'Certified' Canadian Fiddler & 'Approved' Canadian Fiddle
A who's who of Canadian Fiddlers playing a medley of traditional fiddle tunes ending with Calvin's 'Fly in the Puddin' at Calvin's 22nd Annual Spring Fling Fiddle Festival in Morinville Alberta, May 23rd, 2015. This is huge fun. Check it out a feel free to share it....
Well 'synchronized' --and even dancing while 'playing'! Quite a 'feat' and a tribute to them!
This reminds me of when I was a kid. We'd all head out to my grandparent's farm after Church on Sundays, along with aunts, uncles and cousins, and the fiddles would come out. Someone would accompany on guitar and someone else would jump on the piano, but the fiddle was the star of the show. These fiddle tunes featured above were an integral part of the repertoire. This was back in the 1950s, by the way. Very fond memories.

I can't get over how many great Canadian fiddlers there are of all ages - we have nothing like it here in Australia ( I can't name a single great Australian fiddler! )
There sure are a ton of great Canadian fiddlers. I would have thought there would be lots of good Australian fiddlers too.

This is serious fiddle playiing the kind I grew up with.
All of the musicians should be listed on the video when they play their solos but if they were somehow deleted, the mandolin player is Byron Myhre and the guitarist is Clint Pelletier. They are both from Edmonton.

I watched some of the No 1 West shows from 80s where Calvin was one of the fiddle players along with Donnie Parenteau. Man, these guys were amazing even back then. That's 25 years ago. Now superstardom certainly. mos60

Great vid. But if you really want to se how good Calvin is just watch the No 1 West shows with Brian Sklar/Prairie Fire . Calvin is one of the backup fiddle players with Donnie P and some other excellent fiddle players. This is late 80s /early 90s. Calvin was amazing and so professional even back then. Yes, it's sometimes called Sherbrooke Reel and other times Montreal Reel.

Only fiddle player who could touch Calvin is the late Kenny Baker (bluegrass ) R.I.P. but Calvin is very talented and could certainly play in any Nashville venue. mosrite60
MAYBE . BUT PLAYING FIDDLE TUNES IS JUST A SMALL PART OF WHAT THE FIDDLE DOES IN A BLUEGRASS BAND . KENNY BAKER WAS CALLED BY BILL MONROE " THE BEST FIDDLE PLAYER IN BLUEGRASS MUSIC " , AND MONROE WOULD KNOW ; HE INVENTED BLUEGRASS MUSIC
