I know it's in good nature but I think that joking about stalkerish behaviour normalizes it. I once was in a convo with my colleagues from uni and they were making jokes about hegemonic masculinity by joking about beating your wife/girlfiend and I did feel a bit uncomfortable but I didn't know I could say something about it until my female colleague (whom I always respected greatly) said that it's not ok. That it's not funny. And I do agree. I'm not holding it against you, it's not anyone's fault that society puts those ideas out there but I just hoped that i could show you a different perspective, the way my female colleague showed it to me

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

@@igut214 here we're making fun of stalkers and their mentality how they think they're doing nothing wrong by stalking women, and yes, making jokes about women being beaten is never funny I agree

Advices like "wear red if you want to increase someone's attraction to you", to me, feels the same as "shave your body hair if you want to increase your performance in cycling or swimming", at the end of the day it does make a difference, but it's such a small one that it will only be significant at a high level competition, and since we shouldn't be treating dating as a competition, wearing red does not make any difference

    • @saraashkir5793
      @saraashkir5793 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

For real! And the way they test them is having people who have every other factor be the same or similar, and seeing if red will make a difference. Like of course but now have someone be awkward and the other be confident, then put the awkward person in red. No difference

    • @jaetrnn6000

I will never understand the idea that men are less attractive when they smile. Personally, when I see a guy who never smiles, it makes me assume that he is antisocial and less approachable. On the contrary, men who smile (genuinely) seem more trustworthy, confident, and interesting. Am I the only one? Because I dont think I am.

    Some colour theory for yall:
Red is a warm colour, it's eye catching and it holds your focus. Someone wearing red will hold your focus more than someone not wearing red, however this response is momentary. It passes in less than a second and long term it won't have any effect.
Interestingly, this is a technique that many artists use. Next time you look at an art piece, look at the layout of the colours and see where your eyes fall first.

Theres romance and romcom movies that really harm the dating scene by fictionalizing and idealizing something that is virtually unrealistic. It seems horror is opening up more to breaking this mold and calling attention to the flaws in this and accepting your genuine self to find ones that you will genuinely end up long term with. I think things like Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind and 1000 Days of Summer are red nance movies that highlight issues of media romanticized dating. Esp days of summer where Zoey portrays this mans manic pixie dream when in reality he is only seeing what he wants and not her, he is romanticizing an idealized version of her into a toxic relationship. It's a great movie.

Mirroring body image is so fake. Just be yourself! React in a genuine way, you never need to pretend to be someone you aren't. Trying new things because YOU were always interested but never had courage to do it is fine. As long as it's for YOU and not specifically to impress others! I can't stress it enough. You won't genuinely click with someone long term by faking a persona. You won't be genuinely happy with yourself. A great media representation of this very oddly via a horror tv show from SciFi is Channel Zero the Dead End House season. One character faces his mirror idealized self. It's eye opening. I'm thinking Daniel Isn't Real also broaches this topic. It's on Shudder. I can't confirm bc I haven't watched it yet but It seems to carry the same concept of being your authentic self vs an idealized self that has been influenced by what it considered stereotypically "cool" and has been wrongfully normalized towards specific genders. I.e. The idea of masculinity. The stereotype and misbelief women only like bad boys etc.

They would use websites that aren’t considered academic resources and also the number of videos I started to see that they would upload would consist of being the same thing or just silly that is literally clickbait.
I recently graduated from college this spring and I have a friend who decided to major in psychology so I kindly advised her not to go on that channel because it’s not reliable

I mean... TO be fair, they do say at the beginning of each video (and the description) that you shouldn't use their material for self diagnostician, and to, in fact, seek professional help if you think you may be struggling with a mental illness. BUT, with that being said... I do see your point...
Couple years back, I thought I was suffering from depression, saw a video of theirs about depression, and thought, "Yup! That's me!" At the time, I did go and get professional help, and turns out I was actually depressed. So, in a way, I'm thankful for Pshych2Go. They at least steered me in right direction to getting better help :)
Though with all that being said, the whole channel is a big clickbaity mess. As they say, DON'T EVER use it as a use for diagnosing. Sorry for the long read :(

