Hey captain joe, thanks to the pandemic your TH-cam channel became an online school for aviators! Congrats and I’ll keep an eye out for your new videos. Thank you for making these videos, hope you’ll continue it for as long as it takes!
Who is still in Class 10 and is busy watching Captain Joe instead of worrying about his BOARD EXAMS. ;) Huge fan of Captain Joe and love from INDIA🇮🇳🇮🇳🤗🤗
This was a MUCH simpler and easy to follow step by step way to read a METAR than I’ve seen in any of the private pilot courses I took. Highly recommend you keep making videos like this.
I'm a french girl learning English, and I just want to say thanks. You made me realize that my dream can come true if I work every day for my futur. I know that I will be an airline pilot now, so I'll never renounce to my dream! Good luck to those who want to become a pilot, don't give up! Thank you very much Captain Joe! First of all I wanna take this opportunity to thank you Sir for all the amazing Aviation videos on your channel. These videos have really helped me in my Aviation classes at school may God bless you. Can you do a video on decoding TAFs and PIREPS I still have trouble decoding them. Thank you.

I play a lot simulators and vatsim and that is very usefull. Thanks Joe. A pilot always learning.... Despite this type of video doesn’t interest everybody as we see, the minority who watch it are very happy. Thanks again for your efforts.
Just a quick note, in some countries if CAVOK conditions apply AND there's no cloud cover and 10km+ visibility, then the Metar will just read CAVOK, and skip the visibility/cloud cover.
@@craigie13 Russia and China are more metric than the west with its ft an kt. America is worst. Inch Hg is really questionable unit nowadays. It is also noteworthy that US airbases in Europe give pressure in inch Hg like Wiesbaden for example or Ramstein, Grafenwöhr etc.. So you might face it also outside US.
Hi Joe, my question is what type of training course did you take? What is integrated or modular? Were you guaranteed a job at the end? Asking because I’m hoping to become a pilot when I’m old enough.
I’m a meteorology major in the United States and I learned this the other day. SKC means the sky is completely clear and CLR means the sky is clear. These may sound like they mean the same thing about if you see SKC on a METAR that means the observation was made by a human while CLR means that it was made by the laser. The difference in these are because the laser can pick up a clear sky straight above it but there can be thick, dense clouds/fog around it that the laser won’t pick up. This could be different in other countries but that’s how it is in America. I’m hoping to go into aviation meteorology in the next few years so stuff like this is very interesting to me.
Hey Joe, thank you very much for explaining METAR in this detail. I am curious about the history of the METAR and how to get it (today and in the past). Maybe I'll make my own video about it.
Captain joe I do not know if you remember but I built a cargolux 747 for you with the key ring and just want to say thanks for the information you are my idle stay safe and congratulations

Hey pilot Joe, I have been interested in being a pilot since I was four years old😂 I don't even know why I said that, anyway, the reason that I am sending you this is because watching your channel and some others you have really helped me with educating myself on the career path, however, I have ran into some confusion. My question to you sir is if you need a degree to become a pilot because I have read you need one in aerospace engineering or air craft operation and I have also read that you don't need any. I just really needed some clarification on this since since I am already 17 and trying to think of if I should start my training and career right after finishing highschool or should I go to a college for one of these degrees. I have no idea when you'll see this but when ever you do thank you for making your videos and and thank you for when ever you answer🙏
Dear Captain Joe, I'm not sure if you will read this but could be have a documentary series on the whole airbus and Boeing lineup, i.e. One for 747, then 757, and so forth. However, you are doing excellent work at the moment! Yours, Sohan

Guillex Aviation The captain of TACA Flight 110 lost vision out of his left eye, years before the TACA Flight 110 (His plane was shot at during a civil war). I can’t definitely “yes or no” however, looking at history that’s what I can tell you.
4:05 What happens if the wind speed is too fast to fit in 2 digits? I guess you wouldn't want to try landing in a hurricane anyway, so that might not be a problem.
Hi Captain, I remember listening to ATIS (on a hacked FM radio) from GVA years ago. Three things: 1) they would say Geneva information Foxtrot ; letter changed every 30 mins. 2) Charlie Bravo was sometimes mentioned, what did that mean ? 3) same for NOSIG. Is that old terminology ?
Since it’s an ATIS the information letter would just be changed when the conditions changed enough that the data in the broadcast would have to be updated. So if there was fog at 0800 you might have Information Alpha changing to Bravo when it cleared as an example. 2) CB is the code for Cumulonimbus cloud 3) NOSIG just means No Significant Weather in the vicinity.
@@copyandme all good I learned all this recently, so going through the comments and helping people is a good way for me to cement it in my knowlege too :)

Ceilometers, at least in the U.S., measure cloud height, but not cloud type (though that can be loosely inferred from the height). For example, a ceilometer might tell you that the ceiling is at 4,000 feet, but it can't tell you if that's a stratus, cumulus, cumulonimbus, or another type of cloud.

This is waaay too overcomplicated, it should be standardized to be the same for all countries.
