I paid to remove the ads on my first Kindle from YEARS ago, and each time I upgrade, I reach out to customer service and ask if I can have the "ads free" option transferred to my new device. And they have done it each time I ask! It's wonderful.

Hey love the tips here. I just wanted to add for the first tip where you have a blank screen. If it's in dark mode, the screen will be black but if it's in normal mode, the screen will be a gray color. Wasn't sure if you knew this or not. If you did, my bad! I just found this channel and I am loving it do much.

I love that kindle automatically puts books in a collection if there is a series, that way you don’t have to continue to look for them after you finish book one for example and you need book two.
It worked !!!
I texted Amazon support and said that the ads I was seeing where annoying and that I wasn't interested in the recommended books.
In a matter of minutes my ads where removed no questions asked !

I watched your vid and just went and contacted Amazon via chat and asked them to remove the ads from my brand new Oasis. Just like you said, they did it. Thank you very much. On a side note, I also own a Paperwhite Signature Edition from last year... I prefer it due to the USB-C interface and it also did not have ads on it. Now both are ad free, I will do another comparison and let you know.

Removing ads for me did work via chat. However it took two attempts. The first person I talked to said it would be $20. Waited about a week went back on and then the second person after "talking to a supervisor" took them off for free.

It worked for me too! Sent and email to consumer support from the kindle app saying I couldn't find the option to turn ads off...they replied with in a few hours and deactivated them for free

I’ve been a Kindle user since the dawn of Kindle and didn’t know about the Grid option. I read a lot of textbooks for a study program, and am finding this really helpful now to be able to quickly go back to review text highlights I made a few pages back.

I had forgotten how to scroll quickly when I flicked up the other day, so I tried your tip. The grid was grayed out and did not work for the book I tried. However the bar with the circle on it at the bottom as also shown on your screen allows me to drag it and scroll through pages with incredible rapidity.
A tip I find useful which I don't think you mentioned in either the prior tip video or this one is that by tapping at the bottom left of the Kindle screen one can quickly adjust which location information is shown by toggling through the choices including having it blank. So if it has changed the info you want or gone blank, just tap there to change it. My usual setting is the time until the end of the book. Thanks for your videos. I did subscribe. All the Kindles our family currently, routinely, use are ad free, but I will try to remember it anyway, just in case. Since I pick up and put down my Kindle a lot, having ads pop up slowed me down too much. During long reading periods they are not an issue.
I still have the original kindle, never throwing it out - 2007 great year

Sometimes I’ll tap on my kindle by accident and things pop up and I’m not even sure where I hit it on the screen and can’t get back to it. lol So thank you! And that’s the one thing that frustrates me is trying to go back a few pages and it takes forever!

Thank you for your tips. I just got a kindle and with not written included instructions I was having a hard time trying to navigate it. You have helped me immensely. I do have a question though. when I have finished a book can I archive it and if I do can I later retrieve it to my library?
I know that this video was made by an American (for an American audience), but it should be noted that, in no country that I am aware of, does the *audio book option* work with (any version of Kindle) outside of the U.S. When I first bought my Kindle Oasis, it was an option, and then several months later, Amazon (in their infinite wisdom), removed the ability to listen to (any) audio books along with the text from a Kindle. That feature is exclusive to the U.S. only.

i contacted Amazon by chat today. I asked if I paid for the ads to be taken off and later gave this Kindle to a family member or sold it, would it be permanent or would that person have to pay when they registered the device in their name. They said it would be permanent. Without me asking, they offered to take the ads off for free! YAY! So now I am ad-free thanks to your video and it saved me some money! Thanks, love your videos!

Hi, thank you for these great tips. I am actually thinking about purchasing my first Kindle paperwhite. A noob question here, does the Kindle save the page you are in? Or will I have to navigate to it everytime I use it?
No that’s a really great question! The kindle will remember where you left off in all your books! So if you start multiple books at once, it will keep your place in all of them.
You can also make your off screen the cover of the book you’re currently reading!
Hello. I love the tip on the audiobook narration. I did everything you said but when I start to listen to the book, I hit the reading little tab in the bottom
Right hand corner to take me back to the book and read along but the audio stops. Is there something I missing.
I do this exact same thing in the middle app on my phone and it’s flawless but on the kindle itself it is not working.

I just got a kindle and didn’t know it was ad-supported. I asked customer service and they removed it for free! It took like 3 minutes!

I believe either you made a mistake or I misunderstood. At about minute 6:10 you said that you could read along with the narration (amazon calls this immersion reading). This is possible on the Kindle app for both ios and Android but I don’t think you can do it on any Kindle e-ink device (at least I’ve not been able to get it to work) Using an ebook for which I also downloaded the audiobook, and that shows the headphone icon on the book cover in the library, (and that works for immersion reading on my IPAD) I have no trouble downloading the audiobook to my kindle paperwhite 11th gen, connecting my speakers, and listening to the audiobook. However, when I try to switch back to the eBook, the audio stops. I really enjoy immersion reading and would love to do it on my Kindle paperwhite. Have you discovered something I’ve missed?

The free ad removing has worked for me every time. Better chances via chat tho. Via the phone once they tried charging me. YMMV of course.

I do like to reread some of the books. My old KINDLE Fire and my kindle app allow me to do that. Not my paper white. Any tips?

