I second this. Also, if you haven't seen them already, Nitro Rad did some great reviews of the first two games you mentioned. Like this channel, he also covers a lot of lesser known platformers.
That's the wonderful thing about Mid Market AA quality games during the PS2/Xbox/GameCube era. A half decent budget and capable team could put together a great game.
10:07 You take the fire demons out by stunning them with your tongue and then hitting them with your claws. You can do your triple slash combo after the stun or immediately stun the enemy again with your tongue after hitting it. I hope I helped you or even other people out ;)
As a child my family didn't have much Money so once a month or so I got to choose one game, I had two games and I decided to choose Scaler and it was amazing ❤️ I rate it 9.5/10 the only problem I the camera
Fun to see you make this video. Found this game a week ago at a local thrift shop and picked it up out of curiosity. It really surprised me, definitely a great game.
I got the game and just beat it, I'm here to finish the review since I didn't want spoilers. ^^ Heres a tip the arenas for anyone struggling, use Scalers tongue to stun small enemies including the fire fella it helps when feeling overloaded. Also there is an alternate ending by the way, you have to get all the crystal eggs I read online, I only had 51 of them when I beat it so I decided to just watch the true ending online. Anyways thanks Scaler was awesome!
I had a game as a kid that I barely remember because of the combination of genres it attempted. Chicken little for the original Xbox, it was a platformer with stealth elements that was also a lite collectathon with puzzle elements I think it would be an interesting game to cover and review
Great video, awesome video quality as well; this game really pops with color because of the good use of bloom lighting. Too bad there's some tearing and occasional fps drops. The "enemies within walls" mechanic reminds me of God of War. The transformations remind me of Kameo, especially the spiked ball character. Seems to be ahead of its time in some respects! After Voodoo Vince, which I'm gonna play because of you recommendation, ai might give this one a go!
I remember when I was a kid and I was the only kid who didn't have ratchet and clank or most popular games in 2004 but I did have scaler. Really great game, oh that sweet childhood nostalgia T_T
Ok then, let's add yet ANOTHER game to the wishlist... T_T Seriously, awesome hidden gem. Just like you, I've never heard of scaler until today. Thanks for digging it up! :)
I remember this game being sold back in the day, I distinctly remember the box art at least, but I never got to play it...the game looks bloody beautiful and fun and creative, though. Kinda gives me Jak and Daxter vibes, too!
Others have noted the Jak and Daxter vibes as well but I'm not well versed in that series I'm afraid. I never even heard of this game until stumbling upon a Nitro Rad video a year or two ago. Lovely game!
This was a gem back in the day. I remember loving this game but being bummed that no one else knew what it was. Are you familiar with Psi-Ops? Another gem that got little attention back in the day
I've been meaning to play Freedom Fighters. I remember buying it because it supports 720p. Vexx is another one I would like to get through. There are a surprising amount of 3D platformers on the Xbox.
I really, really recommend you the Asterix and Obelix PS2 Trilogy. If you ever played the Spongebob PS2 Trilogy then you will most likely love Asterix and Obelix XXL 1, 2 and At the Olympic Games. These are probably some of the best licensed games I ever played.
I heard of the game back then but never played it. I think i even brought a back up copy for the Xbox. Looks really good tho, may have to try & pick up a Xbox or GC version. Would love to see you do a video on "Is Headhunter (DC) still good?".
You may know the developer of this game from these PS1 titles: Jersey Devil Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time Bugs Bunny & Taz: Timebusters The Grinch Monsters Inc.
Do you take requests for games? Just I know a lot of games from the PS2 era that deserve more recognition than they've received, and I think your reviews are top-notch.
I'm not sure what sort of standard you'd have for games you like to cover, you've got to at least have some. By a small majority, it seems you do platformers, which is one of the ones I had in mind.
Oh that's good. My first suggestion was Wallace and Gromit: In Project Zoo. A short Platformer with a nice gameplay variety, some good humor, and a fairly steady increase in difficulty. After that, I was going to suggest Gregory Horror Show. It's a really unique Horror game, and it's also pretty short, but it can take a very long time if you don't look up a guide, some tough logic puzzles in it.
That isn't that part I got wrong. I deliberately didn't say Behaviour Interactive. I accidentally said Artificial Mind & Entertainment instead of Artificial Mind & Movement. I also love that their initials were A2M :D
I love your reviews, but I think that sometimes you say a little too much about the game. The only complaint I have this time is that you said how to defeat bosses. Other than that, you certainly make me interested into unknown old games! Talking about obscurity, I've found a really strange PS2 game in a local shop called "Bombastic". No, it isn't a Bomberman clone, but a really fun dice based action puzzle game. However, I have to warn you that it has a high learning step. It was so cheap I gave it a try and do not regret it.
I definitely spoil large aspects of the game but this is by design. Take the bosses in Scaler for example, without analyzing and discussing how they work, then my declaration they are "great" would be pretty empty. My goal is to back up every statement with a list of facts, like an essay. Otherwise my videos are no different than the other thousands of reviewers on the TH-cams. I don't want to sound dismissive of your feedback as it is appreciated! But after doing typical 5-minute reviews for a couple of years, and then spending a year diving much deeper into games, it's clear to me one style is superior to the other. As for bombastic, I have not heard of it! I love puzzle games so I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.
I understand and I guess you have a point. Good thing you warn about final segments of the games, as I sometimes use it. Keep up the good work. As I said, you make me interested in those games you review. :)
I own the first two Spyro games on PlayStation. It's a series I'd like to finally sit down and play properly. Can't believe the European version of Ripto's Rage is called Gateway to Glimmer.
Great review of a very underrated game, I'd like to see you take on other lesser known platformers like Dr. Muto, Vexx, and I-Ninja.
I second this. Also, if you haven't seen them already, Nitro Rad did some great reviews of the first two games you mentioned. Like this channel, he also covers a lot of lesser known platformers.
Yeah I know about Nitro Rad, it's always interesting to hear what several different TH-camrs have to say about these games.
this game looks very high quality
This game was my childhood and was very fun
@@RP-vx5xl me too
That's the wonderful thing about Mid Market AA quality games during the PS2/Xbox/GameCube era. A half decent budget and capable team could put together a great game.

