To hear him say, “that’s the first time I thought of killing myself” gave me such a feeling. It didn’t scare or make me sad, but the what if questions filled my head. If anyones reading this whose has those thoughts. You’re alive and someone is glad you are. Just like I am with Jack and myself.

see that's the problem with being just a fan. I deeply genuinely care about the couple of youtubers I watch, Sean included, and I would love nothing more than to just run into one of them on the street or meet them at a convention but i'm so afraid to because other fans make it creepy or I don't know how to let them know that I don't just want a picture for their fame, but to remember a really great time in my life.

The best way to deal with it is to just talk to them like a regular human being. The first thing you should say is, "excuse me" or "Good morning/afternoon". A lot of people just scream and shove cameras in someone's face, which is incredibly strange and overwhelming. Just be respectful and ask regular questions. Don't be weird and scream "OMG I LOVE YOU" lol 😂

Exactly. Like, from my perspective, these are people that I've admired and respected and quite literally grown up watching. I know so much about them and like you said, I really care about them as people. Especially watching videos like this that feel so personal, it's almost we're old friends, but then the reality is that it's completely one-sided. If I ever did see them in person I don't know what I'd do because I don't want to be creepy and the last thing I'd want is to bother them, but at the same time how could you see this person you've watched for nearly ten years and not say hi? Being a fan is a weird experience.
Hearing a man filled with laughter and joy talk about his suicidal thoughts and depression is powerful. It shows that everyone has their problems, and that no one is perfect.
Edit: You are all loved. As said in the video, talk about your issues with someone, and just remember that there is always someone out there who cares for you and loves you.
And also that there's always a way out.
And that it is fine that you're not perfect and that you might get over it eventually because we're human and life isn't always going to be great but as long as you get over it will be okay

The fact that Sean is opening up about his mental health and how he’s gone through it before and then showing how he pushed through. It’s heart warming and amazing. His positivity helped me out of a really hard time as well because I looked foreword to having someone make me laugh and smile and it was wonderful.

When Seán started talking about suicide thoughts I burst into tears
This man literally saved me from cutting myself once
I was sitting on the kitchen floor holding a knife and thinking about doing the worst and all of a sudden a jacksepticeye notification popped up on my phone
It made me stop and watch the video. Few minutes later I was laughing and almost forgot about suicide for a while.

For example, if you died I wouldn't miss you. Not for a lack of caring but a lack of knowledge. Can't miss what you don't know is gone. And again, that only applies to the real accounts
@@Dr.Spatula you can still miss somebody without watching every single one of their videos... I know a ton of creators where i dont watch all of their videos but would still miss if they were gone. The fact is they are his subs and they probably care about him at least a little. And some people just dont watch longer serious videos. That does not mean that they wouldnt miss him and his content.
When Sean said that he actively thought about killing himself I felt my heart shatter into so many pieces. If anybody feels that way please know that there are people who care. I’m a living example of the fact that things will be ok, and I’m here to talk to you if you need it. You are loved.

Some people hear it more than others. It's natural to hear it sometimes "The call of the void" it's called. It's the morbid curiosity humans have with death I suspect. I heard those calls and I was fine until my grandad died, I actively thought "maybe I should take the knife and put it through my throat, end it there" some people go through with it. Luckily I had my family and my girlfriend to help me through
The thing is we can't control it and its tragic Sean went through it. But he is here and he proves that we can get through it if we just inject all we have into what we love
My heart broke because I know what it's like to ponder that and actually think about it and be so miserable you don't even care and you really really hate yourself that much to even think about doing that to other people.

Sean seems so upbeat and happy. Speaking from experience I never would have expected him to think that. Of course you can't judge a book by a cover and his feelings are completely valid. He can't be expected to be happy all the time. He's allowed to have feelings but it hurt me so bad when he said he thought about killing himself. It hurt me so so so bad.
I have thought about killing myself or cutting myself but today like I really considered cutting myself so yeah

I remember being a young lad, and I watched you playing dolphin simulator or something. You were very loud, and obnoxious. But then I got recommended your videos more and more, so I just kept watching, and you really quickly grew on me. It's been really amazing to see all this change over the years, both in myself, in this community, and the man who started it all.

