The sequence at 4:22 of the octopus pattern matching with the algae has to be the most amazing footage of sea life ever captured on film. Simply breathtaking!
that was positively amazing.
240p we meet again.
Expl0rati0n Well, it's from 2008, you know. 240p was cutting edge back then xD
Old joke... But I like it :3
1080p has been around since the late 90s tho
dsbm _______ yeah but not in internet videos
I think we can agree Micheal Jordan of camo
Now he’s gone and so am I😂
What a legend
1 Subscriber with 100 Vids CHALLENGE ! what's it mean?
James corden it means he’s leaving
Plot twist: that guy was actually a cuttlefish.
+Sean Maher no he wasn't. this guy came to my door once and I said "what do you want?" and he said, "sir I'm sorry to bother you but I'm lost and stranded, and need to get home and need bus fare" so I said "well how much do you need" and he said about tree fiddy ($3.50) then I realized he was a incrustation from the paleolithic era and I said "GET OUT OF HERE YOU DAMN LOCHNESS MONSTAH, YOU NOT GETTIN MY TREE FIDDAY"
Maybe he's octodad...
+letthebutthurtbegin "Dammit woman! No wonder he keeps comin' back if you keep givin' him tree fiddy. I told you, don't be givin' no tree fiddy to no Loch Ness monsters!"
He's actually zoidberg
You
So good I didn't even care that it was a 240p video
Now hes gone and so am I
Theo Mize what's it mean?
I come back to this video every two or three years. Blows my mind.
Me: on the home page.
TH-cam algorithm: Shepard tone illusion.
5:20 "Now he's gone and so am I" I like this David Gallo guy, he's a good wit to him
cuttlefish? more like
*CTHULUFISH*
"These salt-soaked caverns are teeming with pellagic nightmares! They must be flushed out!"
This needs waaaayyyy more views.
5:13 They're clapping at an octopus, hahaha~
But yeah, it was amazing!
That really was amazing, it understands how to analyze the object and match it in a seemingly perfect way. Colour, light, texture? Crazy.
I have never admired an octopus this much in my life.
Man, I often ONLY LISTEN to ted talks, while I'm working on art projects, but I HAD to stop AND LOOK AT THIS ONE! I could HEAR what this guy was describing and I couldn't even concentrate on what I was doing! I thought: "Whoa! I gotta see this!" I hear the word "OCTOPUS" and I'm all ears AND eyes! Probably the most incredible and intelligent creature on our planet! Just mind boggling!!
This is like visiting another planet! Wow
Anyone else’s mom make you watch Ted talks it’s not too bad just aggravating at times
That octopus at the end is a Jedi master!
I was so amazed I stood up and aplauded
he isn't gone! he's right there!!!
I luv how then man gets a standing ovation but to me... It looks like that octopus did all the work
has this video got TH-cam's highest like to dislike ratio??? thats incredible!
+KipperBill OMG! I was taken here by that too!
+KipperBill Despite the 240p.
+KipperBill Now that you said that people's going to start disliking it :) Not saying I did but...
+flames1000000 same
And on top of that, he was funny, charismatic, gave a good speech and to top it off, it's just polite to applaud regardless :D
I have been lucky enough to observe and interact with octopi whilst diving on many occasions, they never cease to amaze me and if time allows I will sometimes spend half an hour with one if I encounter a playful one, but I never persevere if the animal appears in any way perturbed. The first time one of them reached out a tentacle to touch my hand and give it a tug blew my mind. Please don't eat them if you can help it.
I'm totally with you. These are my most favorite animals in the ocean. I'm envious that you were able to play with one. While I love the ocean I get a little nervous in the water. I equate eating these animals to eating a dog.
Thanks, Michael!
Nature, space and the human body are, in my opinion, the three most mind blowing things.
TED's tagline should be: "Things worth watching". You can't go wrong with a TED video.
the cuttlefish has been my favorite animal for years.
