  • Desensitizing Mishka so if a small child roughs him up he doesn't react; also touching his feet and toes for clipping when he's older, grabbing his nose for brushing his teeth later, touching his ears, and teaching him not to react if his collar is grabbed.

    This is so important. Desensitizing makes a big difference in mals especially if you are going to have the dog around children. Awesome video!

    wow my 9 week old is not this easy. He is not really motivated over food, nor toys.. we have only had him for 3 days now but he came to us very timid and nervous. I am also exposing him to everything specially if he barks at something I take him over to the person or object he is barking at to show him nothing to worry about

    Why do people lie about the age of their dogs? Do they want to make it seem like they're 8 week old puppy is very well trained and has good obedience? This Belgian malinois is going to top out at 150 200 lb. This is not an eight week old puppy

    I wish I had seen this video three months and fifteen days ago... Maximus was always biting, he doesn't do it as much anymore but a lot of what you're doing I can do with him.

      Tonybone Robert not to say you are not exercising her, but how much are you? May be she needs more?
      Or, if you are training right after give her cool down time before jumping in?
      Again not sure as I am not there, just suggestions 😇

      We have a 5 month old german shepherd/malanois and she can't be touched without biting and nipping.

      Amanda Flanders Maybe it's dog German for hello , ours does it some , it's more mouthing though .We let our Pitt/ mastiff female mother/help socialize ours as a kind of experiment, the results have been excellent .

      @JoyfulNomad81 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@beckywatt5048 thanks for the reply! We have a great dane that is starting to play harder with the mal. When my mal gets really nippy, the GD will let her know she went to far. She isn't being aggressive, but I do worry about future consequences if we don't nip it now lol.

    • @beckywatt5048
      @beckywatt5048 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amanda Flanders How well does your Dane listen ?all I have to do is ask/tell them to dial the tone of their play down , we have five and of course each one interacts differently , its quite an experience for the whole pack , but we're doin it .I hope I don't run out of energy !!! Stay the course , be patient , hard work pays off , I can tell you that from experience.

      alexx zanda sessions? Until they are used to it. In reality they put up with being touched forever so it is very important.

    cutesy classical music track and 'maligator' is not clever. A Malinois is used by military and police handlers around the world for serious work. It is NOT a fun dog and 'cute' and since nearly no one takes even 1 complete training class... not a dog breed for nearly anyone short of a very skilled handler. With 3 dogs through CGC and handling easily 50-70 dogs oer 25 years, I would never even consider it. It's a breed for pro handlers. YOU don't get to object or preach unless you are a pro and very skillful.

  • @FourTwenny
    @FourTwenny ปีที่แล้ว

    My mom had a dog who went through desensitizing as a very young puppy. Paw stretches, cold mats, ect. He had extreme anxiety his entire life. I disagree with that type of training completely. This video is fine. This dog is old enough to know its fine and actually trust his/her owner. Putting a 2 week old puppy on a cold matt then stretching its little paws out is just mean. Eight weeks and gentle with treats is fine.

    What desensitizing means?

    • @MishkaMaligator
      @MishkaMaligator  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're teaching him not to be sensitive/reactive to things a vet/people or children might do to him like touch his feet, noise, ears, etc. If he ignores things like that he is rewarded.
