    Thanks for watching! 😊 Please give this video a like if you found it helpful. 👍
    Some AWS services/tools that involve code: AWS Lambda, AWS CDK, AWS CodePipeline.
    If you currently don't know a programming language, don't let that stop you from starting your cloud learning journey / becoming a Solutions Architect! You can fill in the gaps and learn on-the-job.

    Honestly, quite surprised with the answer. Even with all the services coding is still the core and glues all the pieces together. And there is quite a big difference between theory and practice after all

    • @raymondnance6843
      @raymondnance6843 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm very surprised as well. In order to make alot of services intergrate together, you need lambda which requires coding. Yes several core services like EC2, VPC, and route 53 doesn't require programming. Services that would benefit knowing coding for lambda would be stuff like ELB, cloudwatch, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB. There's plenty more that can integrate with it.

    If you have a cloud support engineer, devops role.. then learning json, yaml, bash, and powershell is very useful. Being a solutions architect might not go deep into the actual deployment and sysadmin type tasks, which is the heart of getting a clients application/environment manageable, scalable/resilient, and helps when building out CI/CD through cloudformation/puppet/codepipline/lambda, etc.

  • @Qwerty20238aw
    @Qwerty20238aw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    As a former SA at AWS the short answer is Yes. AWS provides APIs. while you can have experience as a technical architect in providing guidance the clearest path to success is actually using the product. This includes programming against the APIs to assist your customers.

    • @Pyxelles
      @Pyxelles 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The services might need coding but that's not a Solution Architect's role. Of all the AWS Solution Architect Associate courses I've taken, I haven't heard any trainer mention the need for a Solution Architect to code- that's a developer or engineer's role.

    • @clhk12
      @clhk12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A solution architect should know them to give better solutions. Yes you can do it without any coding, but knowing coding and actually using the services gives you the upper hand to become a better solution architect.

      The main problem is Cloud Engineer varies from company to company. At AWS SA and Cloud Engineers do not code, it’s out of their scope. However it will help you a lot if you do know how as most people asking for help will be developers.

    It takes years of hard work to earn the respect of an architect. Paper skills are good but it takes a lot of knowledge and understanding of systems to have the courage and confidence to stand by your design and recommendations. Architecting in AWS is 10 percent about using aws and 90 percent about how your system will be built. You need a strong background in software engineering and systems design to an architect in general. Of course you can be nice and cute in front of customers and understand nothing about the systems they are trying to deploy.

      Coming from a networking background, I would recommend trying to learn the fundamentals. A vendor agnostic introductory approach would be the CompTIA network+ certification and any supplemental study resources. I used CBTnuggets when I studied for it. Good luck! Though if you decide you really want to get a networking cert it’s also worth looking into the CCNA instead. It will hold more weight on your resume and I believe the most recent changes made to the exam makes it a little more approachable. Online courses or resources for either of these certs will provide you with the foundational understanding you’re after.

    It seems to me SA sounds somewhat like an entry level when compared to devops roles. Or am I mistaken something?

    Respectfully I'm going to have to disagree on this one. The cloud allows software engineers to focus almost solely on the application layer, which is convenient for the rate of development. However, this does not always result in the best product. I know it's a controversial opinion, but in my honest opinion, non coding architects tend to fit a problem to a solution instead of fitting a solution to a problem. As a software engineer, this has ultimately resulted in multiple teams that I've been having to redesign a solution due to the outcome of the original one being less than ideal. Again, no hate, but in my personal experience I've found that the best systems architects almost always have a large amount of experience actually writing code for applications. The reason being is that understanding some of the granular implementation details aid you in better understanding some of the consequences of your design decisions.

    Can anyone give me an advice?
    I'm studying international business and my university told me "do you want AWS educate for free?" and I answered "yeah, why not?".
    I have some interest in coding, maybe Phyton, and things like that, apart from the fact that in my career I need to know a little bit of everything. So my concern is: is possible to get AWS certs in 2.5 years or i should focus just in something?
    Thank you in advance.

    • @TechwithLucy
      @TechwithLucy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely possible in 2.5 years - aws educate is a good resource. Probably also use AWS Skill builder