Do you happen to know if there is a way, as a reader to increase the paragraph spacing specifically? I find the majority of ebooks I get from Amazon and even importing .epubs, the paragraphs have little to no spacing and it drives my ADHD brain nuts because I can’t easily land on blocks (paragraphs) to know where I want to read to in any given sitting. When I Google this question, I only get the recommendations for authors who are formatting their ebooks for the Kindle store, which obviously don’t apply to the reader. I’ve played with the only spacing option I could find, which was the sentence spacing and that doesn’t help at all. I wouldn’t even buy a physical book if it didn’t have enough spacing between paragraphs as I find it crammed and chaotic. If you have any tips for this, please please share it. Thank you 😊
So I called amazon and asked them to remove ads for free, she said she can’t physically do it, the system won’t let her. I said ok, thanks anyway. Then I hung up. A minute later, a message flashed on my Kindle that ads were removed and I was charged $20. I called back and told them what happened and that I never authorized or said I’d pay for it. I was refunded and “since I’m a prime member”, he left the ads off anyway.

I want a Kindle, but I love annotating and highlighting my books. On the Kindle there’s no color options for highlighting. Is there a way around that or a hack?
Unfortunately I don’t think there is! Hopefully that will change one day soon!

In the section of your video discussing the audible feature you said you could listen to the audible book and at the same time read the text, also known as immersive reading. This is possible on the kindle app on my iPhone or Fire, but I cannot find it declared to be possible on any Kindle device. It will not work on my Kindle PaperWhite Signature. The text-to-speech feature is possible but horrible.
This is a really great question! In hindsight, I was much too vague in the video about this feature. Immersion reading definitely seems to be hit or miss for a lot of people. I don’t know how helpful it will be, but I found this on audible.com: help.audible.com/s/article/how-can-i-use-immersion-reading-on-a-kindle-device?language=en_US
@@dylancanread Thanks Dylan. I looked at that site and others. Many others have complained about the immersive reading lack for Kindle devices. I hope the new 2022 Kindle Oasis has it.
I can’t get the reading time reset to work for me! I have retyped it multiple times, tried at the beginning of a new chapter, and just can’t figure out why it won’t work for me.
That’s strange! I’m sorry it isn’t working. If you’ve already tried this, please ignore, but maybe try typing the code in to the search bar on your “home” page on the kindle, and if that doesn’t work, try typing it into the search bar from the “library” page. Hope that’s helpful!
My question is- if u have kindle unlimited and download books, u get them forever? Or is it like Libby and returns? I have 3 months free and might stop after 3 months!

Great question! And no user error at all, I think I was a bit vague in that section of the video! To view just your collections, click the 3 lines menu (it’s the one with one long line, a medium line, and a short line - all horizontal) at the top right of your library page and then under “view options” select “collections.”

Has anyone tried connecting a set of headphones with a c-usb Jack?
Just asked in chat and the person said no maybe I will try later. She said she could ask, but if they said no I would have to be ok with them charging the fee/mentioned I got some off buying the device. I said no thank you. I mentioned I was disappointed due to already paying a fee for fire tablet, but that did not help.
Oh no! I have no idea what their “criteria” is (if any) for deciding who gets ads turned off for free and who doesn’t. A few others have said that it took two tries before it worked, so I would definitely try again at some point in the future! 😁
Definitely try again in a few days. I was told no first time and then yes the second time one the supposedly talked to a supervisor
I reached amazon and asked them to remove th ads and they did right away… then i talked to them againfrom my wifes account and asked them to remove her kindles ads and the person said no, and told me itll cost $20 so i said no thank you and 10 minutes later open a new chat with another person and they did it for free

Saw both your videos and great tips thank! I do have a question. I’m a bit confused on how to sort or view books I’ve already have downloaded and read versus books I haven’t read. Is there a way to just show books I’ve recently downloaded but haven’t started yet?
I typically don’t reread books so when I am done with a book I don’t necessarily need to see it again. Also is there a way to search for a book that’s only in my library? Using that big search bar it brings up similar titles to the book I’m trying to find on the online store AND in my library. Can I tell search to only look in my library or only look in store If I want a new book?

Unfortunately I don’t believe there is a way to only search for books in your library.

May I say sir I created my first collection using your instructions and an hour later I had all my books sorted into collections. I like that I can name the collection using my own title and put any book into it. Now when I’m in a mood for something specific I can find it alot easier than just scrolling endlessly in my library.

Amazon customer service said they'd be happy to remove my ads for $20. I said that on my budget, it wasn't a $20 issue, I was just tired of seeing shirtless guys with tattoos and billionaires in $5000. suits. Two minutes later the ads were gone! I guess it helps to know how to ask!

Tried removing Ads, chatted with Amazon, said my lil sistes uses the kindle too and i'm tired of seeing naked men in the ads, they removed them immediately for free 😂
First of all, im over 20 years an Amazon-costumer (Amazon Germany), and i have to say unlocking the ad-free-version via chat never cost a single cent.
This works also with other Amazon devices, like the Fire-tables. i unlocked already 30-35 Amazon devices for free. But its never a guarantee that this works.
Edit: BTW you should mention that removing the ads is permanent, also if you later sell the device oder use annother Amazon-account.
