I'm a Seiko collector. I would have paid him $800 in a heartbeat!

I still don't get why idiots go to a pawn shop to sell valuable items. It's a famous pawn shop but it's still a scuzzy pawn shop.

most of the things you see on their show is for the show. items like this arent actually sold, just brought in to reel ppl in. i dont mind the gimmick. they show off some really cool stuff like this watch.

Pretty rare. Every Seiko Authorized Dealer was sent only ONE of these in 1982.
He went from wanting $800 to $175 for it. He is easily swung lol.

Wow, I would have sold that in Ebay for $1000 easy, $175? F that, I would just keep it for collection for my self.
There is no more analog signal, you have to strap a converter box on your forearm to get a signal.
Worth it
No matter what pawn stars will offer you a lower price to lower your esteem. You could offer them the holy grail for 5 bucks and they'd still offer you a lower price
You just described the people on my local Craigslist. Whatever you ask, they offer you less.
Theres no Pic, because analog broadcast signal by major networks stopped in 2009.

There's around 1 billion TV sets ( USA ) about to be obsolete unless you buy the DAC box but where I live the Cable companies only have to provide the basic 9 channels for free .
The down side is that you might not have the HD anolog TV to get a good picture because the transition period had Digital , analog and HD but not always HD on both digital and Analog.

Someone mock me about 12 years ago when I warned about this based on a Government report for Communication companies.
The phasing out was planned to make sure all Medai entering your home could be taxed via the Monthly bills for services.
The only choice I had in 2010 was to go full HDTV with the Package per month , or buy a DAC box for about $600.00 and only get the old VHF channels .

I have had this TV Watch since 1988, and I wouldn't give it up for any price. It is just a nice collector item and who knows what it will fetch in the years to come. Other than that, it's just going to stay in my family, or sold to a collector when my time is up on earth. My mom got it for me as a Christmas gift in 1988. A man from NY brought it to my town after my mom had searched for one. He said it was a display model in some famous NY store. She paid $150 for it!
The fact that it holds the Guiness World Record as the smallest complete set of television will just increase its value as the years go by.
Is it just me or does it seem like the cashier guy has memorized a script for the history of seiko he is spewing out.. It literally looks and sounds like hes just regurgitating something he just read like 5 min before filming.

For once I agree with you about the 25% (or lower) offer from the dealer. I got ripped off once a big time by Guitar Center. They gave me $150 for Yamaha EX5 synthesizer for which I had paid $1,250 + $400 16MB flash memory expansion. Sure, overpaid for condition, which was overall very good, however the slightly misaligned LCD assembly gave my OCD run for ITS money (literally). So, I decided to get rid of it. I got the usual "there's no market for it" at Guitar Center. Bunch of millennial dicks working there, I am telling you. Stay clear from that store if you can.

eBay is a horrible place to gauge set prices,you can only really do a range because prices for anything can be all over the place

The seller knew how much it was worth, he even said he's seen it sell for $1000 online. So how exactly did chum rip him off? The seller even quoted $175 and we call it a deal.

I used to own a couple video game watches from Radio Shack when I was a kid. My uncle used to have one of the little car TVs in his car. He used to also own a computer watch in the early 90's. I used to always dream of having the special tape recorder they had in "Home alone 2: Lost in New York," but could not afford it, but I loved watching the commercials of those for sale on TV!
These watches go for at least $1000 on eBay.

people come on these shows like they never heard of ebay. pawn shops with will give you a 50% price of what your asking for
They live in Vegas they want money now to go gamble , takes time on Ebay
I'd say it's more like 30% of the price for reputable dealers, and 10% of price in some specific dealers I can actually remember the names :)

Does Chum really believe that having all of the original packaging and paperwork won’t mean anything to a collector? When the guy points out that he has that stuff Chum just says “but you can’t watch tv on it, so it’s only a collectible”. COLLECTORS tend to COLLECT things that are COLLECTIBLE.

last listing on ebay dated dec 31, 16 sold for $444 the previous one before that which was in '15 sold for $189 on ebay.

I bought a Seiko talking watch that was sold as faulty due to the voice not working properly. It was in Spanish. I put a battery in, put it into English, and made myself about $250.

jeff jackson nope. The last of analog was shut down in 2009. I built a transmitter for mine that gives me a few hundred feet of range though :)
