    As a resident and a rescuer who lives in a place that is neither too close nor too far from Taal Volcano, I appreciate your videos.
    The first eruption of Taal Volcano (January 12-22, 2020) only caused a few weak tremors and a lot of ashfalls in our town, making it relatively safe. Nevertheless, our town served as a Forward Operating Base for Rescue and Relief Operations, providing shelter, evacuation services, and relief supplies to those who unfortunately suffered severe damage and were closer to the volcano.
    Since I was a fire volunteer at the time, I began helping with the relief efforts right away. I only stopped when classes resumed because I was a first-year college student at the time. Now, as an Army Reservist in my fourth year, we are currently on high alert in case Taal erupts once more.

    Taal has fascinated me for years due to its status as an oceanic island with a lake that has an island with a lake on it and an island (volcano) on that island that has a lake inside the crater. It sounds confusing and I may have left out an island or a lake in the description. It's the only place on earth with that distinction.

    • @johnjiv5790
      @johnjiv5790 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yup, you got that right. I rode a pregnant horse up to the top of it. Probably the most far out thing I ever did when I tell it back to people. I remember boiling steam ejecting from tiny fissures on the side of the mountain as we climbed it which was quite scary at the time although we were assured that it was 'safe' and relatively 'dormant' back then in 2012. However now it just makes me think that as the video said , Taal is capable of blowing its sides completely off. 😕
      God bless the beautiful people of The Philippines. ❤

      "Guinness World Records certified an unnamed island in an unnamed lake on an unnamed island on an unnamed lake on Victoria Island in Canada to be the largest of its kind. This is not to be confused with the largest lake on an island on a lake on an island on a lake. Or Netflix’s show 'The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window' " ref Nerdist (online).
      Meh. Doesn't surprise me.
      Even when you fly across parts of Canada's northern Territories on a clear day and see it first hand, it's still hard to grasp the sheer number and variety in size of closely packed lakes that run to the horizon from 25,000 ft.
      But Taal really is special. It's a big-ass-bullseye with a gihugic ticking bomb at the center of it. Big enough that the potential's there to make anything Yellowstone might belch forth look like a lit fart in the dark.
      And there it is. Snuggled up tiiight and cozy against the most populous region on earth....

    The main worry I have about Taal, isn't the fact that there's activity on the island part of the volcano, but that the entire caldera around it could go which would be a massive eruption on a near, if not, super-volcanic scale...

    • @nielsenalexisbajar5520
      @nielsenalexisbajar5520 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      That is highly impossible! The caldera activity was about when taal formed in the middle of it. And a caldera is magma chamber of a giant volcano that collapsed. The only possible thing that there could be another volcanic forming island.

    • @oddpotato4038
      @oddpotato4038 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not a volcano expert but maybe that kind of eruption has a very slim probability. Unless we saw a very significant uplifting on the caldera itself we can never truly say. We just have to put our faith on our volcanologists from PHIVOLCS and other local authorities since they're doing everything they can ensure the safety of the locals there.

    • @jjMcCartan9686
      @jjMcCartan9686 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well just like yellowstone caldera ,lake toba, santorini,the fact that there is activity at taal shows that magma is still there and there's every chance that enough magma could build up to produce a resurgent dome & maybe a possible vei 7 + eruption but there would have to be a long long period of uplift at all points of the caldera .Seems that the taal volcano inside the caldera is acting like a pressure release & not letting enough pressure build up for another huge eruption.

    • @nigelliam153
      @nigelliam153 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The narrative of how Taal formed has changed over the last 20 years.
      Rather than being the remains of a super volcano they now think the lake is the remains of 6 large volcanoes.

    Vulcanology is still such an inexact science. So many predictions are qualified with terms like could be, maybe, possibly, or maybe not…etc.

    Something unusual is occurring inside my bowels. Beginning yesterday the number of growling noises and rumbling sensations has increased exponentially. This suggests the spicy garlic chicken I had roughly 18 hours ago is fighting my digestive tract and a massive discharge of highly volatile gas will occur in the short term future. Of course, this will then be followed by numerous more violent and spontaneous gaseous explosions culminating in a massive dump of extremely stinky solid waste.

      To give you a straight answer bud, yes Taal's composition makes explosive phreatic and phreatomagmatic eruptions a constant hazard and a VEI 3-4 eruption at this volcano could occur with without much warning. I wouldn't worry about a Caldera collapse any time soon but caution is always advised when visiting Taal.

    The earths magnetic field is weakening also the magnetic poles are increasing in speed. Add to this the sun is now entering its maximum cycle and coming year risking more polar flares hitting earth.

    Ya know, the way these volcanoes act, randomly, then continuously then, sporadically, then dormancy, makes it easy to understand why people thought Gods were controlling them and taking delight in messing with the poor, little humans. I'm not so sure they were wrong.