Psychology is so hard to break down as when dealing with people, there will always be "the exception".
Blanket statements do not translate well when dealing with the subject.
That said, there are tests you can do to find "objective truths" about yourself.
You can test for "majority answers" and usually those results can be replicated within a percent or 2.
After watching many dating advice videos by many different people, I have found out several things.
    1) I have extreme low self esteem. I wish I didn't, but I do. Does that mean I am thinking about ending it? No. those tendencies NEVER enter my mind, I still love life. Just don't think highly of myself.
    2) At my age it seems like the dating pool is very sparse. The question when ask what I notice about women first when they walk in the room, I usually say "The left hand". Is there a ring?
    3) I have found dating sites and apps useless. Not only do I rarely get matches, of the few times it does happen, it seems no one responds. From my perspective, some girls seem to have the problem of getting too many matches and never having any of them pan out, ugly guys like me get a match then a message saying "come to my website and we can chat per minute".

Don't just quickly blow them off if not interested. State why you don't like it them gently steer the conversation into something you know. Share your interests and knowledge when someone shows they wanna know about it. Don't force your views. Dating is about happiness with yourself and the other person and while sometimes it may be something new and slight uncomfortable it's not about being fake and forcing something that's totally outside your wheelhouse

ALL the advice were so one-sided, as if women were crazy and men have the right to play games and test you. Then you check the comments and you see how it made women MORE anxious and doubting themselves and taking "vows" never to date again... Women are basically not allowed to be just themselves, you are basically told you must be afraid to lose a guy. Go check, all these videos from guys are exactly the same as if they copied it from somewhere. I felt so bad eventually about myself and blamed myself for past broken relationships just because these videos told me I was not good enough and will never be...

As an ADHD/autistic person who struggles with eye contact and focusing on looking at someone directly when we're talking - I've found that my peripheral vision for noticing micro expressions has got really good, to the point that I can detect what someone's feeling, or any change in what they're feeling when I'm sat next to them and not looking at their face directly at all 😂. Or even when I can't really see someone, I can often sense their mood if I know them well. If its someone I'm close with, I get goosebumps if they're experiencing a negative emotion, and feel a kinda smooth, calmness with positive emotions (but not laughter, that's different 🤣).
I do think people need to be more open and accepting regarding "eye contact" and looking directly at someone when you're talking, because I guarantee if it looks like I'm looking right at you and paying attention... I'm not 😂. That's just now how it works for me, I find it way easier to follow and be engaged in a conversation if I'm either looking off to the side or moving my gaze around the environment.
I think being autistic makes it overwhelming to look directly at someone for an extended period of time, and being adhd makes it difficult to stay focused on looking at someone AND listening to what they have to say at the same time. I do personally mention this in conversations where it could seem like I'm not engaging, so the other person hopefully understands, but not everyone is confident and comfortable enough to do this!
I feel like neurodivergent people have to spend most of their time trying to fit neurotypical standards, and it would be nice if people would understand why things are different for us, and meet us halfway.

I also think it would be a good idea to provide an example of across the room and conversational. I'm a STARER when in conversation since I'm a lip reader bc I can't hear well but it doesn't come across as crazy, too intense.
I think a combination of what both you said is a great idea. However, again I think a visual example of this would be best so that people know how to make great eye contact that isn't creepy and also isn't examining the persons body language so they can try to read that

Thank you for doing these videos, you have no idea how you are helping me change for the better and, more importantly, wanting too!
It must be those freckles! ❤️

I am a copywriter and I learned a lot about writing and copy and stuff.
One thing I notice from mediocre and successful copy is how complexity it is
The more complex the copy is, the more you feel like it's trying to impress you.
The simpler it is, the more you feel like it helps you.
The first time I watch your video, my impression for you is you speak very simple stuff.
And I like it. From a copywriter's perspective, it's obvious you are successful.
Also you speak a lot of truth. And it blows my mind. I like it. A lot!!

I'm interested to know how did you become a social development coach? Did you have to study something, besides from socializing trough people? At which point did you know you could help people with it?

Hey, could you possibly make a video about Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) ? I know there’re not plenty interviews of him but lots of women find his mysterious character so attractive and I’d like to see your personal view on it.

Thank you so much. You are the first I've seen make a video like this, but NOT bash the creators, or cut out key parts to make them look bad. You gave us legit advice, instead of just going, "That's wrong, that's wrong, so is that", you acknowledged when they weren't to far off, while politely correcting them when they weren't. That's how to TH-cam.

