@chazzles93 I personally wouldn't like soloing in this style without a pitchbend. To many of my "licks" are based on pitchbend use. BUT, if your keyboard has a legato/mono mode with portamento (or "glide"), then you could get a lot of the same effects, with some practicing... :) Good luck! Thanks for watching!

What major influences lie behind the productio and the solo?
Hm... solo is hard to say, but production is definitely early 80s disco-funk or electro-funk.
@mugabesunny The same EG is also controlling the cutoff of a 12dB/oct low pass filter with a bit of resonance on it, it's doing that very commonly heard "aow" effect (though not so much of it). Both the filter EG and the amp EG has a bit of attack time to smoothen things out.
There's an LFO (trigged by the mod wheel) controlling the pitch of both oscillators, giving the sound some vibrato (allthough I like to play the vibrato using pitch bend most of the time, as you can tell from the video).

Thanks man... Not so much live work at the moment, more studio, writing and teaching. Yeah I use Reason, but not as much as Logic. Love Reason though, want to get into it more. I haven't done too much online collaborations.
I decided to search up funk music with synthesizers today for no apparent reason and I stumbled upon this... That was such a good jam you had there man! I don't know a damn thing about synthesizers but I feel like I want to learn after watching this! Awesome work!

Henrik Hansson If I were to purchase some of that beginner equipment is there something in particular I should be looking for? In other words, do you have any recommendations?
The most important is to learn a bit about subtractive synthesis - this is how all the synths from the 70s and early 80s were programmed - so you can start making your own sounds. You can start with a software instrument, the sounds in this video were mostly programmed on Logic's ES2 synthesizer (included in the Logic software). If you want a real hardware vintage instrument, they can be quite expensive, but some of them - for example Roland JX3P, JX8P and Juno-60 - are usually a bit cheaper. A newer virtual analog synth (basically a digital modern synth, that emulates analog synthesis) might also be nice, the Nord Leads are good examples of this type of instrument.
I'll definitely check out everything you mentioned! Learning a new instrument is tough, but very rewarding in the end. Thanks again man!

@mugabesunny (3rd and final part... LOL) Phaser, reverb and delay, and also I mixed in a bit of a pure sine wave after all the filtering (the ES2 has this function, very good for stabilizing a sound).
That's basically it. It's got that old-school analog vibe to it, but with a bit of different flavor, I guess.
