The Horla by Guy de Maupassant.

  • The Horla (or Le Horla) is the Classic French tale of a poltergeist. Or is it? Is The Horla (and what actually is a 'horla'? Are we seeing a poltergeist or a paranoid breakdown. De Maupassant was a classic writer of short stories and The Horla is considered one of his best. Strictly a novella, the tension and claustrophobia mounts minute after minute until at the end we feel almost mad ourselves. A literary triumph!

Just saying the words Guy de Maupassant makes me happy. Always has and always will.
The world’s most perfect name. Lol

Yes, yes, I agree with you whole-heartedly that this lovely name, Guy de Maupassant has a wonderful effect; it makes me feel lightly amused and very light-hearted. And Mr. Tony Walker, word artiste extraordinaire, I have to enthusiastically compliment you upon your French accent; it sounds perfect to me, and BEAUTIFUL! I will remember in the future to try and resist the urge to write a comment before hearing the tale in its entirety, for the first thing I was going to say was that you conveyed Maupassant's character's joy to be in his ancestral land very enthusiastically and well. Moments later, he begins to feel that his mood is taking a dip - he feels it most certainly, but is quite unsure of the reason for this unexpected change, positing that the cause may be an element of the atmosphere or perhaps an unseen being with unusual powers. Maybe a malevolent entity determined to cause illness or death. Who prefers water to milk, when the water belongs to another. ha, ha. This character is somewhat charming, and imaginative in his own diagnostic efforts. He speaks with feeling; he detects disease or danger near to him. He thinks, and thinks. I'm afraid his terrible ending is near. But perhaps he devours a superb omelette next morning and all fears and worries disappear. But i doubt it...
An absolutely splendid job, Mr. Walker! Thank you. kris k.

An absolutely stellar narrator, complimented with superb audio quality. I think this must be one of the most outstanding pieces on TH-cam. It's so very simple yet virtually perfect. The first time I listened to this I realised that I kept loosing the plot because of the mesmerising overall sound. I could listen to this all day.

The Beckoning Fair One is almost that style. It isn't a diary, but written in the first person, so it has the same feel. I'd like to see him narrate that. Chilling and totally engrossing. Always enjoy your narrations and your comments. Don’t feel totally comfortable in admitting it, but I don’t know how to become a patreon. At 68 and no longer in “the world out there,” I’m not terribly well versed in the current trends of the day. I’m certainly not well off, but I wouldn’t mind dropping a “shilling” in the hat from time to time to help you pursue your passions. Seems only fair since you are entertaining us all so brilliantly. Sorry, but I don’t anyone in in my little town who shares my enthusiasm for the kind of literature you write or read. Thank you for your contribution toward enriching my life. (I’m not so much in love with the macabre as I am in a story well told. Guy de Maupassant did it splendidly, and so do you.)

If you click on the channel icon, you will end up in the channel itself.
Go to the last section: "About" or the one before, with the description. There you will find the Patreon option.
Once you click on that, it will tell you what to do.
To do this, you need to have your banking app/website on your phone/PC, because after you chose your level of participation, the system will end up taking you to your banking app to confirm a monthly contribution.
      After that it's set up.
Most channels usually offer different levels of participation, starting with maybe 2$, or a bit more, per month.
After that you just need to make sure there's enough money in your credit card on the monthly date.
      It's all set🙂

Tony heres something you probably never heard of : Other than my surround. sound in my living room.
I also have a surround sound
    in my bedroom
    my Den
    my. kitchen
    my. bathroom
    my. entertainment room
    my. Garage
    my. Garden area
    my. Pool area
As speakers or Bluetooth the whole house is connected to an intercom system, that I wired myself....
So I could be doing wash in the basement, to washing my car, to cooking a dinner in the kitchen, to changing the brakes on my truck in the garage and still listened to your stories and many other things online !
So, today your past 6 stories,
that i have listened to are coming out of more than 85 speakers throughout my property as I clean the house then we will be n
getting ready for a party this evening. My wife and I enjoy your story tremendously.
In about 2 hours I will be cutting my grass, I'm not sure exactly what number story I will be by then but I most certainly will be back later with another comment.
Another thing I even listened to your stories in the car well back to washing my car