Hey Anthony! I don't know if the comment section would be the right place for this but I'm in a phase of total confusion and doubt.
There's this one girl that I've been best friends with for atleast 3 to 4 years. And we get along pretty well. We've had moments where we would have a sort of "cry session" where we both console each other and give advice to one another bringing each other up. We always try to support and if no such "support" is needed, we still try and communicate with each other and hang out alot. So,
Last year, she confessed to me at our village (we live in the same village lol) telling me that she really liked me and all and decided to hide that feeling because she was so scared of making things awkward. She knew that I was with another girl at that time but was so tired of hiding what she really felt about me. I proved it to her that it wouldn't be awkward and spent more time with her. Nothing changed and we would still have such a great time with each other. The "confession event" was brought 2 weeks later on accident in a conversation and so we decided and agreed upon each other that we wouldn't start a romantic relationship. Reason being that we fear of loosing each other. In present time,
I decided to go to her house regularly (with social distancing of course) and we would talk alot about what's been going on through our lives. She's been with another guy which she's been dating only this 2020. I knew of it and actually helped him with his shyness and confess to her and all that "wingman" stuff.
    My question is this,
Why do I suddenly feel attracted to her years later by just remembering our times together and such?
Why do I feel sadness all of a sudden remembering that she has a relationship with another guy currently?
I mean as I mentioned I helped the guy ALOT and became the messenger of these two people.
I remember being so excited and happy knowing that they got together,
But why now? Why do I feel a certain hint of sadness? Why of all times I suddenly became attracted to her even though I knew that she's with another guy? I support them alot but I still feel sad inside.
And should I still confess to her? Right now or maybe when she's single again? Even if we agreed to not enter a romantic relationship a year ago?
Thanks, and keep up the great content Anthony!
I apologize if the story and or my question is a bit messy😅

There's definitely an element of valuing someone by looking them in the eyes which is so powerful, but not too much so they feel uncomfortable. Value and respect go hand in hand. Some people are never shown they're valuable in their whole lives

12:00 In my psychology and sociology classes they mentioned that humor is the opposite of sexual attraction.
The logic she states seems to be put a little flimsy yet I do believe having similar humor creates a stronger bond and being open and yourself establishes stronger connection so it isn't quite wrong. Sociologically we are drawn most to those who feel familiar because familiar is safe.
Those that remind us of people who have already gained our trust or admiration. Having similar humor could tie into having similar experiences and thus a shared understanding and outlook of a situation.
It also shows level of self control and wit, if someone is joking about "easy" things such as using cliche's or dirty jokes (in the wrong setting or in excess) then it doesn't show as much of self control. Or even that you are trying to be unattractive on purpose. (Which I have done) I personally think fart jokes are funny, and yeah it is an easy joke but timed well and in the right company it is more innocent than for an example a racist or sexist joke or the sort that uses shock value which shows less social dignity.
Safe humor such as "No barcode, guess it's free." tells you they are pulling things out from surface thinking in order to be social and friendly whereas making a clever, subtle pun that catches you off guard (as long as you are coming up with the connection yourself and not coping it) shows that you make analytical observations and compare them with other things very quickly therefore -possibly- more introverted and reserved.
Either humor(besides harmful ones) is valid yet someone can feel more of a connection with some types of humor than other because of the reflection of personality. The attraction is not caused by humor alone.

i personally have found pupil dialation to be fairly accurate. one time my friends (one of which was a little more than a friend) and i were just kinda screwing around with it, and even just saying the same of someone's crush can make their pupils dialate at the thought of them.

    • @andreaw2053
      @andreaw2053 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The issue that I have with this with this is that in practice, out and about, in crowds or with a group, there can be a large variety of reasons for your pupils to dilate. Perhaps they see someone else they're attracted to - pupils dilate. Perhaps they're in the shade - pupils dilate to take in more light. Perhaps they're in the sun - they could be attracted to you but the bright light could stop their pupils from dilating.
Its very variable and difficult to pick up on if you're not intensely staring into their eyes.

    • @farewell.wanderlust
      @farewell.wanderlust 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@andreaw2053 very true. we were in a moderately-lit room, so light wasnt really an issue, and we were deliberately trying to see what made people's pupils dialate. normally, it would be difficult to tell from more than 2 feet away.
