What I have always loved so much about you two especially Dalena is the honesty in her face when she really likes something she is eating. The oyster was just so funny! I thought to myself omg she is NOT going to like oyster and cheese at all. I don’t know what happened but she sure jumped out of the video fast! So impressed that she tried very proud of you Dalena well done you. It is just so nice to see you two out and about having fun and eating all sorts. ❤️
Haha another favourite video of mine is the old video of the boys at the island and Son and Lubin literally gagging eating the oyster.

You guys missed the best parts of Miyajima: Daishoin temple, Momijidani Park and climbing Mt Misen. The observatory at the top of Mt Misen gets you a fantastic view of Hiroshima bay. The area closer to the ferry docks and Itsukushima shrine is more touristy and mainly shopping.
Also Itsukushima shrine at high tide is beautiful, even with the famous torii covered in scaffolding.
i wonder if there are still mad monkeys on top of the mountain? When i went up there they had a tendancy to fling shit and steal stuff! Still fun tho!

Miyajima island is one of the best place for a hike, you can get to the top of mount misen in about an hour or two walk up and view is great along the way and on top!

The footage you took of Miyajima truly captured the nostalgia that can be found if you’re actually paying attention.
I prefer Osaka Okonomiyaki over Hiroshima. Hiroshima Okonomiyaki tends to be a bit bland.
Stick to Osaka for Okonomiyaki, takoyaki, and pretty much everything else. 😂

Enjoy the week ahead! - Isshuukan-saki o tanoshimu! Too bad the torii was under construction. It's difficult to imagine the actual size until you see it up close! Agree that Hiroshima is maybe 2 days at most. Of course the Peace Museum that you saw last time is a must, and okonomiyaki from the home of okonomiyaki!

Come up to Toyama, mate. It's got the best sushi and other good food. Not to mention the mountain range on a clear day is stunning. In my opinion it beats Fuji

Next time you should take the ferry from Okayama or Kobe to Nao-shima. It’s an art island. My favorite place in Japan. I live in Nara so I don’t need other deer.

Where did you take the shinkasen from? When will they be finished with the gates? I'd live to go there in a month. Did they oysters make you sick? They look so good, but I am afraid of food poisoning.

Can I ask are the Okinomiyaki restaurants accepting of school-age children if theyre with their parents?
We’re taking our 7 & 11yr olds to Japan for a month in March and really want to show them traditional Oki as they both love Japanese food but dont want to offend the restaurant owners
You should be ok. The ones depicted in the video ( where there are several in an arcade) are more than OK. I've taken school groups of 20 teenagers into Okonomiyaki restaurants in Hiroshima with no issues (the last time was in 2019...bloody COVID).
If the shop is a bit 'seedy' looking, it's probably a 'Mum and Dad 'style of locals-only restaurant, so it could be 50/50 depending on the time you go (eating with Salary men etc). This, however, really adds to the experience!
There are (were?) some brilliant old-school restaurants near Hiroshima station but the 'tourist-friendly' ones (English menus etc) are up past the bridge/ Peace Park.
