    Aww your ferret is very cute. Thanks for this tutorial, I couldn’t work out how to sew the two hammocks together properly. Now I can do it!

    Thank you so much. My daughter acquired a 19w girl ferret on the rescue. It was in very poor shape apparently. She name it Pika. So, I have no choice but learn how to make ferret hammocks to send away to fill a 3 tier cage. 👌

      Dook it Yourself I know, I miss the fabric store! I have a ton of scrap fabric, but it will only last so long 😢

    I love making these! I made tons when I had rats. My ferrets have one but almost never sleep in it so I haven't made any more. I love to sew. Being able to pick my own fabric is the best part. Maybe I will make another one thats more enclosed and see if they like it cause they love to be inside of things when sleeping

      FerretBiz I love picking out the fabric. It my favorite part. I also noticed my ferrets like some hammocks better than others. My ferrets don’t seem to care for the tunnel hammock to much, so I probably won’t make them another one of those. Although they love to sleep in the tunnels that I make that are not hammocks 😂.

    What size is your strapping and swivel hook.

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use 1” wide strapping and cut it 7” long. After attaching the swivel hook to the strapping and sewing it in to hammock, the strap ends up hanging around 5” down from the top of my cage.
      And I use these swivel hooks from Amazon. amzn.to/3rf51WZ

    What measurements you recommend for 2 guinea pigs

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yvonne Brown I would do at least 14” for the bottom and 16” for the top. For two ferrets, I make it 16” on the bottom and 18” on the top. I never even thought to make one of these for guinea pigs. Let me know if they like it. My ferrets don’t really get in theirs to often. They seem to like their regular hammock or the cube hammock the best.

      Ferret Tails yeah I saw your pattern for the cube so I will make the cube seems warmer for fall and winter then switch out and make these I have a sewing machine and Joann fabric coupons lol one other question 2 actually measurements for cube hammock for piggies and do you need a absorbent middle in the hammocks either cube or this one or just cotton and fleece

    • @FerretTails
      @FerretTails  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yvonne Brown I make my cubes 12” x 12” and I think that’s probably a good size for guinea pigs too.
      I don’t use an absorbent layer for the ferrets, but you can definitely add it to the hammock or cube. You can use a Uhaul “blanket” (they sell these at any Uhaul rental truck retailers for around $8) or you can use batting/cotton. I would cut the absorbent layer about 1/4” smaller than the hammock or cube pieces and sew it to one of the wrong sides of your fleece or cotton pieces first. That way you don’t have to sew through 3 thick layers at once.
      Also, you probably only need an absorbent layer on the bottom of the cube, unless you want it on all sides. Although the absorbent layer will definitely help the cube keep its shape!
      And if you download the Jo-Ann fabric app, they always have lots of different coupons you can use, but their system typically won’t take more than one coupon at a time, so sometimes I have them ring stuff up separately so I can use more than one coupons for the most expensive stuff. (I love sewing, but it gets super expensive). I just ordered a bunch of fleece and cotton from Jo-Ann’s. Their fleece is 60% off and so is the flannel cotton, but I think the sale ends after tomorrow.