The nostalgia makes this my favourite 3D platformer
As a child my family didn't have much Money so once a month or so I got to choose one game, I had two games and I decided to choose Scaler and it was amazing ❤️ I rate it 9.5/10 the only problem I the camera
I hear you man. We grew up poor. Thankfully I ended up with stuff like Sonic and Road Rash for the Genesis :)
Haha, I remember thinking it looked like Spyro when I got it. Adding it to my Xbox todo list.
Hopefully it's near the top :D
Fun to see you make this video. Found this game a week ago at a local thrift shop and picked it up out of curiosity. It really surprised me, definitely a great game.
I wonder how many forgotten 6th gen games are out there :)
I got the game and just beat it, I'm here to finish the review since I didn't want spoilers. ^^

Anyways thanks Scaler was awesome!
When I was kid this game was pure magic ✨
Still is pure magic ;)
This looks like a mix of Gex, Rayman, and Sonic all in one game.
It definitely borrowed heavily from many different franchises, in a good way :)
I had a game as a kid that I barely remember because of the combination of genres it attempted. Chicken little for the original Xbox, it was a platformer with stealth elements that was also a lite collectathon with puzzle elements I think it would be an interesting game to cover and review
I'll have to check out Chicken Little, thanks!
I def get a ratchet and clank vibe from this game.
Great video, awesome video quality as well; this game really pops with color because of the good use of bloom lighting. Too bad there's some tearing and occasional fps drops.

I hope you enjoy both Scaler and Voodoo Vince, great games!
I remember when I was a kid and I was the only kid who didn't have ratchet and clank or most popular games in 2004 but I did have scaler. Really great game, oh that sweet childhood nostalgia T_T
Fantastic man, nothing wrong with that :)
I think this game could do well with an HD remaster
I can vaguely remember owning this game when I was about 7, it was... Okay, to my memory, but I might try to pick it up again for a second try.
Definitely worth another go!
They say it's no Mario 64 before stating that it has camera problems. The most popular (modern?) criticism for Mario 64 is its camera controls..
Ok then, let's add yet ANOTHER game to the wishlist... T_T
Seriously, awesome hidden gem. Just like you, I've never heard of scaler until today. Thanks for digging it up! :)
Haha, glad I could expand the wishlist :D
I remember this game being sold back in the day, I distinctly remember the box art at least, but I never got to play it...the game looks bloody beautiful and fun and creative, though. Kinda gives me Jak and Daxter vibes, too!

