I know you get comments about buying a new chopper but I am always impressed how you maintain your equipment. Lots of preventative maintenance and taking time to change parts before they break. Also applying paint to avoid rust. Good job
A used backup chopper has been bought that is scheduled for delivery sometime in the future that will be available along with a backup chopper header that was bought earlier this fall.
Andy, let these people know how many hundreds of pounds of milk equates to a $1200 window. This is why, we as farmers repair our own equipment if we are able. Keep plugging away, love the content
Andy you have done a fantastic job on upgrading an fixing the chopper for next year’s harvest that’s why that machine has lasted as long as it has because of your watchful eye on it and Sarah is just as careful as you when that belt broke she stopped she’s not just a driver she’s driver owner 👍🚜
Chopper is good as new now, and may bring a good price if the time comes when you buy a new one to replace this one. If not, it will feel like a new one come next chopping season.
Some people don't have much knowledge on the $$$$$$$$$ one of these Choppers. Can put 50 grand a yr into and still be ahead versus a million for a new one.....
We took the front windshield out of a 9600 deere combine we were making into a sprayer twice while we were building it. You could hit it in the center with a hammer and it probably wouldn't break. When we hit it on the edge like you did yours, it sounded like a shotgun going off and broke into a million pieces. Glue in glass is always fun. Thanks for the videos.
Hi Andy , you doing a beautiful job on your chopper , your ride is looking like new inside out . for the back window , the quality of your vidéos from the rear Window will be the higher quality whit a brand new Window. Thank you at the amount of $1200 ! I will wait to see your second 8700i sometime this winter. youare the best Andy , keep rolling ! Thanks for your time and have a day everyone at the farm ! 🙋♂️
I would LOVE to see Sara and Alex buff and ceramic coat that chopper. it is SOOO worth it. I would also LOVE to see you partner with CHEM X Andy. Check him out please. His soaps are unmatched for farming and trucking!! Happy Holidays all!
I worked at Komatsu and they used a yellow primer for years and then someone decided to use gray primer and that didn't hold up. So they went back to the yellow. Outsourced pieces were never cleaned or blasted and that primer wouldn't hold up without chipping.
The window breaking shit always happens to the people who work the hardest. A former employer once told me when I did something like that. That at least he knew I was doing something instead of standing around with my hands in my pocket like a few other employees.
Andy, Andy, Andy! You've got to do something about that guy that keeps breaking stuff!! Sure hate preventing something only to end up breaking it anyway! Thanks for the video.
Usually DTM,or Powder coat. Im not a real fan of powder coat.Been painting for over 30 years, and if done right you can lay down some pretty tough paint,I have painted alot of dirt car chassis, and they held up better than powder coat(not to mention they could be easily re-coated
What gets me is these keyboard warriors holler you waste a lot of money fixing that stuff but it just panels a few new bolts and a little paint and good tio to go and then panels and that work is cheaper than a new million dollar chopper when he has a good chopper Andy keeps his stuff in great shape and I’d say buildings and all the new milking stuff has put a big dent in the bank account i don’t know how they make it but best of luck to you andy
Andy, forgive my dumb question here but, is there a setting or something that tells you what size of spacer to use for that scrapper bar? Nothing like doing a little bit of PM to save the machine(s). Great video as always. Cheers :)
@FarmingFixingFabricating Thank you Andy. I've been around the older pull type choppers and don't remember if they had a scrapper bar or not. Never operated one, I always ran the old small square baler then big round baler. Raised beef cattle. Worked with my grand parents neighbor off and on, they were dairy farmers, they chopped hay.
Your back window is not a big deal. Just think of how bad it would be if you broke a front window in season while doing work on the chopper and the replacement window was on back order.
Did you ever wonder why a can of Never seize (brake lube etc) is put in a can with a small mouth and crappy brush? Why not use a wide open jar like the old Barbasol shaving cream or even a small jar like vicks vapo rub uses?
@Darryl603 or...they know its difficult to empty and you'll buy more sooner. I'm still working off a 5 gallon pail our neighbor dropped off 20 years ago. It had about 2 gallons in it. He picked it up from an oil field operation!
That's what I like about you… this video was: here is everything I did to the chopper, and at the end here's the piece of glass that was cracked by accident, it is what it is it's ordered and we're moving on. Anybody else on TH-cam lol...... the entire video would've been about only that in a very dramatic fashion, and the thumbnail would have been a completely different picture of broken glass every place and you in the background with your hands on your head with a very surprised look on your face. Ha. Although it would be a funny joke if you did that
I need that thumb nail pic with me in tears crying like a 2 year old and blaming it on everybody else and then crying about the high cost of parts and oh can’t forget about the right to repair act as well

