When helping make this boss, I really tried to push Ceroba and her expressions to be as pained but also scary as possible. Both in a sad/physically pained way but your also fighting someone whose fighting themselves, scary way.
Shattering both her shield and mask is symbolic of breaking the barriers of not only between her and her friends but to remove her own "mask"...Underneath that facade is a A broken person, a regretful person, someone who made the worst choices and now has to live with them. We all make stupid decisions when we're at our lowest, especially when given Impossible odds... some mistakes are just more costly than others...
Despite this, shes still determined to hang on to the little chance that she has left, even if she is misguided. When were frustrated and losing, we scream out, both in an emotional sense, AND anime fight sense in this case lol. She is stubborn in the worst ways, even with the best intentions. That's what Ceroba is to me, I don't know how other devs and the main writers would say but that was my mindset.
It can be hard to convey that with the the limits of sprites and small animations. I'm extremely happy something like this has happened and can show more of that emotion. The pain, the screaming, the lyrics. All nailed. MOTI, YOU ROCK
Exactly, I'm tired of some fans just oversimplifying her actions and making it seem much worse than it was, yes it was a bad fuck up, but she was also under alot of pressure

Ceroba is by far my favorite character in the game because of just how in depth she is. So many people look at her from a surface perspective when they don't seem to realize that she's a mother who lost everything. She has a chance to fix things and save a loved one. Even if it means becoming a true villain in the eyes of her friends.
Parents do some really stupid things for the sake of those they love.
Also, I flipped out so hard on those animations, they are BEAUTIFUL!
@@bluemario610 I feel a lot of fandoms unfairly hate on characters who make stupid/bad choices even if they're for in-character reasons. I haven't played Undertale Yellow but just from watching fights and reading info I can tell Ceroba is one of the best examples of a "tragic villain" I've seen and should be a case study in how to write one.
I say this with high praise, the tone shift from “oh she’s a kitsune, neat” to “I AM FIGHTING BAIKEN’S FURSONA” was incredible

@@erikm8373 i think it's about how one of them *will* die in fights like this, so they're either venting this to someone that will die anyway, therefor it having no real impact, OR they're venting it out because it's potentially the last opportunity to let it out before they kick the bucket too
could also be some kind of desperate emotional damage i suppose? doubt they're really thinking the murderer would take pity on them though

That scream. It gave me genuine goosebumps. The anger in maiden's voice as the hopes and dreams part of the song. The crying at the end after the mask cumbles. Maiden really showed her talent in this song.

The absolute desperation and heartbreak in Ceroba's voice really hits hard if you know all she's been through. This woman had her kid attacked by a human, lost her husband to experiments with said human's SOUL, and then caused her daughter to fall down and, in turn, become an amalgamate (unknown to her until after Undertale Yellow), and now she's trying to kill another innocent child who she's grown to care about after everything.
Is it known which amalgamate kanako was fused into? I'm curious.

Everyone criticizes Ceroba's character design by saying she's a bad character because what happened is her fault -- when that's the whole point of her story. She made a decision that was a huge mistake, one she could have easily to avoided in hindsight. She knows it's her fault and that's why it hurts her so much more.
And now all she wants is JUSTICE, for Chujin and for Kanako.
She's stupid. Literally. That's it.
Also some people complain that her arc took over near the end which they didn’t like considering it pretty much spanned between 2 and a half locations

3:18 One thing from the original song you captured absolutely PERFECTLY here (on top of everything else) is the transition from intense anger and aggression to something softer, sadder, but equally inense from this point on. She has the growl in her voice after the Hopes and Dreams drop that just COMPLETELY dissappears at this point. Nicely done there!

This will likely be a common thing you will hear in the comments, but I will take the opportunity to thank the team for making this.
From the art, to the lyrics, to the voice acting. All of these factors add up to making a truly brilliant song.
Again, I thank the team who made this, along with the team that made Undertale Yellow; without the inital game and soundtrack, this video would not exist. Thanks also goes to Toby Fox, who not only made the original game and soundtrack (which motifs are taken from), but also helped the Undertale Yellow team deal with the issues with Materia Collective and their CEO.
A part of me hopes that the songs taken down from the original musical you made will be able to be restored. That may be a limited hope, but the thought is there.

We cannot complain about that. This is also assuming that there are not hidden songs in the premier, nor that will appear in a potential second bytes video.]

Ceroba's scream when I first heard it in game gave me chills and the scream here in the song was able to give me that same feeling again. A Mother's Love is already a fantastic song filled with so much emotion and this lyrical version did a fantastic job at adding to that emotion. Amazing work as always!

So I've been listening to other lyricized video game songs, both on MOTI and other channels (e.g. Juno), and if you told me that the same singer put a Wild West drawl on Esther Winchester and an anguished scream into Ceroba, I wouldn't believe you if I hadn't seen Maiden in the credits of both.
Unbelievably well done.

I was vibing along loving the references and the immediate dive into the theme of desperate pessimism vs. justice and then suddenly 0:40 hit and watched in awe as Maiden locked in. And just when I thought my awe was over, that gutteral scream at 2:48 sent me reeling once again, with the song following tearing at Ceroba's vocal chords, leaving with a heart breaking last cry at 4:25... Awesome work Maiden!

I love when after she screams we can hear for just a second her hoarse, really monstrous voice but after a secod she came back to her normal voice. I like to interpret that she is really angry, but she needs to focus on the fight and can't let her emotions take over. Maybe im over-analyzing it, but it just send shivers down my spine and I love it.

The voice acting was phenomenal, oh my god… fits Ceroba perfectly and the sound of pain in the vocals is so well done. The additional dialogue at the start and the scream being vocalized are also nice attentions to detail that just shows that these guys care immensely for the source material. Awesome job 👏

she wasn't in the best mental state and was under immense grief and stress while also suffering from sleep deprivation. It's obvious she wasn't able to think clearly or make good decisions at the time, and it only got worse from there

But I think that even someone in these conditions would be aware enough not to use an untested serum on your own DAUGHTER! Honestly, I kinda hoped this would be a Hopes And Dreams type of song, where they do the whole bossfight. I'm not kidding, A Mothers Love is great, but Some Point Of No Return is also fantastic, and it is a shame nobody dubbed that song. It is honestly one of my favourite tracks from the game

The vocals, the art, the lyrics, the callback to Hopes and Dreams with the "No more hope" line at the same time as the AUDIO REFERENCE TO HOPES AND DREAMS- THIS COVER IS SO GOOD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! One of the best songs I've ever heard on this channel! And of course, Maiden absolutely nails the vocals. Simply phenomenal.