Its had quality better than touhou 2019
This was a gem back in the day. I remember loving this game but being bummed that no one else knew what it was. Are you familiar with Psi-Ops? Another gem that got little attention back in the day
I actually bought Psi-ops brand new back in the day haha. Never put more than a couple hours into it though :(
implantgames understandable. It’s slow at the beginning. But once you get into the game it starts to pick up as you unlock more powers
maybe you should do is vexx underrated?, or is freedom fighters still good?
I've been meaning to play Freedom Fighters. I remember buying it because it supports 720p. Vexx is another one I would like to get through. There are a surprising amount of 3D platformers on the Xbox.
9:46 Those grabby things scared the shit outta me as a kid lmao!
Just watched Nitro Rads review of this: instantly downloaded the ROM for GameCube! Can't wait to play this one
This was a shining beacon of happiness in a miserable childhood full of medical trauma for me
Why no wide screen? Good review Are you ever gonna return to making podcasts? If so i'd like to be in one if you ever go back to making them.
I have yet to dive into wide-screen patches for Xbox games, someday maybe. The podcast will return in July, but will be audio only, stay tuned :)
I just meant wide screen with the Framemeister? That works great as i don't have a webcam yet.
I will never stretch 4x3 content to 16x9 :P You're a monster!
implantgames what I always do if it's only on composite cables.
implantgames.com/implantgames/podcast115 Podcast!
I heard of the game back then but never played it. I think i even brought a back up copy for the Xbox. Looks really good tho, may have to try & pick up a Xbox or GC version.
Would love to see you do a video on "Is Headhunter (DC) still good?".
Headhunter is a game I've always wanted. I actually saw it a few months back at a local shop, but the frugal side of me decided to pass. Someday!
Pretty cool review. i never heard of this game.
Hey KT, glad you are still around!
You may know the developer of this game from these PS1 titles:
Jersey Devil
Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time
Bugs Bunny & Taz: Timebusters
The Grinch
Monsters Inc.
I was looking for a similar game to ''Crash bandicood'' and I found this diamond game, I like it.
Do you take requests for games?
Just I know a lot of games from the PS2 era that deserve more recognition than they've received, and I think your reviews are top-notch.
Thanks for the kind words. I always like hearing folk's recommendations, I just can't promise anything of course.
I'm not sure what sort of standard you'd have for games you like to cover, you've got to at least have some.
By a small majority, it seems you do platformers, which is one of the ones I had in mind.
5-10 hour platformers, racing games, and first person shooters are my jam :)
Oh that's good.

I do own Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo, I'll have to fire it up! Sadly it does not appear Gregory Horror Show made it to the States :(
I think that the animation from the Charakter is quite good
could you do a video for Tork Prehistoric Punk and Metal Arms Glitch in the System?
Someday.
Thanks for another great video. I've never heard of this game, night be time to dust off the Xbox
It's always a good time to dust off the Xbox!
I remember drawing him alot as a kid
Game looks amazing even for 60 bucks, but what version is better? I mean how much GC version better thab PS2?
Surprising you called AM&M wrong. They are called Behaviour Interactive now.
That isn't that part I got wrong. I deliberately didn't say Behaviour Interactive. I accidentally said Artificial Mind & Entertainment instead of Artificial Mind & Movement. I also love that their initials were A2M :D
implantgames haha dirty mind
Oh yea. By the guys who brought you Bugs Bunny Lost in Time, Bugs and Taz and Jersey Devil on the PS1.
Nice review :)
I was just asking myself why so many chameleons are named Leon.... and then I got it, and I feel really stupid.
I love your reviews, but I think that sometimes you say a little too much about the game. The only complaint I have this time is that you said how to defeat bosses. Other than that, you certainly make me interested into unknown old games!

I still f***king hate that boss (the on rail turret boss)
I love this gamer Scaler
Welcome to the club!
sup how's your day been?
Today is a good day.
implantgames that's good my dude
Also there’s a secret ending for 100%
I loved this game.
Is Spyro 2, Gateway to Glimmer still good?
I own the first two Spyro games on PlayStation. It's a series I'd like to finally sit down and play properly. Can't believe the European version of Ripto's Rage is called Gateway to Glimmer.
Just beat the flying crab dragon boss it was hard
Still better than mario and sonic the game movie animted quality better than more games
thats what i call a hidden gem
i need tha game badly
Yep!
Sad I just found this channel after it went under
Looks better Spyro, old Spyro.
Half an hour for the first level? Try 5 minutes and two hours for the entire game
i just played one level on og xb.but 360 seems can play it
Í love Boby Jenkis Scaler
Why do you talk with that fake gimmicky voice?