Why buy new, when used will do
I'm not sure if it was the chopper or the combine but he said they have a backup machine.
Chopper is about three videos ago@@Darryl603
A used backup chopper has been bought that is scheduled for delivery sometime in the future that will be available along with a backup chopper header that was bought earlier this fall.
Nice job Andy . Looks like new . And sure if u break something what about it . Your the boss and no one can give out to u . 😂😅

Currently it is 19.80/hundred weight. So 731 gallons to replace the glass.
Rough numbers and I am not sure what thy actually get paid/ hundred lbs.
Roughly 100 milking cows working one day.
@@jordy-mo5fb Indeed. Too many don't have a clue

Enjoy your videos keep them coming. You may not think, but I learn a lot from you. Keep the action and knowledge coming!!

Great video. Getting projects done.little by little.
They’ve updated the bolts and washers for the smooth roll scraper, the washer is a lot thicker now. I got caught the same don’t worry!
I would LOVE to see Sara and Alex buff and ceramic coat that chopper. it is SOOO worth it. I would also LOVE to see you partner with CHEM X Andy. Check him out please. His soaps are unmatched for farming and trucking!! Happy Holidays all!
Back to the order of business. Enjoyed your video have a great day Andy

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward for your videos

Great work bossman. 👍🏻 Another great video.
Thank you
Any winter projects ?
Hey Andy can I ask you what sort of fuel usage do you get when your chopping corn silage
Well done team

Great Vid 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for the video. Is Tim ok?
Yes he is
Will you run your back up chopper through the shop also? Just curious where the back up chopper in comparison to your main chopper.
Fluid Film on the chopper knives instead of paint?
Paint is cheaper
That was a thought but I wanted to paint some if the other parts anyway
Your back window is not a big deal. Just think of how bad it would be if you broke a front window in season while doing work on the chopper and the replacement window was on back order.
Like how you take care of the older equipment. Did you folks get hit with any of the lake effects snows
No we haven’t received much snow at all
Smash that like button! ❤🎉😊
That is one those moments Dam if I do dam if I don't.
Did you ever wonder why a can of Never seize (brake lube etc) is put in a can with a small mouth and crappy brush? Why not use a wide open jar like the old Barbasol shaving cream or even a small jar like vicks vapo rub uses?
I think it has to do with the brush setup. I've done what he did more than once! lol
@Darryl603 or...they know its difficult to empty and you'll buy more sooner. I'm still working off a 5 gallon pail our neighbor dropped off 20 years ago. It had about 2 gallons in it. He picked it up from an oil field operation!
dont forget your mice control device
Oh dang!
New crain operator! You have to watch the swing.
You saved a lot more than $1200 doing the work yourself.😮
The only people that don;t make mistakes or have WHOOPS, they don't work
Did you get any snow in NY where you are
Thats going into your permanent record.
I hope you have learned something for you never break the glass other again I hope so
thats annoying especially since you prepped against this happening.. Murphys Law...
Cheaper than a tire... Lol.....
ready for 25
👍
I think I got anti seize on me just watching .
Not to worry nobody got hurt

FOR SALE! EVERYTHING.
MAKE OFFER NO OFFERS NOT CONSIDERED.
The amount of money you saved by doing all the work yourself would more then enough pay for the window then taking to the dealership 😂
