made pretty heavy metal music with a lot of screaming, but her latest album is more techno inspired, and her album before that had a more punk feel. So I would never call her a pop artist, she does a lot of genres. Also, the streaming version of VAN is bit better with a longer outro. Poppy is currently touring with Bad Omens as their opener, and this song is a beast live. Noah joins in on the singing when they do it live, and there is less processing on Poppy's voice which sounds a lot better to me. It feels a bit much here.

He manipulated her into adopting the persona of a puppet who performed at his whim. He made her wear all pink and speak like a robot, as well as sing only pop songs. She ventured into metal after she broke free from him. A lot of her metal videos and songs are about her taking her anger out on the people who abused her. You definitely should check out her cover of Kittie's "Spit". In her video for "I Disagree" she plays a pop star who murders all the executives at her record company. And in "X" she plays a controlling, manipulative cult leader who murders her followers and then bathes in their blood.
What a lot of reviewers are getting wrong is it's Bad Omens AND (x) Poppy, not featuring Poppy. Hence, why Noah is not on it but did create and produce it. Check out the live from Germany. He's there.
Yeah I wouldn't exactly call Poppy so much pop as well "poppy". Yeah I know I'm a genius. I'd say shes more techno/alternative. With her either you dig it or you don't. Shes intentionally pushing the envelope, its what she does. And the Bad Omens part is pretty much what you'd expect, no complaints here. Great reaction!
Music was great. Vox are just bad and dont fit. They dropped the ball not having Noah sing in this at all. It just felt like the Poppy Show here. Makes no sense. The screaming part was cringe too. But I think as a band, musically this could be a vibe they could build on. Liked the sound of it a lot.
Screaming is usually a technique used in metal songs, Noah does that too. It’s just enjoyable to some ears because it adds a layer of heaviness to a track.