“that was the first time i ever truly thought about killing myself” those words made my heart sink. jack is one of the biggest reasons i’m still happy, especially around that time. i can’t even imagine how i would feel if he actually took his life away. i would be so miserable. i’m just so glad he snapped out of that

but as someone who has had suicide plans more than once and who struggles with ongoing depression and anxiety, i just wanted to say whether or not Jack is ever around, please don't let that change whether you are. It gets better if you give it time. If you ever seriously consider anything that is self destructive please talk to someone who you trust who can help you. Sean definitely wouldn't want his presence or absence to be a deciding factor for you.
Also I know you may have not meant that literally... you may have just been saying you want to live in a world where a great person like him is always around. Which i totally get and agree... petition for jacksepticeye to be immortal ;) but I still wanted to say something just in case you were being more literal. This world needs the Jacks as much as it needs the people like you.

watching this video realizing that sean actually thought about killing himself really hit hard. this mans videos helped me through my hardest times and stopped me from trying to kill myself multiple times, hearing him say that he had suicidal thoughts only months after i was getting better really hurts. it’s hard seeing the people who helped you through so much feel as bad as you did. we love you sean, you help us all through so much, mental health is important, breaks are needed. you helped me find who i really was, thank you.
Human beings are strange creatures. We are all very good at hiding our true emotions and for some reason everyone feels they have to put on a fake smile. It's something I have been working really hard on. I've had my own battles with mental illness and I try every day to get better at talking about how I really feel.

when jack talked about when his grandma on his dad's side had died, it reminded me about when my school friend Jacob died. we were all in the first grade, so i didn't really care. when we went to his funeral, i literally started bawling my eyes out because i realized what happend. he was very funny and a very great friend. miss you Jacob

I always try to keep a level head when listening to the mega-famous but I always appreciate the fact that I can come back to you and feel like I’m just listening to a good old friend. Jack talking about how when he was at his darkest and how he managed to get through it is probably like the most inspirational thing I’ve heard in my life. I’ve had so many therapists. So many people telling me to just “ignore it” “stop worrying”... but hearing jack talk about how me managed to pull himself out of that dark place inspires me to try it myself.
If ANYONE out there had managed to pull themselves out of a dark place by themselves i am SO incredibly proud of you. Including you Sean ❤️❤️

Also, it speaks volumes to how much depression can lie to you when even someone who has millions of people who love him can be convinced no one would miss him. It's crazy how depression can do that. It really isn't to be underestimated or dismissed, no matter where you are in life or who you may be.
People never really take a good look at all of the young comics that took their lives, or over-dosed. All of the great comedy legends we lost in the last decade and how happy and great they made other people feel, never realizing how depressed and miserable they were in their own lives.

Jack's darkest time really resonates with me and I'm glad he shared. It's good to show people going through the same time that it can get better.
I was depressed and suicidal for a long time and almost wasnt here but I got help and eventually worked through it. Now I speak about it more openly rather than keeping it to myself as I know there are others that may need to hear how it can get better.
Get help if youre feeling like this or if you see a friend like this. Professional help can do a lot. Therapy wasn't the best for me but meeting friends and talking to them helped too. Small steps everyone. It will get better.

Sean is so genuine and kind that I honestly believe that if something happened to him, myself, and so much of the internet would morn his death as his honesty and jokes have touched so many of us and even pulled a lot of us out of dark times. Even the thought of something happening to him makes me sad.
when sean said he thought about killing himself, i started crying a lot, the most in a long time. At times you forget that your heroes, the people that get you out of your darkest moments, the people that save you from suicide could feel the same

no no no he didn't almost kill himself. He considered it while being miserable, for a short period of time, then had the Big Brain to go back and analyse what had gone wrong.

He didn't almost kill himself, he thought about it, which is way to close for comfort for me, because thoughts turn into tendencies turn into actions if you let them.

Tell me why I am just sitting here sobbing watching this video. I just graduated college and I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing and it's made my depression so much worse. Hearing him talk about it really made me think about it and realize I just need to take it day by day. Thank you sean for being open with us and giving some really good advice!!
Congratulations on graduating college! There's absolutely no rush on deciding who you want to be and what you want to do. Everything happens at it's own pace. You graduating is enough to show how skilled and capable you are already, so keep your head up high and do the best you can! I hope you're doing okay and that everything goes well. :)

When he said "would anybody miss me? " I really felt that, I've never attempted to take my life and I don't ever plan to, but I have thought about it. I just want to say that if you do make an attempt on your life, it won't make things better. It will cause more pain that you might know. Please get help if you need it.

@branwyn kennedy I was having those thoughts but I never wanted to act on them. Until one day I thought that enough was enough. I wanted all the pain to go away. That day a friend has messaged me to see how I was because she knew that I was going through some bad stuff. Talking to her had turned me away from the thoughts. She may have saved my life that day. Most of my other friends are dudes like me so I don't really tell them my problems because I don't feel like it will help. But I had trusted her. Friends are sometimes closer than family and can pull you out of the darkest times.
The thing is, so many people would miss him. I would break down for days on end because I've watched him long enough that it sort of feels like losing a friend, even if he feels lonely, which is incredibly sad and unfair because he gives us this companionship that we can't because there's so many of us.
Either way, I hope he realized how much impact he's left on people like me and the whole of TH-cam and gaming to be honest. So many people would miss him. He's got an army and he doesn't even know it
@branwyn kennedy ever since i turned 16 family and friends started to mean a hell of a lot more to me than ever, i guess it was because i started to grow up mentally, now im 18 and any emotional video, movie or tv-show scene that has to do with family or friends hits me in the feels. and your comment also hit me hard, im good with holding my emotions, just not in those situations.

