hi dave just sitting here with my first wherry and rewatching your video , well surprised with the way it turned out really nice ill be doing this one again thx for getting me started and inspiring keep the vids coming cheers
done the woodfordes wherry a few times but i'm rubbish at brewing, there always seemed to be a marmitey taste to all my brews apart from one of the first times i kegged a brew with woodfordes wherry and drank it before it carbonated and it tasted lovely even tho it was flat. i think it's because i need to ferment at correct temps and leave it long for the esters(or whatever) to settle down. does anyone else know what i'm talking about with the marmaitey flavour or like a bitter yeasty flavour?
Alright mate, I brewed this kit 4 weeks ago. Been in bottle now for 25 days, just had a bottle and; out of the fisrt 4 kits I've done, this one's the best by miles. It's still young, but I can taste the fruitiness coming through, with toffee notes at the end, not as bitter as I thought, but still a very drinkable brew. I'm going to try all grain next, see what the difference is. Keep the vids coming fella, always enjoy listening to you, )
My Wherry is really clear, well carbonated and with no yeasty aftertaste. It's had 5 weeks in the keg, I picked up another Wherry kit today (£15 in Wilkos) and that will be going into a King Keg with a top tap. I'm really happy with the kit, I won't be doing another Youngs kit while ever I can get these.
I want to try this one next. The two can kits are very good. I did a St. Peters Ruby Red Ale last time and loved it. It just needed a while to clear properly. My favourite beer is Hob Goblin so I'm looking for something similar.
looks incredible!! not a huge fan of sweet beers in general, especially if the hop profile is low, however it sounds good! good call on leaving the bottles for a bit, this way you are not quick to make changes on recipe based on sampling too early. good call!
not sure mate...i wouldn't have thought so..sometimes giving it a stir and moving the sediment gets it going again. after 4 weeks bottled mine was great....did not last long.
Just sampled my first pint of Woodfords Wherry. Fermented for 2 weeks and then added to pressure barrel with kit prescribed amount of sugar. Left for 4 weeks (this is a lot more difficult than it sounds) and now my first pint is done. Wow! I've brewed for a while now and this is the dogs wiggly bits. Superb draught beer at home with no hint that it's come from a kit. It's so good I've just ordered my next batch. May try bottling next time but my goodness it's bloody good from the barrel.Interesting to know if there is there anyone who thinks bottling is the way?
Oi Oi Dave m8 hope all's well. I've opened my first bottles of wherry today...beautiful fruity taste n malty too. nice bitterness...yeah it's a nice session ale ...it's bin sunny down ere so sat on garden n cracked open a few...good health to ya Dave m8 ..big Oi Oi....gav.
hy i call from italy and i made my first beer :woodfordes wherry. i want to know how much sugar for priming. in the istructions box is 5/6 gr per liter.is it too much for a bitter? may burst the bottles? thks!!!!
Your videos are grate! I'm normal ya cider brewer but have naught my first woodfords wherry and was wondering how much sugar you put in each bottle I'm using different size bottles 360m to 500m
Hi Dave, love your video's!! Im pretty new to the home brew scene, and im looking for quite a light, session ale. Im not really an expert but i really enjoy a timothy taylor's landlord, that type of thing. Not a fan of the strong tasting chocolaty beers. Do you think the wherry would suit me? Or can you recommend me a kit to make? Cheers mate, keep up the good work.
I am planning to start brewing some Woodfordes Wherry in a few months time. I have a small apartment with a very limited amount of ventilation. Does any body know if it smells bad/strong during the brew? Cheers
just with the LME. but this kit gets great reviews on the uk forums and i was sceptical..don't believe the hype...but with this kit i was amazed how nice it tasted...a defo brew to do again.
I'm planning on picking up a Woodfords Wherry kit tomorrow from my local homebrew shop. I did make an order with Th Online Homebrew Company for this and some other kits. Two months later and still no goods have arrived and no refund yet either. They won't even respond to me. Avoid them like the plague.
It's not the strongest of beer ...i think off the top of my head was 3.5-4%....however i'm glad it never turned out too strong as it made a nice session beer.....you could mess with the kit and add sugar to give it a kick etc
Lol m8...honestly it was really nice so I decided to open a few..then after tea it turned frickin cold...but I'm goin t leave the wherry for a couple more wks to smooth out...I've got some wilkos delicate pilsner in primary barrel . I used brewing sugar n light spray malt. then I'm gonna king keg it...cheers Dave m8 good health n Oi Oi....gav.
Thinking of you in my prayers, Dave. RIP
Your videos are legendary. I can almost taste the beer. Keep 'em coming please.

@HoppyBrewerUK Cheers matey, Woodfordes is becoming my favorite beer by far at the moment..next review in the Norfolk Nog...can't wait.
I also find that the 3 month mark is usually spot on. The beers taste great if left that long.

Yeah, I wish new homebrewers weren't told to let their bottles age for 2 weeks... a month or more really makes a huge difference.
How long did you leave this to fement for? Thanks, great video.
wicked color on that brew

12-14 centigrates degree.

All i can say is give it a go...and try the coopers IPA and Australian pale ale.
You said it was sweet, so I doubt I'll like it, I have never had a nice "sweet" beer. Is it really that sweet?
hmm never heard of this one. good video man!
After the first three minutes all I could think was 'c'mon Dave hurry up & get it down ya gregory!' £18 quid in Wilko's... 40 pints. Cool!
There is mate..check out my black pearl video
Thats a really good price £15 so get them while you can mate.