Ted talks should be a tv channel
David was actually at my school in my oceanography class for a presentation!
it is amazing that those creatures know how to blend in knowing that human eyes can't notice it.
Its funny how most people going to these conventions just sit and listen and pretend they are super smart people, they clap and the speaker moves on. Show them cool pics regardless if they learned anything and you get a standing ovation
Most TED videos are 18 minutes long, but this one is only 6 minutes and the first TED video that's so amazing that I had to literally applaud!
Also, Real Science produces more entertaining results than anything that Hollywood could possibly hope to.
LOL positively amazing ... how many times did he say those words ;-))
this is why i love the sea! and all the creatures that live in it
I tried to blend into my surroundings right now at work, like that octopus. Epic fail.
shut peepee head
Epic fail is such an archaic term
ended clip was beast
this guy talks like he's trying to sell something on a 30 minute infomercial for nature
full of awe
Guy: *comes close to octopus*
Octopus: Ight, ima head out
Wow. That octopus at the end was just amazing
I had to watch ted talks for an assignment, I couldn't stop watching them even after I was done.
4:05 words of zen. In present tense, "The Octopus's speed never exceeds the speed of Waves & Sunlight." Puttin' that on facebook.
Octopi would make amazing artists
FYI for the people who doesnt know what the water in water is, it is when large mass of salt and fresh water are combined the salt water is denser so it falls below the fresh water
240p got me really nostalgic!
THAT OCTOPUS IS A SPY!!!
I love you NATURE, I Love You
Best ted talk ever.
Fantastic speaker.
HOLY CRAP! Nature never fails to surprise me :)
that octopus got some skills!!
That was the coolest thing i have ever seen! It is amazing how an octapus can not only change color, but texture also
Positively amazing !
flying turkey lmao, smart and humorful
i love ted.
Thanks IrishBSBoy for sending me something that was a pure pleasure to watch. Crusading is good, but so is replenishing the soul with beauty now and then.
Great vid, 5*s, thanks for posting, TED.
All of nature is a work of genius....
4:32 ....my mind was blown out for 10 seconds O___O

I can't believe I hadn't seen this yet. Marvelous stuff.
That octopus just blew my mind! WOW.
108 people came here after searching for "most poplar video with no dislikes" just so they could dislike it...
108 people hit the wrong button actually
Ha haaaaa haa
Obvious Cabbage I like this very much :)
Obvious Cabbage 257 now
Amazing stuff. With all of our technology we still cant even approach what that octupus could do.
Now I know why the octopus is considered the master of stealth
Ooh the ones that are neon colors are trippy. I love cuttlefish too, they're awesome :P
4:08
Grampa is overwhelmed with fascination
WOW!!!! AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing!
I liked because of the "Flying Turkey" part xD
I can imagine all kinds of neat (and dirty) stuff to do with that sort of camouflage.
Now for underwater oceans!!!
Very cool with the octopus thing!!!
This reminds me of 'The Abyss,' ten points to anyone who's seen the movie!
I LOVE CUTTLEFISH!!!!!!!
4:28 Mind blowing ....
That was amazing.
Wow! Beautiful stuff.
I love this so much.
Very interesting sea creatures.

I LOVE TED
reasons I don't swim in the ocean... :D
Woah, that car at the end was just amazing!
This is why I want to study oceanography and biology. So amazing!
I like this guy.
Very true.
Thanks BMW
i am smerter now for watching these ted vedios.
Cephalopods have the intelligence of a human child, apparently. Makes you think twice before eating them, I couldn't bring myself to knowing that they're that intelligent. But their innate ability to blend in is astounding!
and large ones get boiled alive in Korean restaurants...
that Ted guy is really knowledgeable
Re-watching it after 7 Years
5:00 ... mindblow...
These are the kinds of things we are destroying with oil spills. We don't even know how bad it is.
Nature is awesome