Yes!! I love jacks morals and his point of view on life and I would love to listen to more of it cause I could never relate more. He’s just so genuine and honest to the point where I feel like I’ve known him for a long time so hearing him give advice means a lot. I would really love for jack to start a podcast though because you can tell he appreciates everything and really enjoys talking about it so hearing his opinions can paint a bigger picture for the audience and get them to appreciate “it” as well. Not to mention he seems very understanding so hearing him give his thoughts on issues can help others be sympathetic and understanding too. Jack is honestly just a really sweet and genuine guy :)
I've struggled with suicidal thoughts/actions since I was 14 (now 22). I've gotten help over and over and it didn't work for me. Honestly started watching Jack after another episode it just came on one night that I couldn't sleep and his positive attitude, his laughter and just his personality has helped so much. He's not like the other youtubers and I 100% appreciate it! Thank you so much Seán. Keep doing what you are doing!
iv been watching since 2,000 subs and hearing him talk abt his suicidal thoughts was like a punch in the gut. wow i almost cried. i just kept thinking abt for some reason i thot abt the escapists and that series. the good times.
Everyone experiences really morbid thoughts, like "I could just drive into on-coming traffic" or "I could just jump pff this cliff".
This phenomenon is called "L'appel du vide" or "The Call of the Void". It happens to everyone, it completely normal and you are not alone in this line of thinking.
If you feel that the Call is getting louder and louder, please look at the pinned comment at the top of the Comment section. Know that there are people who care about you out there.
I sometimes have this but i know i dont want it, like "i could push him off a cliff" but i know lik 100% i wont and dont want 2, kinda weird.

I've been watching since about 2016 and seeing Sean grow up has just filled my heart with so much joy. I first found the channel when I was going through one of my darkest points, and now being in another kinda dark place recently has led me back here. Hearing one of your favourite humans speak openly and honestly really makes it easier to speak openly yourself, and it's really motivating knowing that we're all human in the end and that none of us are alone in anything we deal with. Thank you, Sean.

I think is really important. The idea that you don't have to make something incredibly amazing of yourself. You can just live. You can be a bit more boring, with less popular job. You don't have to be the best at everything or live life based on recognition. Or get your self worth from others.
You don't have to spend your whole life thinking you need to be "a somebody." Don't misinterpret, you of course shouldn't do nothing at all. But you don't have to live to the pressure of being well known, or the best of the best. You can just chill, and do what makes you happy and gets you through it. Being a little boring with a simple job ain't so bad.

I knew I had depression a year ago, but I really thought I was getting better. Now I realize it's just been coming out in a different way. About 5 years ago when I was a young teen I had very depressed feelings every day and I had hated my mental state, my physical appearance and my loved ones that had only thought they were hormonal feelings and I felt like killing myself but I have a fear of death so that was the only thing that I was hanging onto. I then had watched your videos and there is this guy that is so energetic and I was kind of curious and your channel had helped me bond with kids and they were one of my only friends and I know am on meds and I am feeling still depressed but only a few times a week and now I try to not beat myself up every day.
As someone who has dealt with recurring episodes of depression, the way that Seán decided to turn his mentality around and push through, it’s honestly so inspiring and it gives me a lot of hope for any future problems I may face. I think about how the world would be different if he had given in to those thoughts, and how much better it is because he didn’t and I realize that everyone is like that. Everyone has that impact on the world and people around them. I just cannot express how grateful I am for Seán and for this community and I think most, if not all, of you can say the same.

Jack, (or anybody else reading this) if you ever feel like this again I hope this might help you feel a little better: not only would your personal friends and family miss you, but literally millions of us would miss you, Suicide would help nobody, this is coming from someone with severe depression, and who struggles with suicidal thoughts daily, it really helps to depend on those close to you
I also have depression. I can relate to everything you said. Everyday I feel like banging my head against the wall. But seeing that I'm not the only one like that make me a lil better. And yes life is unfair. I really wish I have a real 'friend' I can speak to.

Thank you so much for your honesty about mental health in particular. The biggest thing that the future needs is transparency in what others are going through. That way no one needs to feel alone. I think that you're very good at making people feel a part of something.

when he said "that was the first time I thought of killing myself...I just got overwhelmed with an emotion...I don't know what emotion or what feeling but I just thought if he died...I wouldn't even know what to do. In 2016 and 2017, I was going through something tough and I just remember, what ever I was going through he always made me laugh and cheer me up. If he would have died I might be in way worse mental condition. So to anyone who has every felt like they might commit just remember there is always a rainbow at the end of a storm.
