It's one of my AM favourites. The way it tells you such an interesting story, and the way it escalates both musically and lyrically until it explodes towards the end is just too much for me. It's Alex Turner at his prime I think.
Humbug is definitely their best album, followed by Favorite worst nightmare, my top songs are: -Too much to ask -The blond-o-shimmer trap -Evil Twin -Crying lighting -Fright lined dining room -505 -If you were there beware -Despair in the departure lounge -No buses -Only ones who know Not even including their amazing covers (also Get around the wind by Alex never fails to make me cry)
Personally, AM is my favorite album by them and always will be. I didn't discover them until hearing Do I Wanna Know? on TH-cam, 6 months after it released. I was a sophomore in high school and not exposed to much so this album helped me discover alt rock/indie music which I didn't know I needed in my life. And so I didn't get that experience of hearing all of their albums when they released which I wish I did, but I love every album so much and they're just a part of my life and including TBHAC, which I think is an absolute masterpiece and work of art.
your video reminded me how much i love the arctic monkeys, the long time between their last album made me shift to other bands and lose a bit of interest, but damn i'm all about love now! thank you for the reminder!
Put aside all the rock'n'roll media and stuff. My favorite band of the new era. Great songwriting, aestethic, sound, influences. Best young guys around.
humbug is my favourite album of theirs so far. the darker tone is a great change that I really appreciated. I’m predicting the next album has some resemblance to the likes of tame impala and mac demarco.
alex turner is hands down the most talented artist of the music industry. it’s so rare to find someone who’s an amazing musician, playing several different instruments, a great fitting voice for the music he’s playing, while, most important of all, being a PHENOMENAL songwriter. anyone would be lucky to have 20% of the talent this man possesses
I am a guy from Northern England who grew up with the arctic monkeys. For anyone in this situation, whatever people say I am is the best. It's a cultural icon which is hard to explain
Dude I live for these videos of yours. Very eloquent thoughts on my favourite artists of all time. Fingers crossed their new album lives up to the hype.
Humbug is definitely their best album. My propellor, crying lightning, dangerous animals, cornerstone and pretty visitors are all in my top 10 favorite songs from the band
Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino and Humbug are two of my absolute favourite albums of all time, perhaps even my favourites. They don't get the recognition they deserve.
omg me! i came after they stopped doing shows and big live performances. definitely if i could go back in time, i would go to an arctic monkeys concert just to feel the absolutely banging vibe!!
@@deal5245 alex writes beautiful lyrics but imo, its probably one of those regrettable songs. awfully too repetitive and the lyrics dont offer too much lyrical substantiality. but you do you
Finally someone taking steps in order to actually tell us why they love somethin and not why it's important or matters. Dude, I subbed and now I am Full on inspired to do my videos
Reading festival 05 was the turning point. I saw them there and 2 weeks before when their august tour selling out 500 capacity venues. Everyone knew the songs even though they never had anything out you could buy. but after reading the october tour was announced and sold out in days. With london astoria probably their biggest show at that point.
Absolutely love and connect with all your vids and you've helped me discover some new artists and learn more about ones I already listen to so thanks you!! I'd love to see vids on King Krule and Bon Iver :)
Seeing all the comments stating humbug is allot of people's favourite album just shows the difference between how critics rate a bands art compared to the fans, every band has that album that will be remembered for its commercial success (AM) and the that album that will be remembered for its artistic endeavours (humbug) brilliant album.
I honestly don’t get the Humbug hype. Every track that’s not Crying Lightning or Pretty Visitors is really forgettable and boring, and I will never for the life of me understand why anyone gives a single shit about Cornerstone
@@garmen- what hype? It's just a solid album if you don't get it well it's on you ey, it's not on anyone to convince you. Barley anyone loves this album first listen it's not that kind of album, if you like lads on the town Indie tunes you know where to find them

this is the only channel that talks about indie music the way it should be talked, its like a revival of 90's MTV but in the present and talking about the cool stuff, keep forever with the amazing job dude!
AfroMedia, big fan of your videos. Listened to most of the artists that you've mentioned on your videos. You have covered many great upcoming artists, and your favourite musicians. How about talk about your "guilty pleasure" music? Discuss about what's so great about them and why you had the "guilt" while listening to it? Just throwing out ideas here, interested on your take on "guilty pleasure" music, in case you have one.
I love how diverse and yet cohesive their style is. From the rough garage rock of WPSIATIWIAN to a more agressive indie/alternative sound in FWN. I love the how they kept their agression from LP1 - LP2 and simply polished and refined the sound. The lyircs then took a huge leap from stellar to phenominal. In Hunbug we see that evolution and the rock agression fades out but is still present (Pretty Visitors, Crying Lightning, Dangerous Animals) and is combined with those tongue twister lyrics alex loves. Suck it and see took abit of a dive for me and it carries on that switch from raw garage rock to a physcadelic alternative sound. AM was a return to form and when compared to the 1st the change is jarring however when we follow the progression throughout it works. AM is polished and clean with expert lyrics and agression light physcadelia and a hint of pop mixed in. IMO the best albums are: FWN Humbug WPSIATIWIAN AM Suck it and See In terms of songs my favorites are: 1. Pretty Visitors 2. D is For Dangerous 3. Balacalva 4. If You Found This Its Probably Too Late 5. You Probably Couldnt See For The Lights But You Where Staring Straight At Me I love all of them and eagerly await what Tranquility will bring.
The older fans only love WPSIATWIN and FWN The real fans love Humbug The SIAS fans only love SIAS The newer fans only know AM The die hard fans love all of their albums
Uchima I completely disagree ...a fan is a fan! There should be no criteria- you can appreciate what you want! Loving music isn’t about looking good to ‘other real fans’. A ‘true fan’ is a myth! If you like it you like it!
Mercedes Dunn yo chill just sorting it out because if you ever look into it literally everywhere that’s not the case. Some people fucking hate their new shit. They like their old stuff. Some people just found out about them from AM. And you literally just agreed with me too. I just said if you’re a fan you like them why are you even arguing if you just restated what I said?
Honestly tho they are my fave thing ever. I feel honoured to have grown up listening to them and I really do adore them, I've never listened to a band and just loved them so much. Like honestly watching this video gives me Chils and heart ache over how much I want to meet them💞💞💞💞
I was such a huge fan of this band, i had every demo, cover and alt version downloaded on my phone. AM kinda turned me off of them but i hope this next album is ambitious
don't know what's my favorite. loved them since day one. Funny thing though, i could never get into the "suck it and see" album. That one is just too middle of the road for me.
What I find really funny is that Arctic Monkeys could have been a great prog rock band as well. I mean....just listen to Perhaps Vampires is a bit Strong but... and This House is a Circus (my personal two favourite songs). Great video though man, honestly I really respect your opinions and thank you for clarifying why I love this band #ultracheese
Hey, have you listened to Jam of Boston? It's a jam they started adding to their shows, it's really proggy, and I suspect they're going in that direction on their next album
