Thank you for making this video. I ran over about 20ft of braided steel cable and the stopping force was so great it snapped an otherwise pristine belt in two. Bummer.

Good job man! That's what I'm doing tomorrow morning on my S120. I had a giant clump of sticks and grass get caught in mine, and I smoked out the other one completely.. lol.

Engage and dis-engage the mower blades at low speed. I've been doing that and have no belt problems on my E120, 3erd season now. I think engaging the blades at high speed, stresses the belt too much. Removing the deck, makes the belt change much easier. Good video.

Thank you so much, I'm 16 years old and we're trying to lawnmower our big property but the belts keep slipping and ripping because the grass got so thick for so long, so I had to learn to put one on for my parents

@@pnv8477 pretty sure the Amazon belt broke after a couple of mows....Ended up getting a belt at the local small motor shop and that also broke after not too long. It seems the key is proper operation of the tensioner and making sure the belt is the same as factory or slightly smaller.

Question when you took the bolt off w the 15mm mine won’t come off..I got the s100 for Christmas and the belt broke after only 9 hours. It feels like it’s going to loosen and then it feels like it skips. I’ve tried for 2 days called John Deere and I don’t have a way to bring it there so I would be charged for a pick up and return even if it’s under warranty…any help would be grateful. Thank you

Good how to replace .... but cut from 2 1/2" to 3" not at 1" to 2". Why? Because like other mower manufacturers design around a 2 1/2" to 3" height of cut. I have a '04 L118 mower and the deck belt is still good after 19 years of use. The Deere dealers have a cheaper belt their their "A&I" parts network, its a good belt and about $15 less (about $22 w/tax). Also ... clean out the deck AFTER EACH CUTTING ! Didn't mention blade sharpening ... but every 4 cuts sharpen the blades, I use a 14" flat file as to not kill the temper (hardening) of the blade, you'll get 2 to 3 years from a blade sharpening with a file, PLUS cutting 2 1/2" to 3" as the blades are digging in the dirt an sand.

Lowes wants $55.98 for that same belt now! Crazy! I just got an off brand for $25 on Amazon. If that don’t work I seen one at tractor supply store for $40. If that don’t work back to Amazon to find another $25 or so belt until I find the right one. No way ima drop almost $60 on a belt that can break at anytime. Talk about a hustle!
Beautiful property by the way ✌️
