3/8 fuel line disconnect tool and there's 9 bolts that bolt the engine and tranny together. You're welcome.

Nice video. My daughter owns a 2010 Cobalt with this engine. Luckily it still runs good with about 135,000 miles on it. A shift solenoid in the transmission went out at the end of last year but she had it fixed. That job was more than I wanted to attempt so she had to take it somewhere for that repair.

Great video as I will be tearing down a 2.2 Ecotec. What was the tool you used to decouple the fuel line from the rail?

I want to replace my 2.2 L in my 06 Chevy cobalt LS 5spd but it's becoming a hassle trying to figure out which cobalts I can get the engine from and my coil pack is all-in-one so I don't know if that makes a difference and I don't know if it makes a difference if the engine comes with a automatic transmission I would think I could just take off the automatic parts and I could just bolt up my transmission if you can give me some tips it would be much appreciated because I'm going to have to go that rebuild route and just get a part one at a time and put together the engine before something else happens

Now, why can't I separate the engine from the bellhousing. Yours just slipped out.😡

Double check that you got all the bolts. There are at least two that are easily missed. Sometimes the two dowels that line up the tranny can be stuck and just need some persuasion.

@ValleyMobileAutomotive I missed the two lower motor to transmission mount. Had to jack the car back up to get them.
      Thanks for the videos 😊

Did you evacuate the refrigerant before removing the compressor?

Fortunately It's not needed. The lines can stay attached to the compressor 👍

@valleymoblieautomotive for the final bell housing bolt behind the exhaust, how would you recommend removing the bolt it the bolt strips, could I use a it’s extraction socket to remove the bolt? 12:45

I rounded that bolt because of the extreme angle. Curious if anyone figured it out

I have a 2010 Chevy cobalt lt with the 2.2 ecotech I just want to know if the 2.0 turbocharged is compatible and or worth it?

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  หลายเดือนก่อน

@@alecdalessandro5537 The problem you will run into is the engine computer is programmed for a specific engine. If you put in a 2.0 turbo you need a computer programmed for that engine plus the anti theft to recognize and like the new computer.

Now that it has been a year since you have apparently removed the engine, was it worth it? I have a 2008, looks similar year, it is having engine problems, would you recommend, did it last a year?

This car is still running great! Rebuilding engines is fun but a lot of work. If you plan on keeping the car for a while it may be worth rebuilding but if you're not sure then just doing an engine swap with a known good used engine may be a better choice.

I have to take a decision in the next three days...I have a 2010 Chevrolet Colbat, the motor is finished and my garage suggested to replace it with a used motor which he claims has a 72000 km...the garage guaranteed the motor for 6 months...I am a little bit scared about the 72000 km motor we have no life span of this motor...the job asked 2300$ +taxes...
CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR OPINION IF I DECIDE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR IS THERE A CHANCE THAT IT MIGHT NOT WORK? WHAT IS YOUR OPINION PLEASE THIS WOULD HELP ME A LOT MAKING THE DEVISION...
WOULD YOU GO ALONG REPLACING THE MOTOR OR NOT? WOULD YOU THAT STEP? SI CE YOU ARE A GOOD MECHANIC ?
thank you very much for your help and hope to hear from you soon witho the next three days...God bless

@@luciangelone $2,300 seems like a good deal. I would ask a few questions like do they guarantee it will run after installation? If it doesn't run do you still have to pay them labor anyway? What does the warranty cover? Make sure everything is in writing. Also how is the rest of the vehicle? Body, suspension, transmission etc... you'd hate to put in a new engine if the rest of the car is falling a part.
