Done it thanks. Slid the oven out of its cavity, propped it on two shoe boxes and removed the side covers which are over the insulation. Removed one side at a time to avoid dislodging the top-cover. It was then easy to remove the screws at the front to release the rollers and reinstall the new ones in the same position. One side at a time is the key for rollers unlike the hinges. Thanks for your explanation and support.

Very clear. I was really surprised just how strong I needed to be (and I’m a 13 stone guy) to cock back the new hinge into the clip at the end. Your tea towel hint was useful but I still had quite a struggle with it until I got it clipped back

You genius! I accidentally pulled the door off my Britannia cooker (same chassis as Smeg I think) and looked at various videos but couldn't get the thing back on. Only you show the way the hinges lock to the tabs. I had to push those down to lock to the hinges but after that it went straight back in. Thanks for this lifesaver!

The hinges you sent are similar but different to the ones I ordered and different to the ones in the video. They give a clue and so I could change them and then found that the door wouldn't close as the bottom doesn't pull in and it also sat higher. How do I get the right ones?😠

Hi Back in the saddle, both hinges will be the same so move the locking clips and retry. If the clips are in the correct position they will limit hinge movement and allow you to lift the hinge out from the oven frame.
Great video, thank you....Have replaced the hinges now and the door shuts perfectly, the hinges are in the hanger correctly but the door will not stay in the open position IE, 90deg to the frame.....any ideas as to how this is rectified.Thank you.
+John Walker If the door is closing itself then it suggests you have the wrong hinges. If it is the grill it should have lighter springs then the oven.

Firstly, if the oven is built in then remove it from its cavity. Then, the top and side panels are likely to require removal to access the roller at the side. Remove the door of the oven and it should then be possible to unscrew and remove the roller. You don't give your model number, but give us a buzz on 0844 9777 888 or head over to the website and we'll help you find the ones you need. Cheers!
To remove the door loosen the inner door screw on the top hinge, then remove the outer screw while holding the door. This should allow you to carefully push the top hinge of the pivot and then lift the door off the bottom hinge. Once removed we think the inside door glass may be fitted using push in clips to try carefully easing the glass panel away from the door.
Using the video as guide for changing a completely bent hinge on a diplomat AD5520. Have ordered a new one so hope I'll get it all back together... the receiver within the oven frame also seems to be damaged, but hope the new hinge will at least make it work again even if not that smoothly as not sure I can manage to exchange the receiver as well...couldn't find any info on that one. Has anyone done this before? The rolling bit seems to be gone.
+outonskye outonskye To replace the hinge receivers or 'keepers' you are likely to have to remove the side panels to access. We are sorry but do not have a video to show this repair.
How do I straighten the hinges to insert the pin on a Smeg A-1 oven hinge? I'm no weakling but it seems that you need to be a champion arm wrestler to straighten this thing!
+Dave Yarwood The A1 has a large heavy door that has to be balanced by the springs. A way some engineers use is once the hinge is on the door get some one to hold it flat on a towel on a table . Then find a large ring spanner that can be placed over the hinge arm to lever it over and lock in place. As you already know the hinge spring is very powerful so do take great care as a slip could easily injure.

Very odd, once both clips are lifted one hinge comes free, the other remains in place. It still moves correctly, but will not lift free, it seems to be spring loaded?
If you look closely at the shots around 1:00 you will see how the top arm is caught on the clip and held by the clip and bottom arm. Another way to remove is by moving your hand down to the arm that has not locked aand using your thumb to push the arm towards the door as you lift it off.
This is a very professional video which has been edited so that just enough of the useful and informative parts are shown; I appreciate not having to fast forward past redundant scenes, e.g, seeing a glass pane being screwed back on to the oven door. I was cleaning my oven for the first time after moving into a new house and was having trouble figuring out how to get the door back in and this video had the answer. +John Walker If designed for a heavier door they may have different springs fitted that you may not be able to see any difference in.

I have a Smeg SUK92MFX5. The ovens work but the light on the main oven doesn't switch off. It is always on. Is there some way i can fix this easily?

My smeg SY93 has doors with hinges on the side. How do i take the doors off so i can clean the glass? They don’t have the hinge / latch system.
To remove the door loosen the inner door screw on the top hinge, then remove the outer screw while holding the door.
