  • One of our favorite trails from Oakridge. Larison Rock had a little bit more character than trails like Alpine or Dead Mountain. Turns, rocks, roots, and jibs kept it interesting. Watch out for those bar bangers!

    We've all had that "I'm going to die now" moment on that trail. Not so steep, but crazy fast traversing, lots of little hips, high speed switchbacks, and blind off camber corners at Mach Chicken speed that could end you. Exactly why it's one of my favorite "little " trails 👍

    • @TrailPeek
      @TrailPeek  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It seems that in Oakridge, if the turn is blind its probably off camber too ahaha!

    I rode this trail a couple of weeks ago! Damn, it is faaaaast. Honestly a bit much for a beginner like me, but was stoked to survive it ;-)
    It's fun to watch a rider like you (who knows what they're doing) punch this trail. I'm excited to try it again after another season of building my skills throughout this year.
    Keep the videos coming!

    • @TrailPeek

      Just preference. It's nice to feel the grips on your skin. If it gets hot and our hands get sweaty, we'll put on gloves.

    Just passing observation here from multiple other trail vidoes i've seen on this channel and other american mtb channels but you guys seem to really love building trails that traverse hills when you've got elevationa and gradient that people from other countries e.g. myself would kill for :') I ride in south wales UK a lot and the trails there a lot more techinically challenging than even the videos called "steep" on these channels, you can say what you like but if you look at the riders that come out of south wales UK and go on to make an impact on the world scene something has to be said for the quality and technicality of trails over here compared to the USA where the aim of the game for you guys seems to be "flow" e.g. no real obstacles a few jumps not much pedalling and relatively large berms for what is supposed to be natural trail riding. Be good to see you guys on a good 40%-60% gradient descent in pouring rain on a slither of a track not something as wide as a pavement or "sidewalk" with mud roots and rocks and ripping that up, something to really get stoked about!!! I know someones come back to this is probably going to point out that the current EWS champion is american as is the current UCI downhill world cup champion but for the population size of people and riders few from the USA do so well and from what i've seen it's from the trails you guys build and ride. Not hating on the channel or riders at all i'm just making observation on the trails you guys ride because after all if you practice harder more technical tracks you will ultimately become a better rider.

      It's pretty easy to say the trails looks easy and flat when watching GoPro footage. Especially some of the trails in Oregon. Lots of super fast contour trails. I can assure you there are plenty of steep technical trails in the US.

    • @samswift3360
      @samswift3360 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      First up man thanks for the reply wasn't expecting one so fast! As someone who also tries to film themself riding their bike i'm aware that you can go ride a trail and get to the end and be super hyped with the speed and riding and then get home and watch the footage back on your laptop and it looks like riding a pavement... a slow pavement at that too. I'd love to see some of the steep techy trails you have out there! I'm sure there are some beasts out in the US it would just be epic to see them and showcase what you guys can really do when the going gets gnarly I'm certain you have the skills to do so! Much love for the quick reply dudes x

    • @TrailPeek
      @TrailPeek  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Of course man. We know what that's like for sure! I agree that the US is lacking in real technical and difficult trails but they are out there. Definitely less common than the U.K., Europe, NZ or Canada. Lots of rules, regulations, and liability that prevents those kinds of tracks from getting built. We'll be getting footage at some of the bike parks when they open up.

      The forestry over here is less governed and watched than over in the US if i'm correct?.. you guys in the US have loads of forestry workers monitoring things such as any new trails appearing, and most of the forestry in the UK is grown as a crop for logging and cut down every 15-25 years so we can go in and build what we like to an extent... they'll flatten any silly jumps or features they could see a liability court case over but as long as you're responsible and don't go cutting down trees or lopping great branches off them you can build quite freely.
